Everything from the opening of the car door when we arrived to the old fashioned beauty and luxuriousness of my room is why this place is utterly amazing. Everybody smiles and the service at the restaurant is fantastic. I have traveled all over the world, and every hotel I have ever stayed pales in comparison to the Sunset. Make sure you check out the mini documentary on the history of this place...also black and white pics of Sinatra to Truman Capote to Howard Hughes grace the walls of this place and you really feel the history from the moment you get there. I could literally write a novel about this place but I think you get the gist.

Beautiful building. Wonderful staff and service. Room service amazing. But make sure that you have the cash if you're going to be staying here and getting room service kind of expensive but totally worth it. Looking forward to going back

I work out with a Private Trainer @ Manison Fitness. It's a great space to work out but the equipment in the outdoor space is not being maintained and will probably need to be replaced in about 2 years.

Atmosphere, music and an incredible view. Even with a pianist playing live! The bad and very expensive food. I recommend having a snack.

Dated rooms that are cramped by modern standards. A queen room means a king bed wouldn't fit in the room! Now size isn't everything but, you have to spend money on the details and soft furnishings to bring older world charm into the twenty teens.... that said, you may just hang in the bar and restaurant till you drop as it's currently one of THE places to be in LA LA at the moment

Fantastic hotel and location for the "LUX Night Club"
...as a "lover" of "traveling locations", this is a must visit in LA, and I would definitely recommend the management to take the opportunity!
Even if, like all productions, the locations are "fragmented" in various buildings, or recreated in the studio ...the idea of reproducing a "Lucifer" themed suite with the same elegance as that of the series; and even a mini-bar like the LUX ...it would be brilliant! ...maybe even offering packages!

Stopped here for lunch one day with a friend. We both had a starter and main course salad and they were superb. Great vibes, really relaxing terrace looking at the pool and out to the city. Expensive but worth the money.

Cool old hollywood hotel but a little to pompous for me. If your not dressed head to toe in designer clothing or driving fancy car don't expect to get any kind of service from almost all employees. Instead you will be treated as if you were less then.

My daughter and I went to this classic locale for a drink. We were not disappointed. The service was accommodating and made us feel like we were the only people at the bar. Beautiful views and it luxurious surroundings. Definitely would recommend for a drink or for a meal. Very atmospheric, old Hollywood at its finest.

Wonderful classic Art Deco Hotel ! The place has kept it Hollywood glam. It s elegant so are most of the guest. I love having dinner in the old dinning room next to the mahogany bar with a view on LA. The Vegan curry is a must ! Only dark spots are that the pool is super small and we could not even access it while there. The breakfast is not good and bland ...

Friendly desk staff.

Very cool hotel but could use more attention paid to room cleaning, I had a pillow that had a pink stain on it and there was a brown makeup stain on the bathroom wall when I arrived.

A classic Hollywood hotel. Incredible bar and restaurant, makes you feel like you ve ridden a time machine back to the 20 s. Always full of celebrities and power players, though you ll never see them, in any case place is too dark and sexy to care.

Guest rooms could use a lot of work, and the lounge chairs at the pool leave quite a bit to be desired.

The staff at the Sunset tower is amazing, very caring and polite. I really liked the food and the breakfast. However I was really disappointed by the amount of water plastic bottles that the hotel provide in the rooms, it is completely unnecessary, they should really do an effort to avoid this kind of single use plastic waste like many other luxury hotel are doing. People are every time more aware of this kind of things now. Also the quality of the body lotion were very poor it dehydrated my skin, you'd expect a very good brand like Kiells.... I really loved the soap bar though!

This hotel is a great choice for lunch or dinner, but that s it. I would not recommend staying at this hotel at all. We recently stayed in a superior room on level 6 which was small, had a queen bed and overlooked the entry drive way on Sunset Boulevard. After checking out of this hotel, I actually believe I was given a standard room, despite booking a superior room.
Being an old hotel, the windows were single glazed which means can clearly hear every car that passes the hotel. Being on the Sunset strip, burn outs, mini drag races and over-revving of engines does happen all through the night. The bathrooms and toiletries were lovely. But the fatal flaw with this hotel for me, was the mattress. It was marshmallow soft and sagged in the middle. It was not fit for a trailer park let alone a top hotel. It was honestly the worst mattress I have slept on in any hotel (or AirB&B) ever! I was so uncomfortable that after tossing and turning half way through the night with lower back pain, I gave up and slept on the floor. If you decide to stay at this hotel, you need to factor in the cost of seeing an osteopath straight after your stay. Which can become a costly exercise if you are paying upwards of AUD$700 a night for a standard room during peak periods.
I think you can get to experience the hotel
if you eat at the Tower Bar and Restaurant. This was a great venue, but I would recommend you book early and ask for an inside table. We arrived at 8pm and despite booking several weeks in advance, almost all of the inside tables were gone other than the table next to the reception desk. We decided to eat outdoors, but this was virtually empty and didn t have much atmosphere. Despite being virtually empty, we were not able to sit at a table with a view as it may be outside the boundaries and reserved for someone else. The table service was average at best. We had the Lobster Tacos and Tuna Tartare for starters, both were delicious. My partner ordered the Tower Burger, but it was missing sliced tomato and lettuce which made it overly stodgy. I ordered the Filet Mignon which was the most expensive main on the menu at $63. I suspect it had been sitting on the pass for some time because the potatoes had gone hard and the steak was cold when it arrived. For the remainder of the meal we had to endure a photoshoot of a group of people eating their meal which is totally ironic given that the Tower Bar menu clearly states in bold that there are to be no photographs taken in the restaurant. We decided to forgo desert because of the poor service and atmosphere.
The last time we were in LA, we stayed at the Viceroy hotel. While the location is not as good, the hotel was far superior in terms of service and amenities. Our room was three times the size and the bed was the next level - super king, supremely comfortable and with high quality linen. Even the Andaz directly opposite is a better option in my view.
So overall, really average stay. I didn t provide this feedback to the Sunset Tower reception staff because they didn t care to ask about my stay. That pretty much sums up my experience with this hotel.

I love a 5 star hotel , this is not one. A place to party on the strip yes , snooty staff why I still don't get it . I have been treated better in Paris at a high ticket location in the 7th so go figure .The location for a bar scene get together is fine ..no strip view from from any area unless you are in a small over worn room for a big price.

Stayed three nights in a deluxe King room. The room was super tiny and really dated. The view was also pretty awful, faced right at the street and the Andaz hotel, where I stayed for three nights prior to my stay at Sunset Tower and absolutely loved it. Was immediately disappointed that I left the Andaz when I got here. Service is decent but I called for an ice bucket and it never arrived. Gym is tiny and claustrophobic and the hotel sort of smells. They are really trying to sell the old school Hollywood charm so that may be nice for those looking for it at the expense of nice amenities and a large sunny room, but as a business traveler, this hotel really does not suit my needs whatsoever.

Very difficult to park or pick up somebody not qualified personel to control access and like usual the valet parking making biz with favoritism for commissions instead of using space for clients will never recommend this hotel
