The Mrs and I are not big beer fans but don't let that stop you from stopping by for some very good food!
We both had a Surly Burger and they were dang delicious! We'd stopped by a bbq place earlier in the day so the next trip to Surly's will involve the Brisket Sandwich and some form of the Pulled Pork as well....gotta be great based on what we saw.
The Hog Frites were a bit spicy for us but still delicious.
I ventured out of the norm and had a beer named the Over-Rated...nice!

This is the best Brewery in the state! My wife and I have been here 3 times now, before going to a Gophers game, and each time we have been here the service is absolutely incredible! The food is Phenomenal and the beer is absolutely top notch! We will forever be your patrons, keep doing you Surly, do not change a thing!

I love Surly Darkness! Coming in from Chicago to get it on tap is always a pleasure =) Super busy on a Spring Sat. I love the architecture and design of this place and took a few pics. Family friendly and lots of little ones running around

I went there yesterday and had the absolute worst experience I've ever had in my life, me and my girlfriend went there for some lunch and yesterday had a couple burgers and one beer. After we paid out with our server we decided to go up to the bar for a couple minutes while we waited for the taxi, Once we got up there we both ordered a beer and the bartender informed me that I have been cut off after one beer. I continued to show him the receipt from where we were sitting to show him that we only had one beer each. I think he might've misunderstood or cut off the wrong couple, but if you are going to cut somebody off you should know the name of that person or exactly who it is at least. It was one of the most embarrassing moments and I will never go back. If you are looking for a good brewery in the local area I would highly recommend Excelsior brewery or anywhere else, I am embarrassed for this establishment and hope does not happen regularly.

Easily the most hyped and the most deserving brewe...

Easily the most hyped and the most deserving brewery taproom in Minnesota. Yes, you ve seen Furious and crew everywhere and expanding well beyond the Midwest, and they keep experimenting and refining. The brew a huge number of beers, focusing on hops-forward IPAs and also creating a plethora of beer styles each made with excellence. Darkness Imperial Stout has its own cult following as well.

Come to the brewery for tours that include tastings. Put your name in for a table downstairs or try to hang in the courtyard around games and roaring fires that are perfect for summer and fall nights. The food is creative pub fare with an elevated approach to barbecue, burgers, roasted veggies, and more. My favorites are the pork fries and Brussels sprouts.

Head up the stairs and grab seats first-come, first-claim, but be sure to get in line to order food and a separate line to order beer (unless you re sitting at the bar). Surly Pizza Upstairs features charred pizzas that are thinner crust but with savory and delicious ingredients, from classic combinations to spicy and meaty to veggies and unique toppings. I highly recommend a few visits to Surly if you re a beer fan who s hungry.

Great beer, awesome food. If you visit this tap room, look at the food menu and have the muscles. They might be the best I have had. And the bar staff is great and will help you pick the perfect beer.

Fun free beer tour with a fair amount of samples at the end. The staff seem passionate about what they do. Tip your tour guide at the end, and hopefully you will get some additional drink tickets. The food was good as well along with, obviously, a huge selection of Surly brews.

Stopped by for the first time last weekend. We got in line to get beer and apparently weren't standing in a location to an employees liking and were asked to move a foot to the left. We moved and he was happy...we were just confused. Got beer and went outside to sit by the fire which was nice. The beer is fine, the food is fine. Can't say that I'll rush back as I feel there are other breweries with better beer and a nicer environment.

Awesome brewery! We have been here many times. Staff are friendly, beer is great, food is amazing. I recommend the nachos. We went to the pizza opener and the pizza is spectacular! We tried almost all the pizzas and they were all delicious. They even gave us a free pizza and appetizer for patiently waiting for the pizzas. It is always crowded here but well worth it.

Tour was really interesting, we ve seen analog breweries but the state-of-the-art equipment was awesome to see. Tasing afterwards was fun and had some surprises. Had lunch afterwards; I wish we could have all the beers from the beer hall available where we live. Sadness. But the food was amazing and service quick and efficient. I m wearing my Surly hoodie as I write this. :) Thanks for an awesome day! We will be back.

