About Temple Adat Shalom
Temple Adat Shalom: A Welcoming and Inclusive Reform Jewish Community
Temple Adat Shalom is a vibrant and welcoming Reform Jewish community located in Poway, California. The temple was founded in 1974 with the mission of creating a warm and inclusive environment where individuals can come together to celebrate their faith, learn from one another, and make a positive impact on the world around them.
At Temple Adat Shalom, we believe that friendship, tikkun olam (social justice), education, and Torah are central to our personal spiritual growth as well as our communal growth. We strive to create an environment where everyone feels welcome regardless of their background or level of religious observance.
Our community is led by Rabbi David Castiglione who has been with us since 2015. Rabbi Castiglione brings his passion for social justice and his commitment to building strong relationships within the community to his role as spiritual leader. He works closely with our dedicated staff members and volunteers to create meaningful programs that engage members of all ages.
One of the hallmarks of Temple Adat Shalom is our commitment to tikkun olam or repairing the world. We believe that it is our responsibility as Jews to work towards creating a more just society for all people. To this end, we have established partnerships with local organizations such as Interfaith Community Services, Feeding San Diego, Jewish Family Service of San Diego County among others.
In addition to social justice initiatives, we offer a wide range of educational programs for both children and adults. Our Religious School provides students with a comprehensive education in Jewish history, culture, language (Hebrew) among other subjects while also instilling values such as kindness compassion respect etc.. For adults seeking further learning opportunities there are various classes offered throughout the year including Torah study groups book clubs etc..
We also offer many opportunities for worship throughout the year including weekly Friday night services Saturday morning services High Holy Day services Passover Seder etc.. Our beautiful sanctuary provides an inspiring setting for prayer reflection meditation etc..
At Temple Adat Shalom we understand that being part of a community means supporting one another through life's ups-and-downs joys-and-sorrows celebrations-and-mourning periods.. That's why we have established various support groups like Caring Committee which offers assistance during times when someone needs help due illness death birth or any other reason..
