Tacofino Gastown Reviews

Tacofino offers great food but the portions are slightly small. The Gastown location is very clean and modern. Friendly staff. Always a must for me.

I know its a twist on Mexican tacos, but definitely a disappointment. Quality food for sure, but quite pricey for what i would pay for a taco . Please do try them, everyones got different taste. Personally i was looking for the closest Mexican experience in the city and that must go to Chanchos or La Catrina.

Very good food and atmosphere. I would not suggest this place if you are just looking for regular tacos.

My friends and I arrived right on time for Happy Hour. I got a pear ginger margarita which was great. The nachos are delicious and we got wings as well. Great service, great food. Will be back.

I guess this place is always busy but it got crazy packed towards the end of happy hour. Menus (both HH and reg) offer variety. I found it was overall pretty good but quite salty, even for my taste.

Nachos are amazing, possibly the nicest thing I ate in Vancouver. The tacos were quite nice, we ordered 2 per person. The only issue was that the music was very loud and for us, this ruined the atmosphere for our group dinner.

Visiting my adult kids in Vancouver and they brought me here for a late lunch. A but skeptical about a taco place in Vancouver but I was willing to try. A great selection of beers we ordered a variety or items: Eggplant Taco; Pork Gringa; Fish Tacos; and Grilled Romaine Salad. The tacos were soft tortillas so a surprise the the stuffings were excellent, for me especially the fish tacos (pacific cod, salsa fresca, chipotle mayo.) Having had fish tacos from Baha up the western seaboard, there rated right up there. I will be back, but be advised it is not a large place and fills up fast.

Wow the nachos and guac! Wow the wings! Would pass on the ceviche, very heavy in coconut milk. Loved the fish, steak, pork gringa ... wasnt impressed with the pork belly, too much beans

Finest Tacos. Chicken burrito is an easy winner. Cocktails aren't too shabby either. I bring my pals here when they visit from out of town.

We tried another establishment looking for tacos, but the service was severely lacking so we walked out ended up here.

I am so glad we did. Our server took time to help my wife find items within her dietary restrictions (celiac) and answered all questions knowledgeably and passionately.

How were the tacos? With the size of the tacos, two normally would have been enough, but I ordered a third because they were so damn good. We even went to a second location the next day!

The best place for tacos, make sure to try their tequila castia verdita.

This place was everything I envisioned in a quality taco joint. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff, and of course the best tacos I have ever had! I ordered al pastor, fish, and the chicken tacos. Each taco seemed to out-do the last. For a great experience, and possibly the best tacos on the West coast, I recommend this place 100%!

You HAVE to get the nachos!!! They somehow stay crispy despite being covered in a mountain of excellent toppings including multiple cheeses. Not sure how they do it. Whenever I get nachos most places, the chips are falling apart. These chips supported weight! Also got the fish taco that was really good and one of the pork tacos.

We were literally told about this place by a guy who lives in Seattle and said every now and then he and his wife make the drive up because it's so good. We were in town on vacation and it was definitely worth it.

Venue and decorations were fabulous. Staff was ok. Food was...nothing compared to the Tacofino in Tofino.

Food is ok. Paid $3 for guac and got like 1tsp of it.

The food was only okay when compared against the plethora of other Mexican restaurants in this city. The portion sizes were small and expensive. I have a personal pet peeve about being served wine in a tumbler - it looks trashy and I would query whether it actually held 5 ounces. The restaurant itself is beautiful but service was average and appeared chaotic. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

What a hidden gem! In the heart of Gas Town it is everything you would love and expect from a traditional taco place with fresh ingredients and fantastic flavor. Great service, perfect corn tortillas, fantastic house hot sauce and salsa! The only disappointment was finding it towards the end our trip. Would go back in a heartbeat and suggest you bring your appetite!

Always good food. Busy place, good cocktails. A local bc story. A must visit.

Hard to choose favourite tacos. The standouts for our table were - the crispy chicken, the chorizo and kale, the steak and also the cod.

They handled the dietary issues well.

We ate so well and had amazing service despite how busy they were.

I went there at around 4.30pm and they were serving only two kinds of tacos, fish and pork belly. The fish taco taste was quite complex and it was great. The pork taco was delicious. Tried the Bermuda triangle drink and it was tasty and boozy. The music was noisy and loud as a party of ten was besides me. Apart from the noise, the atmosphere and the service was nice.

Added a star for the expanded menu. Takeout is available in the front, seating for restaurant in the back. Outdoor patio in Blood Alley has some tables too.

Great environment and super friendly service. We went with a party of 7 and everything was fun and light. The tacos were excellent and the chicken wings I highly recommend. Their margaritas are strong and yummy! Beautiful decor and conveniently located in gastown. Easy walk within downtown Vancouver.

We loved the fact that the people working there were very divers and had there own style. Food and drinks are amazing. Value for the money is very good.

This was fabulous, we had some drinks some tacos sat outside and just enjoyed ourselves. The wait staff was really attentive. Definitely will go back if I'm ever in the area.

As a Torontonian who witnessed my own city's burrito wars from the trenches, I am happy for the good people of Vancouver that such a worthy competitor has emerged relatively unscathed from the rubble. Considering the density of manbuns in the city, I can only assume the burrito wars here were equally brutal, if not more so.

Love that's go window always pop in for a chicken burrito on the Run. Haven't really tried much else on the menu since I really enjoy the chicken burrito I tend to stick to what I know. One day I will have to sit down and try the full menu in the restaurant.

I came here after a night out drinking. The burritos and tacos are perfect for a post-drink meal. I also love their food-truck in downtown.

Staff seemed uninvolved with the overall approach to customer service (more of a order and go approach they have, which I enjoyed rather than being harassed every 5th bite if I'm enjoying myself.)

Food was decent but not worth the price. For the cost of the tacos and nachos you can get twice as full for twice as long elsewhere. $52 for a meal for 2 (No drinks just 2 tacos each and nachos with chorisso)

This restaurant is my preferred one. I visit a lot of restaurants but to this place I keep coming back again and again. The team is very helpful and the cuisine they place on your table is so appetizing. I am always happy to have a good meal in this place. I recommend this place with pleasure.

Staff was friendly, and accommodating (we wanted to move inside out of the sun... And it just wasn't a big deal.. Swapped the bill over etc) They really work as a team!
Secondly.... The food was amazing. Spectacular really. Fish Tacos and chips and dip. Yes please!

Cool little Mexican restaurant in Gastown with a good pickup window, ample seating in back and a patio for the summer months. Interesting options include an octopus tostada (decent), a lamb taco (fantastic), a summer salad (perfect) and innovative chip and dips options including black bean, tomato cashew and chickpea on top of the normal options.

I prefer the burritos to go. The tacos on the dine in menu were a little lackluster and the margheritas were too sweet and too spicy respectively.

But it's a nice space and the food is decent.

Absolutely the most delicious tacos. I had the chorizo taco. Only downside is they are ridiculously expensive. $6 for one taco?

Always enjoy Tacofino, especially the fish tacos. The tables are a little close together but I'd rather that than wait a long time. They have a good queue system where it texts you when your table is ready and I believe you can do that before you get there.

Minus 1 star for being pricey.

Definitely not as good as the one in Tofino. Just ate a crispy chicken burrito which was half frozen.
