Nostalic visit today. Grew up as a kid on Jackson st. The Tar pit was owned by an old woman when I was a child. It was always closed and filled with old books and clothing from what I remember. It was cool to see the storefront up and running. I had a cup of coffee and an almond criossant which was delicious. Im sure the nostalgia made it all the more delicious.
A bit pricey, but really good coffee. Treat yourself on the way to the subway!
Tumeric latte was absolutely fabulous but the wifi is horrendous! Not a place to work from at all.
Went in around 10am, it was great! Very friendly barista and an excellent Burundi on drip!
My favorite thing about my hood is this wonderful espresso bar. Friendly staff and great coffee.
This place is awesome. One of my favorite in my neighborhoods. Cool vibe, great coffee and pastries. Great to either sit at the window and watch the neighborhood with a friend or a quick coffee pickup. Also has vegan pastries from time to time, which is great as an option for my wife.
Good coffee is served in this small cafe. It is ran by a motorcycle and art enthusiast and both of them can sometimes be seen. :)
A very lovely place for a quick pit stop.
Small. Awesome. Friendly. Delicious. Dont miss it, although you might because it is a hidden gem in Greenpoint.
Excellent coffee!
Reasonable prices.
150 square feet of coffee heaven. Don t come with an empty tummy but fun place to read the NYT and sip on a cappuccino.
Very good cold brew. Nice spot. Nice staff. Friendly.
Very small cafeteria (just two or three seats) in East Williamsburg. The coffees are delicious.
A little coffee shop where you will find regular coffee and some sweets - cookies and croissants. Coffee about 4 dollars for a cappuccino. A soft sofa and pleasant music add something pleasant to this place. It would be nice to stop and think about plans for the day;)
Small but honest place. Very bohemian. They prepare coffee, also expressed in an Italian cup. Equipped with brioche for breakfast and Wifi to spend time. Only advice. A smile helps to make new customers.
Amazing coffee and pastries. I ve never found a local coffee shop that feels more like home. It honestly feels like everyone in the neighborhood knows one another through morning chats at Tarpit. It s my fav!
Good coffee at reasonable prices I guess for Brooklyn. Opens really early and very cool staff!
Always cozy in the winter always chill in the summer. Awesome and inspiring baristas work here! Coffee always hot.... even the customers are friendly lol.
Friendly Barista, burnt whole milk in my flat white.
Good cortado. Nice staff. Cute shop with a little sitting area in front for a couple people. Shady in the morning.
My new favorite coffee place in this neighborhood. The guy behind the counter seemed to know everyone and the atmosphere was very convivial. The decor is cozy but not contrived. My Americano was great and the pastries I took home were delicate and delicious. They also have WiFi and an interesting selection of reading material. Oh for some reason the tip jar is labeled fish because it s home to the mythical Greenback Dollar-Bill aquatic species?
Best coffee shop in all of New York with the best baristas.
High quality coffee. Their Ethiopian light roast drip was well tailored to bring out the berry flavors while not being overly acidic.
My go-to coffee shop near Brooklyn Steel. And they know how to make a dry cappuccino.
Best place on Earth, live and breathe this little slice of heaven
Have been told this place carries the best croissants so finally went to check it out and try a coffee but the guy working there today was an ahole. As I saw they had 2 pastries left I asked if they get pasties on the weekend and he snapped that this all we ve got left! . And I clarified if they get new pastries each day and he rudely reiterated that he only had what he has left... it was so strange. I told him that the cafe had been referred to me because they have the best croissants but his behaviour wasn t worth it. Then there was the eye roll from him and a customer he was gabbing with. Nearly 20 years in NY and I can still not navigate the lousy hospitality service.
Will try again another day....
This place is fan fan faaaaaantastic. I don t drink coffee, but they make a great tea. The ambiance in chill and the baristas pleasant. I heard their coffee is good too.
Super friendly baristas and a really strong cold brew (slow brew?). There s a bunch of coffee places around there but this is my favorite by far.
