Excellent beach front property. More of a family oriented hotel.

This is a great place! We had our pooches with us so we had a pet friendly room. Our room was super clean and comfy. We really enjoyed the hot tub as well. We will definitely be back!

Beautiful setting and great rooms. We used to come here every year for our anniversary in December and loved it. Even when it is cold and rainy there is still stuff to do. Can get a bit expensive during peak season but so does nearly every other resort.

Clean, well maintained rooms. Large TV and fireplace. Customer service is phenomenal and you will truly feel welcome here. Great location with easy access to shops and restaurants.

Really enjoyed staying in the building that is right on the beach. Great views of Haystack Rock, walking distance to town, comfy room. We did go to the nightly bon-fire twice enjoying smores and the stars. We would stay here again.

Good hotel with good accommodations and amenities. The staff at check-in was great! Stayed in a beachfront king on the top floor. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The only thing that wasn't great was parking and the congestion from people trying to park to get close to the beach even if they weren't staying on property.

Spent our 31st Anniversary there and they gave us an upgrade to a wonderful top floor room with fantastic view of the Haystack Rock. Even had our own personal seagull mooch. You cracked the door to the balcony and count to 10. We named him Johnny.

Great place for our honeymoon. I recommend getting a room with a view of the ocean. Has a great view and is easily accessible to haystack rock and the town s attractions. Lots of hiking options nearby. And there are lots of little details that were very nice: chocolates every night, free fresh baked cookies, taffy, coffee, and for our honeymoon they left roses, a bath bomb, candle, and champagne. They also host bonfires on the beach in the evenings.

The scenery is beautiful. And the staff is so committed to customer service that when I called and hung up before anyone answered they dialed the number back to make sure everything was cool.

Beautiful resort, great amenities, & great staff that were extremely helpful! An unbelievable view and location, and even the room was amazing. The most comfortable mattress to sleep on and everything was extremely clean (trust me, we thoroughly inspect hotel rooms before we stay in them!) We loved our stay, and loved the places you could walk to nearby. We will definitely be back!

This place is located in an ideal location on quiet and beautiful Cannon Beach. The hotel rooms are solid and the staff is very friendly. Our favorite part was the nightly camp fires on the beach. We can't wait to come back!

Great location. The room is very nice. Everything was set up nicely for my son and my dog. I am very impressed. The resort is amazing and the staff was very helpful. Taylor was very helpful at the front desk.

We love this place, clean, newly renovated rooms, pleasant staff who are very helpful, breakfast is excellent with options for everyone and all dietary needs. Dog friendly beach right in front with many other dog friendly beaches and hiking trails near by. This is now our families spring break destination. The pool was a little old, I believe they are renovating it soon.

I love this hotel! This is my second visit. Both times I ve stayed on the beach side first floor where you can walk right out onto the beach from your room. Nothing beats watching sunset from your bed. Location is great. Hospitality is wonderful. Beds are soooo comfortable. I never want to leave.

Amazing!! My fiance wanted to surprise me with a special getaway they personalized everything from the flowers, wine, even put pictures that he sent them all over the room for us. We had a bonfire set up then an amazing swim and they even allowed a late check out. They had great recommendations for a great place to eat. We will DEFINITELY be back!!

Our room was slightly smaller than we anticipated but clean and modern. The bathroom felt roomy. There were 5 of us and small dog, so pretty tight quarters, lol. Nice location by the beach, great amenities, and friendly staff.

Super dog friendly, and kid friendly too! Great experience for the whole family. Added touches, like fresh cookies daily and other events depending on the day. Wonderful time rain or shine.

Get the beachfront room! A joy to to watch the ocean rain or shine. Haystack Rock is well within view of the property, and downtown is .6 mile walk. Fireplace in the room was nice and cozy, and loved the option for a bonfire and smores on the beach.