Was excited to go here, but was immediately put off when someone wanted to stamp my hand when we arrived. I'm clearly old enough to drink... by decades! Inside was a din. High ceiling and packed hall. Queued for several minutes to be told it was a 90 minute wait for a table. We tried waiting, but it was just to noisy, so we left. Shame, we had high hopes. Doubt we'll give it another shot even though the food sounds amazing.

This brewery/taproom/restaurant looks like it should be in the mountains. If you're in Mpls/St. Paul visiting, vacationing, on business, it's a must to stop in here. It's unfortunate that Todd is no longer the brewmaster.

I love this place. Great vibe, great food, good beer. (GET THE BURGER) Pretty sure this place is always rocking. I've only seen it quiet over lunch on a Tuesday, and after 9pm on a Thursday. But even if it's busy you can buy pizza up the stairs, and enjoy it out in the expansive back yard/patio area. *Really wish they would keep their lime lager on year round*

The biggest disappointment against Surly is the Pi...

The biggest disappointment against Surly is the Pizza Upstairs. We've ordered the Spicoli and I'm Your Daddy pizzas, hopefully we would be able to share them amongst the 5 of us. What surprised us was that the pizza was very thin-crusted, small in size, subpar in ingredients and taste at best, and it costed over $32 for both pizzas. I thought maybe my recent trip to Italy biased my view on this, but my comrades were equally disappointed. This is the worst value in pizza I've ever had in my lifetime.

Due to the disappointment of the pizzas, we ordered additional appetizers. While the Guac for the chips remained fantastic, some of the food has also degraded in quality as well. The Hog Frites was a huge disappointment. There were maybe two forks of shredded pork in the bottom of the bowl, and the rest were filled with cauliflower, peppers, some fries, and carrots to the top to make it look like a big appetizer.

I've been going to Surly's for over many many years, and each time I go, the quality and value seems to diminish. The beers used to be top notch, highly distinguishable, and characteristic in flavor. Good food associated with a good brewery was what got me excited to make the trip in years' past. Unfortunately, the beers are no longer as special nor unique as what it used to be. Perhaps other micro brewers are growing on me. The company's continual sell-out marketing imagery, sub-par food, and over-priced merchandise retail outlet has now given me Surly a sour taste.

Great tour! Delicious food! And the beer! The beer! We all know the beer is amazing!!!! The server we had that served up our food was smart and helpful. The reason I give 3 stars is the metal music. It is just too much for me. If you like metal, amazing beer and super great food this is your place

This was not my favorite beer that I have had. All things drank there were solid but nothing to write home about necessarily. Prices for their limited, "bomber" sized, barrel series, were off the charts for cost. Atmosphere was super fun and family friendly. Did not have any food on this visit.

Good prices, good beer, good food, good amount of seating yet all this still leads to it being crowded as all hell. If you can manage that, then this is one the better breweries around.

First time going here on national dog day they had an event going on for rescued dogs SUPER fun!! I dont eat animal products and got the cauliflower tacos they were SO DELICIOUS!! Fries we're amazing.. Had a GREAT waiter John and a delicious beer extra citra!! Highly recommended this place!!! Cant wait to go back!!

If anyone ever tells you, "there's no need to get surly," you just reply - OH YES THERE IS and send them here. Great selection of their own beers from stouts to lagers to sours to IPAs.

Also a good food menu, something often lacking at a craft brewery. Don't think taproom, more like a big open seating area and bar along with outdoor seating.

This place gets packed on the weekends, especially in the summer so parking can be a challenge. Valet is available for $7

Had appetizers - Brussel sprouts and duck pastrami. Good taste, but presentation was better. Burgers looked outrageously good

I LOVE beer but this is probably one of my favorite places for food in mpls. I m a pretty picky vegetarian and Surly is normally billed as a barbecue place but there are always veggie options and the new pizza is super good too. Reasonable prices, all kinds of people in the crowd, free brewery tours. Go late afternoon before it s too busy and get a picnic table outside. Get Brussels sprouts - they are amazing.

