Incredibly rude. Went in for take away and the shop girl said she can't take anymore orders because she needs to make coffee & serve the other patrons in the store. WHY IS THE CASH REGISTER Girl making and serving coffee? She isnt a barista. When asked about getting take away, she replied with the kitchen is full and can't take any orders either yet the sign is out open and there are empty seats outside. How can you even buy take away chocolates then for a store that sells take away chocolates? Management needs hire more staff or have someone in front taking a waiting list for patrons who enter. Better yet upate the technology where there is a booking time iPad in front of managerment does not want to hire more staff. Such poor practices for a business especially one promoting the region and community.

Ice chocolate uses chocolate syrup and vanilla ice cream (not chocolate ice cream as advertised) and was super sweet to taste anything else (zero choco taste). Go somewhere else to spend $7.
Had wondered what the chocolates here were like. Had some visitors buy us a pack of 10 as a thank you. I can comfortably say they are the worst chocolates I've had in a long time. Cheap compound grainy chocolate that you would get at Easter in the cheap egg packs. We ate 1 between 2 of us and the rest went in the bin. Save yourself a lot of money and go to the Chocolate Mill a 5min drive down the road. I have a fatty sweet yucky taste left in my mouth. No exaggeration, we are legitimately shocked at how bad these chocolates are.
Seems like every time we were in Daylesford, we are drawn to this little cafe close to the end of the main Street. This time round we had hot chocolate and Moka to go with the tasty scones. We can confirm that they have real chocolate in their beverages. It kept us wondering if they use Swiss or Belgian chocolate. They also stock generous sized handmade chocolates which seems to be very popular with the tourists. We can definitely recommend this cafe to anyone who has a sweet tooth.
Beautiful quaint little chocolate shop, it is very small and difficult for people trying to squeeze past the counter as realistically can only serve one person at a time!!! The chocolates are very expensive $25 for 10 which is excessive for a bit of chocolate, however it is absolutely delicious!!!
OMG this joint must look urgently into their staff work ethics, as it is deplorable. My wife and I were served by the most unmotivated and rude female attendant, who finally took our order after not noticing our presence in the service bar for a good while.
We ordered and payed for 2 coffees and some cake, but decided to cancel it and leave the premises after we returned to our table and chatted a bit about the waitress' poor behaviour.
I can't tell if their products are good, we never tried it, but I can assure the atmosphere was unfriendly and we felt unwelcomed.
On a positive note, we had our money refunded without hassle.
Has changed hands in the past two years and gone down hill fast ... Chocolate is terrible quality .. coffee rubbish . . The front window and floors filthy and the shop freezing cold !
The place has lost its charm .. ambience and warmth due to the new owners refusal to spend $$$$
16 degrees and he refuses to light the fireplaces!! Terrible.
Just had their BLT with chips a long black and a decadent hot chocolate. OMG it was absolutely mouthwatering. Feeling like i have just been in heaven and come back with a full tummy
Had wonderful tea and scones here just beside the fireplace. Quint little cafe that is really busy, and nice chocolates. Staff were very attentive and helpful.
Then again, anyone who serves me extra helping of cream for my scones are always good people.
Just had the misfortune of stumbling into this poor excuse for a chocolate cafe.
Went in with my little seven year old daughter for a quick browse.
Was not going to buy anything but figured would give their decadent hot chocolate a chance again (be warned: their regular hot chocolate feels like watered down chocolate milk from coles). Begs the question of why the need for a decadent versus a regular hot chocolate, why not just have a decent hot chocolate?
Attempted to get the attention of 2 waitresses who were standing around chatting amongst themselves, finally success after 10 minutes which consisted of a grunt, some vague gesturing to figure it out yourself before returning to their conversation, and finally after another five minutes of fruitlessly attempting self-service, a menu was procured.
All up $16 for a decadent hot chocolate and a small block of chocolate.
Decandent hot chocolate was barely passable for a local milk bar hot chocolate.
To add the pestilent, disgusting cherry on top, asked for a marshmallow for my little one and the waitress just stared back thinking about how much to charge, finally deciding it was too much of a challenge trying to calculate a profit margin on a 5 cent marshmallow and handed one over with a snarl.
Top tip - please just take the extra effort and drive the extra 10 mins / 9.4km to 5451 Midland Hwy - Chocolate Mill if you ever want anything chocolate related in Daylesford that has excellent service, great chocolate ($6 for a delicious hot chocolate or a massive $3 scoop of ice cream for the kids) and who won't treat you and your children like an inconvenience.
A few years ago, I used to drive from Melbourne just to buy chocolate for my wife from this shop. The last couple of years, sadly, the shop became average and below average. I gave it a go again last weekend. No improvement. The chocolate is awful. It looks, tastes and feels like it was made by 10 years old 6 months ago. Went straight to the rubbish bin. The chocolate base was to thick and ganache was dry and tasteless. I suggest that instead of defensive replies to low rating posts by customers, the business engages in improvement. There is a good chance to return to the former glory. There are still a lot of customers who would be willing to give a second chance to a former icon of Daylesford.
A quaint little shop with excellent service and some yummmmmy chocolates. They are so good that we put them in all our retreats for our luxury accommodation guests. Dave & Mani
Sad and disappointed to find that they would not serve people if there are guests already being sitted at the counter. Came in to want to buy chocolates however was denied because they were busy. Not sure why they would open if they can not accommodate to people walking in.
Tried a selection of 6 different chocolates from here with my partner and were very underwhelmed. While they were nicely sized they all tasted of cheap chocolate with poor flavour. Very disappointing given the high quality of produce available from the shops in the area, there is better available for less elsewhere.
Great range of hand made chocolates. Not a huge range on the menu but caters well for all tastes, inc a specials board. Quiet cosy atmosphere, great for catch up and chat.
The food was great. Food service was a bit slow, but it was very busy. I think it will be good to have 2 people at the counter, so that staff don't feel stressed which will therefore improve speed. The staff members are very nice and I would definetly go back again.
One of the best places for a quick bite to eat, and fantastic tea and the bestest awesome scones ever! Fantastic staff here, and chocolates that are to die for too! Make sure that you pop in here if you are in this awesome place Daylesford! Definitely a must.
This lovely little cafe make delicious chocolates which are absolutely divine. A must stop cafe if you are in the mood for something delicious & sweet.
