AMAZING SERVICE! I generally do not write reviews, but felt compelled to do so. I shipped them my $1,100 Yamaha Receiver in need of repair. UPS shipped the package and when it arrived, it was visibly damaged. UPS was not helpful in assisting with a claim; however, Sal from TAP was super acknowledging and supportive of the process. About a week later, Sal called me to tell me they would repair the damage at no charge, then make the warranty repairs and ship it back - avoiding the claim. Shame on UPS! That is going above and beyond in my eyes! Thanks Sal and team!

My Yamaha receiver stopped working after about 10 months from when I bought it from Best Buy. I was instructed by Yamaha Customer Service to send the unit to Tap Electronics. I got a call from Sal when he received it. He was super nice and informative on the phone and he was confident that he could fix it. I got an email 2-3 days later saying that the unit was repaired and being sent back to me. Sal was great and responsive to emails and phone calls. I am extremely happy with Tap Electronics.

Called to check on a Tascam Model 12 that they are doing warranty work on. They gave me detailed information about what was wrong with it and explained the repair process. Extremely professional and friendly.... Qualities that are getting hard to find.

After checking my options as Yamaha Authorized Service Dealers I checked yelp for the best reviews and drove 30 miles away to give my Yamaha RX-V3900 Receiver for repair to TAP Electronics. They told me they are backed up but they will send me an estimate in a week by email. After a month I called them and they said no update yet and they will call me. After 6 weeks of no news I called and said if they didn't touch it yet I will come and pick up my receiver. They were polite and professional so I got a dry "Sure come and pick it up, sorry" I drove another 30 miles and picked up my unopened receiver back. I understand busy but 6 weeks on shelf unattended is very opposite what I red on all these reviews.

Caught them right before closing, but Sal in their service department was very friendly & helpful, just the same. They got right into the amplifier I dropped off for some work, & had an estimate within a couple days. I'm sure it'll be done very soon, & done right. Good people.

I was unable to get Sal to provide me any kind of ...

I was unable to get Sal to provide me any kind of quote for the work except for "Labor : Varies on brand. Please contact us for more details.
Parts: Varies depending on manufacturer rates.
Sales Tax: 8% CA Sales Tax on parts for CA residents.
Shipping: Varies based on your location.
If the estimate is declined or the result is "No Fault Found", we charge a $90 diagnostic fee for Esoteric and $40 diagnostic fee for all other brands."

So I contacted him for more details and was told they would be unable to ballpark a number because they have no idea what condition the unit was in. Ok, so I sent it in for 50$ and got a close to 450$ quote for the repairs. FYI, bench fee for Tascam was 165$ for first hour and 85/hr after that, not including parts. Not sure why I couldn't get that info until AFTER sending the unit in... seems like they want to hold onto the unit knowing the customer has already dumped cash into the shipping and initial bench fee "if declined quote". I was then told that "our job is to take the unit back to factory spec" I didn't want it taken to factory spec; I just wanted fixed what I knew was broken. In any case, I already had at least 90$ in it if I declined that quote, so I paid the money and got the unit back. Tested everything which seems ok, but there are scratchy pots and the tape path wasn't cleaned. I'd expect for that much in bench fees a little dexoit and isopropyl alcohol on the tape path wouldn't put them into a financial bind... or maybe they forgot? In any case, don't send them your unit unless you want to pay to have it taken back to factory spec. Sal seemed nice at first but certainly smarmy before they had the unit in their possession. After that he came off arrogant and rude.