My husband and I came to tour on Valentines Day/ his Birthday and had a great experience! Our tour guide Molly was by far Amazing! Very knowledgeable and answered everyone's question, without hesitation! We ate in the Beer Hall and the food was just as great! Highly recommend the beef brisket sandwich! Thanks for great service! We will return again soon and tell all our friends!

Great service & wonderful brews make visiting such a pleasure. I recommend their wonderful brew called "Todd." It has limited availability outside of the brewery, but it's on tap regularly here. Great events occur here complete with performances from local music & other local companies. Enjoy!

Amazing food, great service, beautiful outdoor space, great for kids and, of course, incredible beer. We did, however, have a 90 min. wait for a table, which only worked because some of us arrived ahead of the others.

Awesome place, awesome beer. Unfortunately no gluten free options in the tap room or outside at the concert last night. If you can sell Lift Bridge Root Beer how hard can it be to stock a few cans of GF beer for those of us who can't have regular beer? I love your place but it's a bummer to not be able to enjoy a frosty brew with friends!

Great selection of beers. Saturday evenings are incredibly busy. Staff is helpful and friendly. Good place e to bring guests from out of town. Recommend playing pink Floyd the wall at night against the building next door.

I loved our experience! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The whole facility was enjoyable. The food was amazing and of course the beer was delicious. I reserved a tour for my boyfriend and I and expected to have a nice time but I think you exceeded both of our expectations. We will definitely be back!!

If I could give this a 0 for the food, I would. We went for Father's day, and got the ribs which were on special .3 of the 6 at our table got that, and they were SO salty they were inedible. Not even our 17yo son, who will eat almost anything, could get past more than 2 ribs .
The coleslaw tasted like it only had onions in it, and the fries were cold and hard as rocks .We were charged $3 for a can of coke. To add insult to injury, the entire bill for 3 people was $106 .A rack of ribs was $40 and inedible, and to have 2 sides with your meal was an addition $7. We won't be going back there!!

I've been to many microbreweries around town for various occasions and always have a great time. Today, went to Surly for the first time. Not impressed. They don't offer samples before ordering a beer. Also, they were going to charge us $3.00 per person slicing fee if we had a birthday cake served at the brewery. That, my friends, is a buzzkill.

Awesome tour, awesome facility!

They allow dogs on the Patio so bring your furry friend and enjoy a delicious brew

My wife and I are 3 hours from home and have heard great things about the restaurant. Drove the 20 minutes from our hotel to find out they are closed because they don't have tv's to watch the big game on. There were several people who were not happy as well. The parking was confusing as well and it was not clear where the entrance was. Highly doubt I will attempt to go there again next time we are in the area.

Surly is one of my favorite places on Earth. Really. It s like Disneyland for people like me. I ve hosted a couple of my birthday parties here and I ve probably frequented the place around 75-100 times(no joking). I just love it that much. I bring everyone I know here. The menu is carefully curated and thoroughly exceeds expectations, the beer is absolutely fantastic and the service has never once disappointed me(and I m a service manager). In the summer you can find yourself outside on the patio by the bonfire pits eating hog frites or playing outdoor games with friends. The atmosphere overall is so unique for the area and I m always drawn to it when I can t decide where I want to go for lunch.
Overall I m proud to have a place like this here in the Midwest, it s phenomenal, different and exciting.
You have a lifetime customer in me.

Had dinner/beers this weekend with out of town guests and a gaggle of kids. We were placed near the kids play area, so that was a pretty big win. Our server Topher deserves a double high five for getting the kids food orders in ASAP, it also came out fast AF. He was super patient even after we added people to our table and played a bit of musical chairs to fit them in. He took the time to answer all our questions and surely went above and beyond to make our experience there fantastic.

I attended an event held in the upstairs. My experience doesn't relate to the experience of a normal dining experience. The food was very good, and the beers available were exceptional. The service on the other hand was poor at best with the occasional exception. Most servers were impolite, and ungracious. They only wanted to check the clock to see when their shift ended.
