So, we were on vacation N. Alabama when my wife did a tumble down the stairs broke her tibia in multiple places and the ankle bone - the talus on left leg and was told she required surgery. The local ER could not do the surgery to stabilize the ankle so we drove down to TMH to address this emergency. She came into the hospital crying due to pain! Not one person asked if she needed anything. A friend of the family, who is a trauma ortho surgeon said my wife definitely needed immediate surgery. A colleague of his was also consulted and agreed, yet an ER doctor at TMH without looking at X-rays decided she was not an emergency, ortho on call, who could not bother to talk to my wife, decided she did not need surgery. Mind you the x-rays taken were only of the tibia/fibula and not the ankle. Dr did not listen to my wife, oh yeah we are under COVID conditions and I could not be with her to act as advocate. So disappointed in what is suppose to be a good hospital. If there is unnecessary permanent damage ie.. a vascular necrosis there will be repercussions.

I went in to the hospital for major diverticulitis surgery. After the main surgery an infection developed in my gut requiring a second emergency surgery that required a three day stay in ICU. In all I spent 15 days in the hospital.
I have the highest praise for the TMH staff, especially the nurses. They were friendly, experienced, responsive, and compassionate.
They helped my endure what was a very trying and traumatic experience, and I thank them for that.

My step-father trusted TMH to diagnose & treat him, but instead was charged for sub par care & d/c'd with NO real solution. He can't eat or drink & their treatment was to try to get him to drink Pepsi He was sent home & still can't eat or drink. He was told to f/u with Digestive Disease Clinic & they can't see him until the 30th. Horrible care!! I DON'T RECOMMEND EVER going to TMH! If I pay a $300 co-pay to be seen, I want an actual solution to my problem.

If they had zero stars, that's what I'd give them. RUDEST nurses. I think I'd rather be hurt then get "help" from them. They hire clinically diagnosed Bipolar women to work for them... hello do a back ground check... They also rehire nurses who has bailed on the job, leaving patients unattended and other nurses pulling double shifts. SMH WORST HOSPITAL EVER

This is the absolute worst hospital in the state of Florida , been here about two hours , poor bed side manners. Staff is abrupt and shows no concern for your well being whatsoever . Needs to be shut down!

If I could give no stars I would. My friend went here two days ago and sent her home and said nothing was wrong. She s back two days later in worse condition before. Back at the er and they saw how bad she was and had the worst staff. Not even it was just one lady with medium curly blonde and black hair very rude. We ended up going to Capital Regional Medical Center with better service.

The staff on the 7th floor (cancer center) was amazing. They were very good to my husband and myself. The cafeteria is a little on the expensive side and I think the hospital could use some type of on-site laundry for people with extended stays.

In July 2017. My 2 children, thier neice and nephew all under the age of 9. Along with their father and grandmother. We're in a horrible wreck on their way back home 2 Kansas City. Rear ended by a semi truck while stopped on the highway. None of the children were in car seats. Doctor told me that's what saved their lives. My son had a broke arm, Dad and Grandma had broken ribs. These people were ANGELS. I drove 17 hours from Kansas City to Tallahassee with literally just gas money. Upon my arrival at the hospital I found 3 of the kids playing in a playroom being watched by the nursing staff. Dad was on another floor for care. These ANGELS put my girlfriend in the Ronald McDonald House overnight. I stayed with the kids. They went above and beyond with their Care and Compassion not only for the children but me as well. Upon release of the children they found a store that gave us car seats for All of the children free of charge. I never got to tell these Wonderful people THANK YOU! For Everything that they did. GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!!

I don't even want to give one star..
First time at this hospital and hopefully last! Came in pregnant, informed receptionist of severe abdominal pain and stated I was scared due to previous miscarriage. Waited 1 hour before vitals and triage and 2 hours before bloodwork.

Then 20 minutes later requested more blood!??