Extremely overpriced. Not worth the value. Room looks better in pictures than on a website. Stay away from this place

We stumbled on this gem while traveling from CT. The amazing staff showed us several rooms before we chose one with views of the Pacific Ocean and world famous Haystack Rock. We visited a little before peak season and had an amazing time. We used the complimentary bicycles and rode the beach for miles. Each night the staff built a fire on the beach and we sat with strangers enjoying the fire and building new friendships. Can't say enough "good" about this place.

The hotel room was impeccable and huge. The staff was so friendly. I was part of a very large group and they had no problem accommodating us. I highly recommend staying here.

This resort is wonderful! I love the view. Its so close to the beach and not too high up. We stayed on the top floor and we felt nearly level with the waves. It was perfect for us. We really enjoyed room service from the wayfairer as well!

For some people, I could see having issues with how small the rooms are and how tight the hallways are. When there is a cleaning staff cart in the walkway to the elevator, its difficult to walk by. It was especially difficult when we were leaving with our luggage. We had to take about double the trips because there was barely enough room to carry one bag through the walkway.

Other than those small points, we had a truly wonderful stay!

We stayed at the Surfsand on our honeymoon in Cannon Beach and we do not have enough positive things to say! The staff is kind and accommodating, and the location/views are worth the splurge for a special occasion. We had a couple of hiccups and the management team was swift to make things right. Highly recommend!

Room was excellent. The View was magical and the beds were extremely comfortable.

This was our second trip to Cannon Beach for our anniversary. I literally cannot explain how beautiful this place is! We were lucky enough to get the same exact room as we did a couple years ago. I love the view from our room and everything was perfect. Will definitely be back to celebrate another anniversary!

If you're looking for a family friendly get away with that summer camp feel with a luxury resort twist, then look no further than the Surfsand Resort!

Pros:
- awesome, friendly, professional staff.
- awesome hotel restaurant (though a little pricey).
- a skip and a hop from the beach (with seating, toys, and nightly fires provided by the resort).
- best views of Haystack Rock.
- indoor pool for those windy/cold beach days! Lifesaver!

Now the Cons:
- we stayed in a Haystack view room. Was pretty tight for a family of four once you pop out the sleeper sofa.
- no A/C.
- rooms and bathrooms are showing their age.
- we had issues with the hot water during showers in our room. When it was reported to the front desk, no action was taken. No mention of a discount for trouble, nothing.

We look forward at possibly coming back another time and giving the Surfsand Resort a try at 5 stars!

Our room was fantastic, large and comfortable, the only negative point was that the view of the haystack from our balcony was hindered by some roif vents on a nearby building.
But that was easily solved by walking down to the beach the hotel sits on, and enjoying a nice stroll on the sand.
Loved the chocolate chip cookies handed out when we checked in, that's always a plus in our book.
Also love having robes in our room...

Full experience resort - beautifully appointed rooms with every detail considered for enjoying Cannon Beach. The beach fire and s'mores were especially lovely. They just need to get rid of the single use plastic water bottles and beauty products.

We stayed here recently for our honeymoon and had an amazing time! We had a beautiful room with an ocean view. The staff was always pleasant and so accommodating! They have board games and movies you can check out for no charge and bikes you can use to go into town or down to the beach. I would definitely recommend Surfsand Resort to couples and families! A big THANK YOU to the staff!

Resort staff was friendly. Rooms were clean and do get one with a view of the beach as it's worth it. Very close to nearby cafes and restaurants.

I always enjoy my time at Surfsand. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and well and thoughtfully stocked. Staff is friendly and kind. They go out of their way to make sure that your time with them is perfect.

One of the nicest hotels I've stayed at...the guy at the front desk was very welcoming..the bed and sheets are amazing..the meals for room service were quick and good and the view is absolutely to die for! Can't wait to stay again!!!

