Great bit of history and stories told by the crew. Was lovely to see the sunset (albeit a cloudy one when we went!) from the ship and to see the harbour from a different angle. Would highly recommend it, really glad we did it.

Went on their Soren Larsen Tall Ship in August for a buck's day party. Despite the rain, we had a great time exploring the cabin, climbing the mast, shooting clays (laser tag only), enjoying their fine lunch, going through some crash course history lessons of Sydney given by their friendly staff.

The boat is not rocky at all and sailed steady along the Sydney Harbour. Clay shooting was fun where we had multiple goes competing with mates how well our aiming/shooting skills were. However the mast climb definitely stole the show. It was definitely a breathe taking experience climbing the mast while the tallship cruising along Sydney harbour.

The quality of the lunch provided is better than expected. They serve out chorizos as snack every now and then. You can purchase drinks from their booth anytime on board (just don't get too drunk!) :P

Some staff are friendly but some could be more interactive/talk. I;m sure they're nice but just a bit shy.

There're lots of discount vouchers available on the net; they're worth checking out.

Just disembarked the lunchtime Convicts & Champagne tour. Due to a docking problem (out of the control of Syd Harbour Tall Ships company!), we were redirected from Goat Island to Cockatoo Island. Still, did an informative tour of the island by our very knowledgeable guide. Returned to ship & had a hearty lunch. Guide also provided plenty of info about Goat Island as we cruised past it. We'd recommend this cruise - great way to sail under the Harbour Bridge, see the sights, take in some history all while relaxing on the water. It's a "YES" from us. .
(We've also done the evening cruise & mast crawl which we would recommend as well )

What a wonder experience...From the minute we stepped on board we felt instantly welcomed and reassured we had chosen the right experience in a competitive harbour cruise market. The diverse crew were friendly and approachable at every moment, our "main guide" was knowledgeable and interactive, and our captain was kind with just the right amount of humour. The food was quite simple but delicious, and the drinks were free flowing with our drinks package. Worth every single cent and more. I would recommend to anyone.

We had a great time aboard the Tall Ship. The staff on board are entertaining and knowledgeable, and the view is of course, gorgeous. It s a bit tricky to find while the harbour is being renovated. The food is pretty basic and the drink selection isn t great, but you re on a boat, so best not to expect fine dining.

Did a harbour cruise for Vivid - was a great experience and definitely worth the price. Our main guide was more than willing to answer questions about the ship and Sydney Harbour so was a good way for visitors to learn some history. He also spoke about some of the famous landmarks as we sailed past.

Food included - whilst not anything fancy it was good considering the price and enough to fill you up. Big thanks to the people who keep the tradition alive!

Vivid cruise absolutely horrible. The rain pelted down, the shelter was insufficient to keep the passangers dry. People stood in front of you because of lack of seats to see light show. Of the four bits of food one of which was cut carrots, the fried calamari was from last week, hard cold and congealed. The "sushi" was frozen, not even thawed. The draw card of this event is the grog: if you like to drink yourself silly and forget what you're doing there for $69, go ahead. If not, stay put or better still, cruise the Quay up and down like everybody else.

We went as a family on the Soren Larsen and were treated to excellent weather. The crew were very friendly, bring around plenty of food and answering every question we asked. The climb to the crows nest gave even better views of the harbour than down on the deck and was well worth it. Cant think of anything negative about this experience, well worth the money for one of the last original tall ships in Australia.

Absolutely horrible company. I called them to enquire about rescheduling more than 48 hours prior to my booking, and they informed me at this point that it ll cost $40 to reschedule and they don t offer refunds. Further to this, the operator could give me no reason for the ridiculous price to move my booking. She also extended to say, yes it s unfortunate, we ve had customers who get very ill and can t make it, they still have to pay the $40 fee.

I booked this because my son loves pirates, I couldn t go because of a surprise military duty. Not only am I losing my weekend with my family, I either lose the money I paid already or pay another $40.

Absolutely senseless cruelty. Blatant robbery.

Don t book with this company unless there is zero chance you ever get sick or may have obligations on the day of your booking.

I m not easily moved, but what an absolute joke.