Some young fellow came in 30 minutes after me complaining of a sore throat and was taken back. The lack of patient care is herroundous! I would not SUGGEST NOR REFER anyone to this hospital ever!! The reception speaks about other patients and has very bad BED SIDE MANNERS FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN PAIN! I wish I would've REVIEWED this hospital before choosing care. Seeing that I'm pregnant my baby comes first! Never again TMH! 4 hours shows how much this hospital and staff really care about a pregnant (in pain) woman

The ER wait time is ridiculous. After waiting for over 2 hours, I asked the assistant at the front desk how much longer would I have to wait. Her response was: There's a patient that's been here for 6 hours!! Ok.... for one...6 hours???!!! Secondly, I asked about my wait time not another patient's. I politely asked again, and she politely said she didn't know. So I sat down, waited about 30 more minutes and decided to go to another hospital. I pray that their ER is able to hire more staff, to meet their patient's needs, in the future.

Awful experience trying to find parking. As spacious as Tallahassee is, there should never be parking issues. Must have a ticket to enter parking garage. Then must drive in circles for an hour to find no parking. Then upon exiting, a person is there to get the parking fee. Not sure how service is inside hospital as I have yet to gain access. Makes me think I'm in metro Atlanta going to Grady. Insane.

When you think of the E.R. and the hospital, norma...

When you think of the E.R. and the hospital, normally you think of a unit who can help you. I tell you, the visit to TMH E.R. hands down has got to have been one of the worst experiences I have had from any organization offerring a service to people... let alone a medical facility. This e.r. treats the people who come in, like a factory... their sole purpose is to turn over beds... sort of like how fast food restaurants have a timer for someone in the drive thru;the only difference is instead of made to wait, or admitted, I was kicked out.

I came in with several symptoms, one where i had not been able to eat in several days. I also have a life threatening issue, that they completely disregarded. I was told "Do you know this is an emergency room"... as if the issues, which were chronic, I had been dealing with for several days were unworthy. To make a long story short, I was kicked out. Unfortunately the doctor on call when i was checked in, left. This left the course of action undebatably up to the nurses, who all had extremely bad attitudes. The entire time I had been told conflicting information. For the remaining hours that they documented they gave me the smallest dosage of morphine, I waited in my car for hours. I was dehydrated and in pain... as I was stranded and the E.R. had refused to further help me. Maybe an hour of sitting in my car, I called up to my hematologist who had a room in the hospital called up for me. Even when I called back to get additional information one day later, the nurse in charge just had a nasty attitude. If you are a sickle cell patient, dont even deal with the individuals in the e.r... if youre having complications requiring your doctor to make accommodations, it would be less pain to fall into a coma then to deal with these half trained , nasty, nurses in the e.r.

About 18 months ago, while talking w/ my husband, I lost the use of my L hand, arm and shoulder in 5 min w/ the most horrific pain imaginable. He rushed me to TMH ER and signed me in. Weeping uncontrollably w/ pain, I was made to wait 3 hrs to be seen by an MD. who immediately gave me 2 rounds of morphine so they could do 2 MRI's.
I had a complete collapse of C 4/5. Was an emergency admit and had emergency surgery to repair and replace disk (by an incredible Dr, Authur Lee, MD)
My husband had asked to speak to Head of ER after 2 hrs of waiting. She offered ibuprophen and when asked by my husband why we had to wait so long when we were told we were 'Level 2', she reaponded, "Everyone is told they are Level 2 if they do not present w/ immediate life threatening symptoms. Then we take people in order of the time they sign in." OMGosh! So, I had to wait till after everyone with a cough was seen!
After I recovered from the surgery, I wrote the Executive Director of TMH explaining my experience and asking him to respond with what he would do to correct the situation.
HE NEVER GAVE ME THE COURTESY OF A RESPONSE!

Please be advised.

horrible experience. My step-son was brought here from Tifton after a head-on collision. They did an MRI and CT scan and wanted to discharge him. Seriously?? His wounds weren't even cleansed. We only saw a doctor after we asked for his case manager (never got to see a case manager). They kept him 3 days, changed sheets once, and couldn't find a shower chair. No wheelchair at discharge, walker only. Will never recommend.