We arrived at Surfsand and was greeted by a friendly staff at the counter. Flying across the country and then driving to the coast, our little girl needed to stretch out her legs after 7 hours of travel. The hotel lobby had some toys for her to play with while we checked in! The room provided to us was fantastic, but PALED in comparison to the quality of the service at Surfsand, which was outstanding! The staff was kind, helpful and accommodating. 10/10 - would come again, and recommend to others.

One of our favorite family destinations. The staff is very friendly and accommodating- They seem to think of everything, and make you feel welcome and appreciated. The pool is really nice because it has a large shallow shelf that allows younger kids to play without any trouble, and they have a lot of toys to amuse the kids. A short distance to the beach, and town.

My wife and I love staying here. They are very dog friendly. The added bonus is the easy beach access and it's so close to Haystack rock.

DO WE HAVE TO LEAVE? SIX STARS!
My wife and I are on the road each year for 3 months for work and had a gap in the schedule so she set us up here at the Surfsand. We're still here and don't want to leave!

It's been great. 3rd floor room with a grand view of the beach and Haystack Rock. Walks on the beach. Great restaurants in town. Super staff and a super room with amenities that we often don't find in our travels (We are in hotel rooms about 300 nights a year and even top-shelf places don't have some of the things as the Surfsand!)

Last night the even built a bonfire on the beach for my wife and I and brought out chocolate, graham crackers and marshmallows to make s'mores. They will bring movies and popcorn to your room. Tonite, there's a beer tasting and later today, my wife has us scheduled for massages.

A big bonus...they LOVE animals! There's not many places that do. Some accept dogs, but not cats and we travel with a cat we rescued out've the trash. She's a great traveler and has been on 40 flights and all the hotel rooms we stay in. They had her name on a welcome board and in the room, they had a water bowl and food bowl, treats and a little sleeping pad for her all ready!

What a great touch! Thanks for making this a special get-away, Surfsand. Hate to leave!

The views!!! Stayed for a wedding and everything was considered! They did an amazing job with the venue and the details. The bride and everyone was so impressed. Beautiful and well worth the money

Have been going here since I ve been a child. Great service. They have awesome amenities and are right near Haystack Rock. I love the chocolate chip cookies everyday in the lobby! The rooms themselves are nice, clean and spacious. Most have a balcony you can stand on. Parking can get full but they have overflow. You can walk to all the stores from there if you want, or drive. Highly recommend!

It's our first time visiting and we had a wonderful room facing the beach so no complaints there! The room was nicely decorated and in very clean condition and there was a turn down service nightly. Overall, very nice ... we'd visit again if we were in the area.

The service is amazing... Every request that was made was fulfilled quickly... One of our lights suffered a malfunction and the front desk sent someone over within 10 minutes to fix it. We asked to have as huge hole filled in at the beach that was deep enough to actually be hazardous and someone was out there with a shovel for over 30 minutes filling it in to give you an idea how big the hole was! The campfire s'mores is such a neat touch and the pool is awesome!

Loved that you can view the ocean from the bathtub!

I love this place. Nice rooms (could definitely use an update though). The customer service is good and the best part is you've got easy access to the beach.

We booked last minute as a Pandemic Panic getaway. When we arrived we found we'd been upgraded to an Ocean view room with a beautiful view of Haystack Rock. The room was lovely, the evening cookies and milk were a hit with the kids, the beach access and complimentary sand toys were perfect.

As oceanfront as it gets.
I think the word "resort" might conjure up grander expectations of the campus; there's no gatehouse or massive fountain or large expanses of lawn or golf course. But it does have multiple buildings from the roadfront to oceanfront, and offers amenities that are resort-analogous particularly if you think beach.

The desk staff are friendly and we got there on movie night (a collection of free DVD rentals spiced with fresh popcorn at the desk). It's a short downhill drive to the oceanfront rooms and the rest are splayed out to the northeast a bit. Our third floor room had a panoramic view of the ocean, with the sand starting perhaps 20 feet from the comfortable balcony. It was cold as the dickens the night we stayed so we didn't use it much, but in warm weather for sunsets I'm sure it's amazing. If you had a crossbow you could probably hit Haystack Rock from your balcony...it's RIGHT there. Pretty much any room in that oceanfront building is gonna give you that view. Ask for one of those.