Had a great day out on Sunday on the Whale watching tour with Sydney Tall Ships. Unfortunately the whales did not appear, but we had great fun sailing in the old ship, attentively looked after by the crew and quite confident about covid precautions being followed. Go while you can, before word gets round!

Booked the Southern Swan for Australia day for me ...

Booked the Southern Swan for Australia day for me and my wife. We were told to be at the wharf at 5:15 to begin boarding the ship. Our ship was supposed to board 15 minutes after the Soren Larsen, but that didnt happen. Because the Soren Larsen was running behind, another cruise ship pulled into the wharf after the Soren Larsen, causing our ship boarding to be delayed. Eventually, the Southern Swan went to a different dock, so we got to board, 30 minutes late. The guide on the ship told us due to the delay, our ship would stay out 30 minutes later to make up for it. More on this to come. When we boarded the ship, we weren't aware that there was no actual seating. I will put this one on me because I knew that we were boarding an old ship, and comfortable seating shouldn't be expected. The cruise began nice, and we made it out into the harbor and the staff began hoisting the sails for the promised ship race with the Soren Larsen. The sails were all set and it was time for dinner (mediocre at best). Then, shortly after dinner, the crew began taking the sails down before any race took place. Supposedly, they said it was because of weather, but the weather was perfectly fine. Now, it was getting close to fireworks time, roughly 9:00. We sat in a great viewing spot for the fireworks for roughly 30 minutes, and then as soon as the real show started, they called last call and began making the journey back to the dock. This was right when the fireworks started and and an hour before we were supposed to head in! We missed the entire fireworks show, while the Soren Larsen sat out in the harbour and watched (even though they had already been out on the water 30 minutes longer than us). We ended up getting back to the dock before them, even though they started their cruise way before us! There was no explanation at all for this when we got off the ship, just a thanks and hope you had fun! Definite tourist trap! Dont go on this boat unless you want to be uncomfortable and lied to.

We joined the on-board crew for a 90 minute evening Vivid cruise around the harbour in the Southern Star a smaller tall ship built in Denmark over 90 years ago.

A warm welcome from gregarious host Tom and friendly crew was a good start. With the passenger manifest limited to 40 there was ample room to move around the deck, and you didn't have to queue long at the open bar or for the on-deck dinner buffet.

The mulled wine was a pleasant way to warm up for the evening. Beer and other beverages were also available. The buffet dinner was basic but nutritious and hearty - prepared and cooked in the deck-house galley by the live-in crew.

A great way to enjoy a panoramic view of the Vivid skyline away from the crowds in the bracing air aboard ship.

You can try your hand at climbing the mizzen mast to get an eagle view of the ship and spice up the experience.

Very good value.

Just returned home from spending the night on the Soren Larsen. We had a wonderful time! The food for the canapes cruise was a really pleasant surprise - better than expected! While the cabins are cramped - it is an authentic 1949 ship - the rocking of the boat seemed to aid sleep. Waking up to watch the sun rise over the Harbour was amazing! After a hearty breakfast, we toured Goat Island - another highlight! Would really recommend this experience!

Mum & I thoroughly enjoyed the twilight cruise around the stunning Sydney Harbour aboard the "Swan"! Informative commentary, entertaining crew, unique experience, amusing anecdotes, incredible scenery, a true working vessel & just plain fun! Loved the fact that I could hoist the sails, steer this amazing ship & climb the mast to take in the amazing view from the crows nest...(I have the certificate to prove it)! Double thumbs up

We were gifted the lunch sail and went for a delightful sail yesterday. We thoroughly enjoyed it and found the whole crew to be friendly and super helpful. Tom was very entertaining and knowledgeable. My 61 year old hubby even climbed the mast! Food was delicious too. But the true star of the show is the magnificent ship herself. She is an awesome vessel, steeped in history and tradition. We highly recommend Sydney Tall Ship sails to everyone.

A great experience. Staff were both friendly and helpful. The experience guide was phenomenal, his knowledge and helpfulness was second to none. We really enjoyed being able to steer the boat. Food was acceptable. A good way to spend a few hours and see the sights around the harbour. Cost was worth it. I would 100% recommend this experience to friends. Five stars .