Wow..all recent comments are correct..I am writing from an "emergency room" and after 3 hours, my dad is still waiting to be "seen"...if doctors don't show up in next ten minutes, then I am moving my father to another hospital in order to save his life. Even third world countries hospitals are not this bad.

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This i...

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. This is by far the worst hospital I have ever experienced. Granted, most hospitals are not fantastic, but of the many that I have experienced with my grandmother who frequents the ER this is by far the worst! The only way you get in fast is by the ambulance, and even then expect waiting several hours to see a doctor or nurse to be assessed or get any kind of treatment. My 82 year old grandmother who came in the ambulance, was in severe abdominal pain, extreme nausea, and excessive bathroom bouts was debilitated for hours upon hours. She had been in the ER since 5 AM and was not given the correct nausea and pain medicine to control her acute symptoms until 6 PM!!! She came to the hospital on a Sunday and did not leave until Friday at 6 pm! And though all of that he conditions only got worse before they got tired of dealing with her. She said that when guest were not visiting she was thrown around by nurses and treated terribly, she was never tried on solid foods before being discharged. Anytime you wanted anything done you had to tell a nurse, who would tell her manager, who would tell the resident, who would tell the doctor above them before anything could be approved! Nothing in this hospital is urgent or professional. We hoped for much more considering the fact that this is the state capital and there are 2 large universities in this area. But nonetheless this place is TRASH. Do yourself a favor and visit an urgent care or the other ER or hospitals in the area.

This hospital is not clean! I have spent several weeks in this place over the last year. Housekeeping is seriously and dangerously missing. Second issue: many of the nurses are recent hires from other countries. They do not understand simple words that can affect your care. I speak from personal experience.
Third: get ready to share a tiny room that is dirty upon check in. I literally watched a guy clean the room in under 3 minutes before they wheeled in another patient. No sanitizing of anything.
Avoid this hospital.

My first year college student niece sat in your ER for 8 hours last night in pain, respiratory distress, with a pounding headache, and vertigo. She was met by an exceptionally rude and ill-informed triage person who kept telling my sister that my niece had been seen by a physician. When in fact, she was in an exam room and had not been seen by any medical professional until "shift change" when a nurse offered her Motrin for her pain. If we had read your previous reviews, we would have seen that this is how you usually treat first year college students who are sick, as stated three months ago by another reviewer. It appears that there has been no improvement to your ER's customer service and your ER's consistently poor treatment of the local college students.

I went to ER and they made me wait 8 hours to see anyone, and when I finally did they told me my arm was broken and they had to set it and cast it. They gave me morphine after I hadn't eaten for hours because the ER nurse told me I would have to check in again if I left to get food from the cafeteria. This place is a joke, especially for a hospital in a capital city.

I had an operation here, followed by a three-day stay. Horrible does not begin to express the level of inadequate treatment I received. It may be the staff is deficient in their knowledge, or there is a failure in communication. Possibly both.

Several years on, on a weekend after suffering a dangerously high fever, I went to their ER. I had become unable to walk, and was wheeled in by a friend. We left six hours later ( at ~ 10 p.m.) after failing to be seen. Oh, a nurse did respond to our inquiries by bringing out a couple of Tylenols in a cup. The bill for this? $200.

There is another hospital in town which I later discovered, and which has an excellent triage platform in their ER. A nurse assesses you within five minutes of check-in. My experience there was outstanding.

I wanted to create a T shirt after my TMH experience saying simply:

"I Survived TMH".

Nuff said.

(I'm too lazy to create an entry for the TMH cafeteria - this review is for the cafeteria. I'm pretty sure I already reviewed the medical part of TMH previously...).

I will state for the record that I am a Cafeteria aficionado. Remember Morrison's in Governor's Square - next to Sears? I think that was likely TLH's last hurrah concerning the cafeteria world. That said, I've always been a fan of TMH's caf'. I will COME to this cafeteria for lunch without having any business in the Hospital per se.