The room itself is comfortable, good bed, great gas fireplace. The bath products are Aveda which is pretty chic. Room service and there's a full restaurant just steps away and even closer to Haystack Rock.

I would say it's not a VALUE stay but you get what you pay for so you won't feel disappointed for kicking in the extra dollars if you got em.

The terrain is a bit steep to walk between buildings and there's a large flight of stairs to get from the east side, around the pool and to the oceanfront building. Not super ADA-friendly for walking, but there's elevators for the buildings and easy front desk entry, and if you drive the campus you'll be fine as far as access.

Great for couples and families alike. The southern end of Cannon isn't quite as packed with shops and restaurants as the north end, but there are plenty of places to choose from and visit nonetheless. A little less bustling and spread out. Easy access from the highway too.

The staff was amazing, helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean and well appointed. The homemade chocolate chip cookies each evening were a treat! I can't say enough how helpful the front desk is. Also the movie rentals, free popcorn, couldn't be beat.

Great location with beautiful rooms and a "to die for" view. The restaurant's (Wayfare) food was excellent with superior and friendly service from Robert.

This resort was extremely kid friendly and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay as relaxing as possible with three young children. The staff provided age appropriate books, beach toys, and cookies at checkin. They also ran up games, movies, dishes, and complementary treats to our room with impressive speed and always provided thoughtful recommendations based on our requests. This resort gets a strong recommendation for those with young kids who are comfortable sharing close quarters.

Great spot on the beach, we went on a Sunday Monday so rates were very affordable I think $135. The view from our room on the 3rd floor. The pool was a bit chilly nice nice sunken Jacuzzi but the Jets weren't working. Free pop corn and movies requested from the lobby.

I'm going to start with the positives as I don't typically take the time to leave reviews and I feel slightly guilty leaving an unfavorable one. The staff is friendly, the rooms clean and modern and the location is great. That being said for $500 a night I was expecting a room larger than my closet at home. I also would have thought that air conditioning would be something standard at any modern hotel. Its kind of hard to sleep when your room is 75 degrees even with the patio door being open all night. I can't figure out how to keep the sheet on the bed either. The second you lay down the sheet pops right off. I was contemplating leaving the front door open to try and move some air through my room but then when I went for my midnight walk to cool down I noticed a fairly large rodent of some sort hanging out in the stairwell adjacent to my room. So I figured I should probably get used to being to warm as opposed to sharing my room with a large furry critter.

Really great resort to stay at, especially in Cannon Beach. Everything is in walking distance, and even the Cannon Beach Rock was in view just from our room. The bedroom itself was very clean, yet had a odd smell. Beautiful room and great distance to the beach. The parking although is kinda a pain, for the amount of people staying it seemed there wasn't enough parking for everyone.

Our stay at the Surfsand was nothing short of magical. I had not been to the Oregon coast for years, but choosing the Surfsand as our base of operations turned out to be the greatest decision I could have made in regards to our trip.

The location is central to just about everything in and around Cannon Beach, not the least of which is the magnificent landmark that the town is known for, and the wide expanse of beach that surrounds it.

We were steps to the beach, steps to several great dining options, and a very short drive to more stores, more restaurants, hiking, and adventures beyond.

The staff was passionate and eager to help at every interaction, and one of the highlights for us was doing the bonfire + s'mores on the beach. All the attendants were so friendly and excellent fire-builders.

The fitness center and pool both surpassed our expectations, there were cookies and milk at the lobby every afternoon like clockwork, and there were even beach cruisers available for guests that we didn't have time to make use of.

Being so close to the beach and Haystack Rock, it's impossible not to fall into the rhythm of the day - sunrise to sunset - and I think that rhythm was my favorite part of the whole trip.

