Comfort, sublime pools and splendid evenings with dinner on the beach ... The team is really professional and very pleasant

Nice hotel, nice and mini club for kids is well organized but lacks choice in food and drink compared to the hotels I have already visited

Original review September 2018: Is it perfect?

No, nothing in life is, but it's damned close.

But if something is wrong, tell the staff or managers about it and it's put right. We've had one very minor issue that was quickly resolved.

Apart from that, the food is amazing, the service is top notch, it's spotlessly clean, and the drinks flow freely.

Add to that the lovely gardens, healthy coral and daily swept beech and it's definitely somewhere we will come back.

Update April 2019: Back here again as it was so good. Only half a day so far, one minor issue quickly resolved. Mostly the same staff, and the new staff members we dealt with are very good. The attitude is right, even if they need a little polish on the execution to make it perfect (which isn't bad by any means). Will update further as the fortnight progresses.

We spent the Feb half term holiday here. Excellent location, very friendly staff, room and facilities good. I would like to specially mention their Chef Mahesh who arranged a special meal for us as it was our 10th wedding anniversary and the food was awesome. Also Bhola and Parvesh at reception, yash and karan at sports club and Valerie at kids club-few names that we remembered that all went an extra mile to make our stay special. The only criticism I have is of their evening entertainment which could be better.

My husband and I were due to stay in Tamassa this week, however we had to cancel our trip due to personal medical reasons very last minute and this resort thankfully agreed to refund our stay without the hassle of us going through our insurers! Thank you for your kindness and for saving us a lot of fuss with paperwork!

After giving it some thoughts, I decided to update my rating to 4 stars to be more fair. The only lagging aspect for me was food variety, especially for lunch. We were at the hotel on two occasions with a few weeks apart and we had the same limited selection for lunch. We ended up going to the food truck on both occasions.

Very low rated service. Poor quality of hospitality welcome. Staffs welcome you with a fake smile and explain things to you like a child who has learnt things by heart. Food quality not to be mentioned. Fridays food are low rated. Saturdays and Sundays are satisfactorily rated food. Waiters at both The Show and Playa are very welcoming. Entertainment staffs Hemant, Bruno without the dynamic lady, unfortunately I forgot her name are simply awesome.. Foam party and aqua gym were marvellous.. Sadly the first impression is most of the time the last one. Some of the check in staffs badly need some grooming.

This is a truly beautiful resort and beach rooms are superb. Staff are friendly and very helpful. Booking through virgin we received some extra perks like a 6 course meal, cocktails at sunset and 15% off spa if fancied. Although families are welcome, there were not a lot of children making it a beautifully relaxing place for couples. We would recommend Tamassa and will look forward to booking again.

Lovely resort, very friendly staff. Great food, resort offers lots of activities so no need to really go out much. Nice & clean rooms. Loads of swimming pools & got it's very own gym. Food is great & Mahesh (head chef) is an extremely friendly & nice guy, his always making sure everyone has the best experience when it come to tasting food. Would definitely go back!!

Excellent location..very spacious and green...excellent facilities and rooms...and most if all excellent staff and service...friendly and very helful. Special thanks to Hemlata at reception...and Aurore and her colleague at the fitness centee who made our stay memorable as well as many others whom i cant recall the names unfortunately...there was a lovely lady who brought me a tasty almond croissant at breakfast tobtaste...thank you. Fantastic resort and phenomenal team! Organised a family reunion - had 40 guests flying from across the world to Tamassa, Mauritius. The staff before our holiday and during our stay were exceptional! Special thanks to Anesh, Parvesh, Navin and the executive Chef Vinay who ensured that our family was well looked after throughout our trip - truly grateful for making it such a memorable experience! Phenomenal value for money, brilliant facilities, exceptional variety of food, and most importantly friendly & attentive staff who catered to our every need! Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Great Resort, maybe not the newest, but in 7 stays in Mauritius, this has the best beach, great friendly staff and great food. Very well kept facility and just a great place to be, really beautiful area and atmosphere....

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tamassa Hotel which was achieved through the hard work and diligence of all staff at the resort.
An all inclusive hotel which is not only good for your pocket but excellent cuisine led by Head Chef Vinage and Pastry Chef Sundiren.

Tamassa has an amazing panoply of services, facilities and pleasant customer relations. The food is simply amazing, especially their a la carte restaurant Playa. Their buffets are well varied as well and you get a wide range of drinks too.

We stayed here for seven nights. It was probably the best holiday we have had. The staff at the Tamassa were fantastic , were very helpful and made sure you we're always taken care of.
The room was faultless and we had an ocean view. There was plenty of activities going on and I recommend the cycle ride with Jonathan. He was really informative and took us to La Chateau, which is an old chateau in stunning grounds. We then cycled on through the villages of Bel Ombre and Baie du Cap and then on to Maconde with stunning views towards Le Morne.
The food is excellent with plenty of choice . We used the buffet as they had themed nights ranging from Mauritian, Indian, Middle Eastern , international etc. The Chefs are really passionate about their food and it shows with the quality and taste.
The whole complex is well maintained and spacious you never felt crowded. The beach does have some coral on it, it's the best beach around Bel Ombre. The sea is Crystal clear and there are so many fish to see, you can even feed them. I would recommend the Tamassa hotel and Mauritius as a holiday destination , you will definately have a great time.
Also the views of the night sky are fabulous as there is not much light pollution and as someone who is from the northern hemisphere it was a treat to lay on the beach and look up at the constellations with the southern cross so prominent! Amazing!!

Basic hotel without special decoration, the beach towel must be picked up at the boat house .... the buffet a scandal !!!! Do not go very bad value for money !!

Very comfortable hotel, very quiet. Impeccable service. 3 classic pools (limited to 1m20 so no dive, splash, noise) plus a smaller, beautiful, hidden in the middle of the spa. To recommend for a Zen stay (no big animations, nightclub open 2 times a week, ...)

Superb setting, well-kept rooms vary, staff very attentive to Brian's guests at the beach, Paul the caretaker Philippe at the bar and Annastazia at the front desk and I forget they are really listening to the customer. My son was slightly suffering even the manager of the hotel was asking me news. A BIG THANK YOU for this stay and it is only a goodbye ...

Food, Rooms, Staff are all excellent. You can snorkel off the beach and see multiple varieties of fish and coral. Drinks and entertainment all top notch. Nice gym, nice spa, literally nothing to complain about so far.

Kids club was great melani megna you are so lovable my kids miss you so much surely will come again warm welcome friendly staffs at the bar drinks was nice and good service room was clean wel decorated and thank you for the birthday surprise and for everything but should add more variety of foods please

I love staying at hotel tamassa.Extremely good food and a big pool. Love the security card which is used to open door..

The only thing I'm sad about, is how isn't this hotel a 5 star hotel.. the weather can get kinna "dirty", but it's an amazing hotel ! And do enjoy this spa and massage..

Fantastic hotel in a great location. Clean and modern finishes in the recently upgraded rooms and great facilities all round. And the burgers from the burger van are exceptional!

Fully satisfied but unfortunately spent only one day due to other commitment. Thanks for the hospitality.