There are multiple centers within the cafeteria for a broad range of diners. I'll name them as follows: The Comfort Food line, The "I'm a sensible and somewhat adventurous Adult" line, the Salad Bar, the Pizza/sammiches, smoothies Center, and a GREAT sushi / sashimi Center.

Dad's admitted in the hospital as of earlier today - so I'll plan on taking decent pictures over the coming days.

My apologies for not associating any images. I'll need to rely on prose to convey my thorough enjoyment of the TMH cafeteria.

(P.s., back in 2011, I lived up the street and my router wasn't working for a couple of days. I camped out in this cafeteria and conducted business during that period. Strong WiFi then - and now!)

I didn't want to give ANY stars!! As a parent who lives 7 hours away from her child I was completely outraged when my daughter told me what happened to her. She is away for school over there.. She has ovarian cysts and went to the ER due to severe abdominal pain and bleeding.. She was confused by the construction so when she walked to the ER she asked the staff if she was in the right place to be seen for abdominal pain. She was told "you can go where you want too". The other two staff members at the desk said nothing so my daughter left! They let her leave! After she said she was in severe pain! Who allows a patient to walk out knowing that she's in pain?! Unprofessional and rude!

Had a great experience at Bixler Emergency Department. All the staff did their absolute best to give me excellent service and help me. I was treated with the upmost respect and empathy, the room and ED equipment was clean and organized. Thank you Liz, RN for being such a great and knowledgeable nurse, also thanks to Dr. Peters for listening and giving me the best possible care and treatment. Grateful to registration, transport, ultrasound techs and all the staff present. Your service was great and you should be proud of that great work.

They almost killed my boyfriend. He was transported via ambulance with severe seizures. When he came to we were at the hospital. The nurse offered him seizure medication and he said, "Ma'am I'm allergic to that medication. I'm on (other seizure medication)." He told her all the way down to the milligram of what he takes. She was very smug and said, "Well we can't do anything then". About 20 minutes later he had the big seizure. We were frantically pushing the nurse button but to no avail. He swallowed his tongue and started turning blue. My family and I were screaming for a doctor. It took a police officer running down the hall for anyone to help. When the doctor came in he was a huge a hole. "Well he refused medication". He did not refuse medication. He needed another brand. Oh and that medicine (which he requested) that they supposedly didn't have? It was administered to him to stop the seizure. Funny how that works.

This hospitals ER is a joke. If you have a life threatening emergency, please go to the other hospital. We took my dad (who had a stent put in 3 1/2 weeks ago at TMH and now has to wear a life vest) there because he was having chest pain and a heaviness in his chest. After a major heart attack, three cardiac episodes, and a stent (all at this hospital) we know that these are symptoms that need immediate medical attention for anyone, but especially someone with his cardiac history. We called his cardiologist and were told to go immediately to the ER. We got there at 2:00 pm, 6 hours later we were still sitting in the waiting room, and had not been seen. We would go to the desk every few hours and ask if they might have an idea of when he might be seen, and we just kept being told we are full so we don't know, it could still be hours. By this point his battery on his life vest had died, which left us in a very dangerous situation. Do we stay and take the chance of his heart stopping with his life vest battery dead and unable to start it back, or do we go home so he can charge the battery. After 6 hours in the waiting room we had lost all faith in the level of care he would receive at this ER, so we decided his chances would be better relying on his life vest to save his life, and not TMH ER and chose to leave. If it would let me give 0 stars I would, because they don't even deserve a 1, terrible ER at this hospital.

I m here because of the tik too I found surfacing online. The Doctor in the video , Erin Boyd was completely out of line. I as well as many others hope she gets disciplined in some way for her actions. Not all people can afford to pay copays. Also not everyone has health insurance or a primary care doctor. Posting this video was a terrible thing to do. She thinks it s funny but at the end of the day it s someone s life. She signed up to take care of all people, regardless of emergency or income.
Really hope this establishment does something to make it right.