Thank you to the staff at Surfsand for making it easy for us to immerse ourselves in everything that makes Cannon Beach so special.

I've not yet left but so far my stay has been DREAMY! (Thanks to the lovely, generous people that gifted it to me )

Clean room, fantastic view of haystack rock, super comfortable clean bed, plenty of towels, surprisingly excellent keurig pod coffee by sleepy monk. (Sleepy monk has excellent coffee, I've just never been a fan of the pod style coffee flavor.) Luscious soaking tub, balcony.

We paid for a King Ocean Front Suite. It was a little over $600.00 for 1 night. Not something we would normally do but it was a special birthday/fathers day weekend. The room was WAY OVERPRICED. It was very small. The website said the room looked out at Haystack Rock. It did if you went out on the deck and looked way left. The service was good and the staff friendly. The room was clean and the bathroom was very nice however the furniture was uncomfortable. The king size bed was comfortable. If it was $300.00 a night you might expect what we got. All in all we were very disappointed. We will not go back.

As always a great place to be. Service is 5* and they do so much for children!

It was an amazing trip due to the great hospitality of the hotel. We had our dog with us and she loved the treats and beach right outside the door. The room was very clean and comfortable. Pool and hot tub was clean and the perfect temperature. One of my favorite hotels.

We needed a non-pet room which they were able to accommodate us with. It is very clean (and we are picky!) and comfortable. There are so many amenities for children and pets! We loved the beach fire and s mores. The location... it doesn t get any better than this. The staff is helpful and friendly.

Loved this place! Book a suite that's facing the ocean and you'll asleep to sound of waves gently crashing on the shore. The staff is super friendly and will truly accommodate your needs. Delicious restaurants and shopping nearby. Free shuttle to town. Water bottles, chocolates and more in each room. Free fresh baked cookies and milk or hot tea everyday. Such a good place!

This place is amazing! The rooms are cozy and the employees are kind. I'm not one to review things, but my family used to go here every year. I never took any pictures, but the place is beautiful. Because of where it's located, you can go to a lot of places with a short walk. The town near the hotel is very pretty. I strongly recommend going here!
Aside from my unprofessional account, this place is actually wonderful.

Wonderful experience every time. Special touches, gorgeous rooms and views, anything you could ever want. Pool, hot tub, gym access. And best of all spa bath and fireplace in the room.

Surfsand Resort was highly recommended by a lot of friends so I decided to surprise my fiance for his first ever Resort stay. I must say, it s the best place we ever stayed at. From the minute we walked in, they made us feel so comfortable with smiles. We stayed in a room facing haystack rock and oh my everything about it was perfect. They left chocolates by our door. The shampoo and body wash scents were amazing! The giant soaking tub and walk in shower are so rewarding. The lounge area was so perfect. They also have a sauna, work out room, jacuzzi and pool. Believe us we used all of the amenities! The restraunt across the lot was amazing as well. Thank you for a great stay. We will be back for sure!

My family and I had a blast at the Surfsand Resort! All of the employees were friendly and the location was top notch.

Having two little kids, we especially loved the bonfire they set up for us on the beach along with the s'more kit (provided for just a little bit of money). My kids also enjoyed the weenie roast, as well as all the fun pool toys that were available. It's really the little touches like this that make a vacation!

The room itself was quite nice, and we had a great view of Haystack Rock (despite not paying extra for a beachfront room). The balcony was awesome, and the bathroom was spacious.

The only downsides: The bed was much too firm for my husband and I, but maybe some people prefer an extra firm mattress. The pull out bed was also a lot smaller than I expected (too small for my two little kids to even share). But our overall experience was so great that these details were pretty minor.

We would definitely stay here again in the future, and I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a family-friendly place to stay.

FABULOUS service .... wonderful accommodations... clean and quiet

Nice location but WAY overpriced compared to other similar hotels in the area.