Had a very relaxing sail on board The Southern Swan yesterday. We had perfect weather for a sail around Sydney Harbour lunch was good and the brownie yummy. Thanks Captain Andy and crew.

Boat experience was nice and the view was spectacular. Food was delicious but not enough for a buffet only had a plate and a little bit and it was all gone. Cheap beers and wine ofcourse, might have to go on the other boats where you get better drinks and more standing space for a couple 10s more. No smoking allowed says the skipper because of the diesel yada yada lol

Definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Sydney. A delightful experience! A Sydney tall ship cruise offers stunning views of Sydney harbour and its environs, delicious food and lively entertainment. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating or helpful. I would recommend this experience to all visitors.

Stayed on the overnight cruise. Canapes were lovely although they ran out of ham and cheese croissants. They served little sushi, wraps, brownies, chicken skewers and mini pies. Also included unlimited wine and soft drink. The beds were comfy. It did smell though. Perhaps we got a cabin too close to the toilet. We climbed the mast which was beautiful. The water is very calm so no need to worry about seasickness. The breakfast was nice too - bacon, eggs, mushroom, toast and coffee. The walk on Goat Island was excellent - historic and informative. The staff were also great!

Dear Sir / Madam,

Dear Sir / Madam,

Last night, Friday 4th April my wife and I attended your Ship Tease Burlesque Show on the Southern Swan Tallship.

This was the first time we have attended one of your shows.

I am writing to let you know we had a wonderful night. Your staff were so polite and wonderful actors, nothing was a problem for them and they treated all the passengers like they were the only person on the Tall ship. They left us wanting more.

Again it was a delightful experience and we will be recommending your show to all our friends.

Thanking you

Paul Norris

My partner and I booked a twilight cruise through Groupon where we only paid half price.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time, the ship its self is incredible to be on, especially when they use the sails. The food was nothing fancy but it was still a very enjoyable feed + open bar is always great. The staff of the ship where very friendly, one staff member had the the dedicated role of simply mingling with the guests and sharing the history of the harbour which I thought was excellent.

I also paid extra on the cruise to climb up the net to the crows nest, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it to any adventurer.

Overall a great way to spend an evening in Sydney.

Bought the tickets on Groupon so was good value for 3 people and included open bar which was great.
Was a fun day being out on the harbour in an historic tall ship.
Only disappointment was they don't set full sails! Which is what you want to see when out on one of these beautiful tall ships.
They only ever drop one sail for "show" and continue to drive with the smelly Diesel engines.no one seems to notice or comment so they continue to do it as I see the tall ships going past most days.
Perhaps it's too much work for them to set full sails ???
Regardless I still recommend

Took my one and only on a vivid cruise around Sydney Harbour. Didn't see a lot of vivid but had a beautiful 2 hours with history lessons about the harbour. We had a great night out and can't wait to do it again. The Southern Swan is our boat.

I went out on the 12th March, not only the toilets weren't working, but when it came to the food , we had to stand up and eat of of pastic plates on the beck. No where to seat down. We motor out half and sail back with only two sails. Would have been better to catch the Manly ferry with a take away.

AMAZING!! What an adventure. We went to the lunch cruise and climbed the mast as well. Jim, Marty, Tom and the rest of the crew were phenomenal. So many incredible stories and adventures accompany magnificent views. It's really quite a surreal experience getting on a historic ship! Highly recommended. We'll definitely be back for a weekend sail. Thank you team!

We really enjoyed our tall ship experience around Sydney harbour. I take a ferry nearly every day, but it was still amazing to slowly move around the harbour on a great big ship.

The staff were really friendly and very knowledgeable, and the mast climbing experience looked like a lot of fun.

The food was a quite tasty buffet, but be warned it's not fine dinning, you'll be enjoying your meal off a paper plate on your lap.

Finally, make sure to bring your camera, you'll get some amazing photos of the ship, the Opera House and the harbour bridge.

Great experience!

We did the sunset cruise on the harbour. Headed from Campbell's cove out past Shark island. It was a perfect Sunday afternoon, I climbed up the mast and got a great view of a stunning sunset behind the bridge. Turned around and came back to the quay under sail.