My mother had a very bad accident and was taken to TMH, I can't say enough about how professional everyone was. She was in the Neurology Intense Care unit for 6 days and the professional care we received by everyone from housekeeping, med techs, nurses, physician assistants , nurse practitioners, and doctors were the best you could ask for. They all spent so much time explaining everything to the family - Chad Linville was the tops in expertise and care. Especially felt highly of the nurses - wow - just wow - they made the complete difference in my mother getting better so quickly. It was truly life or death and this hospital pulled through for our family. I also can't say enough about the ER staff. It was kind of a "blur" when we were in there with my mother because how critical she was but I do know we felt she was getting the best care. Thank you.

Let me start by saying if they had negative numbers they would receive a negative number from my family. My child is a 1st year college student who was transported by Leon County ambulance service . My daughter was experiencing excruciating pains in her abdominal area on a scale of 1- 10. Her pain was a 10 on the scale. My child was asked by the ambulance staff to walk into the hospital which she did because she is a respectful child. The hospital staff allowed my child to sit in the waiting room in excess of 4.5 hours never given her anything for her pain. When she was taken in the back in triage she still was not given any pain medication. She was released 12 hours later still not given anything for pain. She was experiencing pain as explosive as labor pains. I would not recommend anyone to go to this hospital. They are a bunch of non caring individuals.

I had such a horrible experience from beginning to end. One staff member at the front literally stared at me like I was crazy after I asked her a question and didn't respond. Once I got into the room, the nurse was rude and asked me to change in front of her even after I said "I have never had to change in front of a medical professional. they usually step outside while I do so." She made me feel so uncomfortable. the PA who came in didn't even do a thorough assessment after I explained my reason for being there. the PA was nice but I do feel like she should've taken a few more minutes to get a larger picture of the issue. health care is already so expensive AND then you have to pay all this money to receive service like this? for as long as I'm in Tallahassee, I will only go to capital regional medical center if I ever need emergency services again.

We were driving from Houston to Key West when my husband developed sepsis in the car. I knew the symptoms from six weeks before. Tallahassee emergency room may need improvement, but after getting past that within 20 minutes (probably because he was getting closer to organ failure), there are no further complaints. He was in ICU for 2 days, and 3 days in regular care to get rid of the infection. Everyone was very attentive, professional, knowledgeable, and very caring. We hadn t planned to visit Tallahassee, but we will never forget the fantastic care my husband received which gives us lifelong memories when Tallahassee helped us in our moment of crisis.

Worst experience in a medical environment I ve ever had. Doctors/nurses were extremely rude and seemingly unconcerned. I came in to the ER to get wound care on my hand for a procedure I had had the day before; upon arrival, the doctor rips the packing out of my wound without even asking what happened. After I suggested I didn t need IV antibiotics due to the fact that I wasn t in pain and had already taken all antibiotics that I d been prescribed for the day, the doctor angrily stormed in my room and asked, buddy what did you come here for if you re not gonna let us treat you? After this, I asked the doctor if he could at least disinfect, repack, and rewrap the wound. He then refused to repack it (after he ripped out the packing), didn t use disinfectant, and rewrapped my hand without putting a bandage under the gauze (which lead to the gauze being stuck to my wound when the real doctor who treated me the next day removed my wrapping). One final detail: when wrapping my hand, the doctor used one piece of tape to hold together the wrapping. I asked him to apply at least one more strip of tape so it was tighter and more comfortable; at this point, he hands me the tape and says, do it yourself since you know more than all of us?

I have never been to such a terrible place. The staff is rude and some clearly do not want to be there or help people due to color of skin. Triage for labor and delivery front desk workers are completely racists and I personally have actually been laughed at when asking questions. They never look up from phone/computer and are loud and obnoxious while making jokes with each other which is totally unprofessional in front of patients. I hate the fact that I have to give birth there and unfortunately cannot at CRMC because if i could I WOULD switch! Take my advice, if you have the option to choose a different hospital then do so!
