Everything was on point! Views were great and Prices meet expectations. I could not direct anyone away from something on the menu. I got the lobster Kristina and it was excellent and unmatched as far as I am concerned!

After looking at several other menus for restaurants in town to celebrate birthdays, we settled for Surf. Got there around 5PM on a Friday when it was just starting to pick up and got a table right away. Got a lovely booth facing the water. The waiter, Jake, was wonderful. He went over the specials with us and gave us time to look over the menu. Didn't feel rushed at all. Chose the horseradish haddock with lobster mashed potatoes and the sea scallops special of the day along with a couple appetizers and cocktails. Every item we ordered was absolutely delicious. It was the type of meal you think about a week later and want to eat again. We'd eaten here a few times before and had a great experience as well. The very first time we tried Surf, Jake was our waiter and patiently explained the menu and all the oyster options as it was our first time trying them. The combination of wonderful food and great service will definitely keep us coming back and suggesting it to everyone. Thank you for making our celebration more memorable!

My water they brought us had stuff floating around in it. The bread they brought us was so hard it cut our gums. The chowder they claim to say is clam chowder has no clam in it and tastes like bacon and ham. Will not come back ever again I d rather do to martingale wharf or river house!

Excellent restaraunt. We sat at the bar and the staff were very attentive. They have some incredible views if you can get a window seat or are lucky enough to sit outside. The food was great with fair pricing. I wouldnt expect anything less with this restaraunt group. Ive dined at all locations multiple times and they never diassapoint. Id give it five stars but we went during a very busy time and the host was a bit flustered.

Wife and I went out on a Wednesday early evening for an impromptu dinner date. We were seated right away with no wait. The food and service we're both fantastic. Plenty of resonibly priced food options that should satisfy anyone. Will definitely be a place to return to.

The food was very tasty. There are excellent seafood. There are also fresh oysters for starters. The restaurant is very nice and you have a great view of the entire harbor. There is also the possibility to sit outside. The service was very friendly.

Pricey but worth it, the chef is very creative. Can recommend the raw bar and korean bbq scallops. Appreciated the horseradish in the mashed potatoes, charred green beans and delicious sweet and spicey sauce. Beautiful view of the river.

Surf isn't a bad place. I mean i have read some of the reviews here and some aren't that fair to be honest. I had a good time. The food is expensive don't get me wrong, compared to some of the other places around Portsmouth this is a little pricey, but never the less i thought the food was great. I had a lazy man lobster. I do have a few allergies that i made clear to the waitress and she made sure that the correct alterations were made and i had a good meal. So if you like lobster and hate going through the shell cracking process, then this is the dish for you. It was like -19 outside so instead of having a cold beer i opted for a hot apple cider to wash it down with. So if you fancy the best seafood in town then head over to surf.

Surf has been our go to date night for years, any chance we get. Oysters and service are always amazing! We went recently and our favorite dish was no longer on the menu. Please bring back the Seafood Spaghetti!!!

We had been to the Surf previously but just at the bar for drinks and appetizers. This night we were going to the Sushi Bar but it's closed on Sundays in the winter so we ended up at Surf. The waitress was very good but even she was annoyed that our drinks and bread were a long time coming. It was not busy. The drinks, Manhattan and Margharita, were just OK. My wife's hot stone tuna was very good. The corn and haddock chowder was good but not hot. My baked Haddock was way over done and the accompanying mash potatoes were lukewarm and dry. The cheesecake dessert was good. In addition to this we were trying to figure out why "Family Guy" was on one of the TV's at the bar with no sound. No one knew. Overall the impression was that nobody was really paying attention. We won't be back soon

OMG. The Mussels were phenomenal. Lobster Kristina to die for...Jill was the best waitress I've experienced in a while. She was spot on with her recommendations. Rock Star. I'll be back. Most likely in the summer :)

Restaurant came highly recommend, couldn t wait to have lobster on my birthday. Very nice staff, great server, great atmosphere. The lobster however was the worse I ve ever had. Cold on the inside, strongly and tough so disappointing. If you go to eat there don t eat lobster.

A semi gourmet place to have sushi and it's very comparable to Domo & Ikko (Dover). It's a very fun atmosphere and they recently moved their sushi dining area to the main room next door. The staffs are always friendly and professional while the food is always great with good drink selection.

The sushi of course is on the expensive side. You're really paying for the great view and the atmosphere.

We visited on a Thursday night & asked for an outside table. They anticipated that the wait would be 90 minutes and would text us when it was ready. We were very surprised when we got a text about 40 minutes later. When we arrived, there was an issue with the table so we were asked to wait a few more minutes. Because of Covid, seating has to be limited & things got congested. The manager on duty (Brendan) could not have been nicer or more accommodating and was very apologetic for the additional wait.

We were shown to a wonderful outside table with a fantastic view. The outdoor area we sat in had only 3 tables so you could understand why there would be a wait. The small porch overlooked the river, bridges & Marina's. We were treated to a beautiful sunset.

Surf has a nice wine and beer menu as well as a cool specialty cocktail menu. I had a great glass of wine & my partner had a new to him IPA that he liked so much that we bought some on the way home.

I can't recommend Surf enough. The service was friendly & helpful, the view awesome & the food delicious.