We got dinner as part of the package, washed it down with a few reasonably priced beers.

We loved it. The crew was friendly and helpful and we would recommend it to anyone

We had our afternoon 4pm - 530pm harbour tour yesterday. Me and my wife, our 22 month old son. We loved it! I recommend making the most of it - climb the mast and enjoy the view. I personally climbed to the top and shouted my 2015 goals for the whole city to hear!

Open bar voucher is great, you get a lot of drinks, some good snacks.

Also, go downstairs and explore how a XIX century type of ship looks under the deck. Smell of timber and history makes the walk through the hallway interesting and for a moment you forget you're on a ship. More like a house. Then suddenly it all moves and you're reminded to get back upstairs to see what's going on.

We're locals here, but loved it a lot.

Recommend it.

Always enjoy a Sydney Harbour cruise on the tall ships. We have sailed on the Southern Swan a couple of times over the years - both lunchtime and evening buffets. Hard to decide which is best: both times of day are good.

Staff were very friendly and informative about the history of the boat and tall ships. Our tickets came with free drinks which was worth the extra price. A little disappointed that the food provided was only one small serving with no option for seconds as they ran out after everyone had one go. Worth the price though!

The guides are amazing, captain is fun, and the service is great! I do the cruise back home every other day, but learnt new things about the islands and the bridge and boats during a great evening out on this old Swedish ship from 1948.

This was an awesome cruise We didn't do the mast climb, but I will on my next cruise, when I rebook in January. Easy climb & certainly a fabulous view of the city.
It's a Family business. The commentary was very informative & they looked after us brilliantly with Covid protection & finger food. Would definitely recommend this cruise

Hubby and i had a great time sailing around the harbour for two hours. The value for money was amazing. Unlimited drinks, choirzo and pastries for starters and for lunch they served us 4 fresh salads and rice and chicken or pumpkin stew/curry. Brownies for dessert! It was all so amazing! The best part by far was our host Tom. The whole trip he told us amazing and interesting stories about the harbour and its heritage. We both will definitely be back. Thanks guys!

Overall my wife and I had a good time and enjoyed the experience. Staff very friendly, captain very knowledgeable and the boat was historic and fun to explore, and of course Sydney Harbour provided great views. Now onto the cons, i honestly cant see how the operator justifies what they charge. We paid ~ $260 for the dinner cruise and drinks package for 2 people. The cruise in Winter only goes for 1.5 hours even though we arrived back at the dock in broad daylight at the completion of the cruise and could have stayed out for much longer. As this event is sold as a dinner cruise, you would expect the dinner to be one of the star attractions of the evening. We were offered a buffet which consisted of a few different types of salad, some boiled rice and a chicken dish which closely resembled a store bought simmer sauce (but to be honest was quite nice). The kind of dish you would have as a uni student at a house party. For the price we paid i expected something far more substantial and 1.5 hours is not long enough to feel like you've really sailed around the harbour. We had a good time but i would expect to pay well under $200 for what we received. Parking is also really only via parking station so factor in another $25 on top of the cost of the cruise.

Having experienced many trips/experiences on board the tall ship cruises, including the vivid festival in 2014 and 2015, my husband and i were looking forward to sharing this great experience again this year with family and friends but we were sorely disappointed. The whole dynamic had changed and definitely not in a postive way. The staff, previously so engaging, were disorganised and not interested or interesting; the food was poorly organised and took way too long to serve, the previous bbq style buffet above deck was certainly preferable to the new ststem of taking people below deck in groups of 10, which would have been okay if the people who had already eaten were then directed to other areas instead of them queueing to take more food ahead of passengers who had not yet eaten. Finally the live music on previous cruises was so much more atmospheric and sadly missed on this cruise. It would be safe to say that I will not be rushing to book on another tall ship cruise.

We did the Convicts, Castles & Champagne Tour with Sydney Harbour Tallships; and, the experience was fantastic. Our satisfaction was made possible due the professionalism and promptness of the crew. We left on time; the crew was COVID conscious; the Goat Island tour was informative; we were fed well; the staff are all friendly & helpful; and overall, it was a great way to see & enjoy the Sydney Harbour.
Highly recommended.