The people in Canon beach are really nice and so is the staff here at the hotel.. Tempurpedic mattress was a nice touch. Got a great night's sleep except for the barking dogs. Hey, it's what dogs do, right? But not while I'm trying to sleep. They don't have a breakfast or a restaurant and the Wayfarer restaurant next door, was a let down. I think the Wayfarer is actually hurting the Surfsand and that's too bad, since this hotel is actually quite nice. Just have a plan for your food needs. I would suggest dining at the Stephanie Inn. Top notch restaurant and about the same price as the Wayfarer.

Omg beautiful views and amenities. Aveda toiletries!!! Fresh cookies! Plus they let me bring my cat and dog! I've stayed here twice and I can't recommend this place enough. Stay here for an affordable yet luxurious beach vacation!!!

Room had a view of the beach and ocean, 2nd floor, great view! Room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Bathroom could use some upgrades. Parking lot was full so had to park a distance away from room and walk the bags in. Staff was super friendly. Elevator was broken but the nice staff made up for the shortcomings.

Great place. I'd recommend it for families going to Cannon Beach. A little spendy, but then again so is any place with that prime or a location right by haystack rock. Pool is nice, ocean front decks are stellar. Felt a little run down, but not shabby, just well used by continuous guests.

First off, the staff is wonderful! My dad was searching for a nearby liquor store and he asked the front desk. A man with a mustache started calling every liquor store in the area without hesitation! Also, for the bonfire a man named Kevin helped us out. He was very helpful and did a wonderful job. He was also very kind. The pool is also very clean! It s crystal clear! The rooms are a little smaller, smaller than you d expect, but they re very functional! The staff is all very nice and they care about making your stay wonderful! We had an add on for the trip and it was totally fine. They added her on immediately with no problems. This resort is located in an amazing place, it s right on the beach. The shuttle is also a great service. We only had to wait five minutes max. Our driver Elizabeth was amazing and very kind. I am currently loving my stay. Thank you Surf Sand Resort :))

Love this place! What a nice place to relax after our long drive! Reception desk staff was so kind, gracious and very welcoming. Our suite was spacious and beautiful! I had a massage while staying here, and it was heaven - Molly was so attentive and had magic hands!

We'll definitely stay at this resort again, as we have for many years!

Had a great time here!! The resort had everything a family with dogs would need. Great food, beach access, walkability to downtown, plenty of parking, pool, food, and nice little touches. They had very nice pack and plays for our toddler (didnt use because we brought our own but didnt need); beds for our pup with a mini treat package, food and water bowls, and towels for her; pool and beach toys (buckets, shovels, mini wagons); and even movies and popcorn. This resort did a nice job of adding bells and whistles to the stay. Remember if you bring your dog that restaurants are plentiful, but also limited. About half are dog friendly but also have limited seating outdoors. Will definitely visit and stay here again.

Nice place to stay. Polite and friendly staff. We had several issues by the arrival. 1. The heater in the room and bathroom did not work. 2. There stain on the sheet. 3. There was a huge clap of hair under the sofa bed. 4. The predefined buttons on the phone do not work, so it was impossible to reach the front dest or room service or at least somebody to help us. My husband went downstairs. During next 5 minutes somebody knocked at the door. There were both room service representatives to change the bed, clean the hair and fix the heater (the problem was in thermostat). So fast! Almost immediately! It is really great! What I really like about this place:
1. Easy access to the beach. One of them is great for strollers.
2. Plenty of parking.
3. Small kitchen with microwave, coffee machine, dishes, cups, glasses and complementary tea, coffee, sugar, etc.
4. Gas fireplace.
5. Balcony with lounge furniture.
6. Big bathroom with TV ))
7. Pool. If the weather is bad it's a great alternative to soaking in the rain.
I wish, you guys, have better coffee in the lobby area. If it's hard to implement maybe better just take away that one you have now ...
I will consider this hotel for my next stay in Cannon beach.