This was hands down one if the most fun things I have done with my child. My little one was thrilled to be able to help raise a sail and to pilot the ship by taking a turn at the wheel. The crew could not have been more welcoming or gracious. I totally recommend this as one of the more affordable and fun ways of doing something interesting with your kids.

All aboard! Jumping onto one of these old ice breaker ships was such a wonderful experience, skipper Marty and his crew were so welcoming and passionate. The twilight dinner cruise was on a perfect day with some cloud cover and a peaceful yet full breeze, life aboard one of these gems would have been hard based on what we were told during our introduction and shown throughout the voyage where we were offered a chance to help hoist the sails into position for the return from shark Island.
The value of this is was much higher to my partner and I than what we were charged.
Thank you so much for the experience and for being such gracious hosts.

I have been on at least half a dozen cruises with Sydney Tall Ships over the last 6-7 years so I've had a good range of their cruise experiences. From the sunset cruise, brunch, a full day whale watching past the heads, climbing the mast, the Vivid lights night cruise. I always enjoy it (and this includes when it was rainy and windy) and the crew are wonderful. The best bit is those gorgeous tall ships, it's like being on a floating wooden museum and each one has her own story of past lives from the other side of the world. The food is pretty standard but there is always plenty of it. I absolutely love that they are talking more about more about the Indigenous people who originally lived here when they talk about the history of Sydney Harbour. Highly recommend any of the cruises either as a local or with visitors to Sydney.

Simply, not good enough. We received an email with new docking information 5 minutes prior to sail time. It was a trip with my elderly parents who would not be able to run/walk the 15 minutes to the new location, not that it would matter if they could, as the boat left anyway (despite us calling & flagging with the company, so whilst the company said to hurry and go to the new location - they set sail anyway.)

The company rescheduled us for the following day without much empathy, remorse or reason for receiving such a critical piece of communication 5 minutes prior to docking. The new confirmation email was for the wrong day and wrong time, so second time - missed.

The harbour is incredible from whatever way you see it - you don t need to add the stress and frustration to it by going with Sydney Tallships.

We were given a gift voucher for afternoon cruise and decided to upgrade to evening dinner cruise and took the drink package as well. The cruise itself was lovely and we couldn't have picked a better day weather wise. Was instantly disappointed when I saw so many people boarding. Was very cramped with limited seating. Had to make your way trying not to step on toes to get a drink. My husband had two beers as after that they were warm as they ran out of ice for chilling. Meal was not worth the money with staff serving minimum amount of hot dish. Only went to shark island and back. Normally i dont write reviews but was so disappointed with what we got for what we paid. Feel like it was just a money making exercise. More value on the manly ferry

Great day out on the harbour. Andrew and his team really looked after us and made sure our group had a wonderful time on the tall ship. Andrew s knowledge of Sydney Harbour and Sydney in general was incredible and he was a captivating story teller. Having lived in Sydney for most of my life and having been out on the harbour many times, I didn t realise how much I didn t know. Great food, great crew and well run. Thoroughly recommend this to tourists and locals as a great trip out on the harbour.

Harbour experience = great

Harbour experience = great
Boat = good but not enough seats for everyone and some people had to stand to eat.
Food = Awful...not a three course meal as advertised. It was it was two bowls of salad and a spoon of chicken on a paper plate with paper knifes and forks, sausages on sticks and packet brownies.
Crew = ok but bar service was poor as was selection of drinks

As you know, most seas are windy. The ship was shaking too much, but it was obviously great to see the great view on it. I think it was the best spot to take photos of Opera House.

If you have any plan to do ship trips, don't forget to bring your jacket.

Fantastic day out on Sydney harbour. The crew where chilled and the ship sailed well. The captain motored the vessel all the way up to shark island and the shut down the engines to let the wind sail us back to the harbour bridge. A 2 hour water trip with a nice lunch prepared by the crew. Drinks were extremely well priced so we had quite a few. I would gladly promote this little getaway to my friends. It was my wife's birthday and she enjoyed herself completely. A family of 4 was under $300. The bridge walk costs 370 for 1 person and no lunch or drink... well done guys. Thank you again
