My gf took me to this place. It was great but it can get very crowded. She lived in the area for 7 yrs and went here often. We didn't rent equipment because we have our own and lift tickets are typical for the season. Although I got military discount when I went, best time to go after fresh snow fall which is common in this area during winter.

Overall this is a great mountain. It was my first time and it has a ton to offer - from great groomer tracks to terrain parks to the glades, every experience exceeded expectations. The South Ridge Lodge could have been laid out much more efficiently, but the Foggy Goggle bar upstairs had a large bar and great live music. Food was definitely good but not great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a solid new mountain that offers a wide range of tracks.

I had a blast at Sunday River last weekend at their semi-annual brewfest. The drive was pretty short from Portland to get up there. The resort (Grand Summit Hotel) was very nice accommodations. I had plenty of things to do even though I don't ski or snowboard.

We went here for scenic ride. It was managed pretty well except the fact it was way too crowded because they had less gondola than chairs. Leading to 3 times people going up but only one times going down

Sunday River is a great resort. As soon as you make the turn into Bethel, you feel welcome. On ski mountain rd you can find everything hotels to apres spots. The bartenders are always on the money at the Goggle.

One of the best ski areas in the East! They are particularly good at making snow and grooming, so the snow conditions are reasonably good even if the weather is uncooperative, as it often is in the northeast.

It can get busy during holiday periods, but the lines are typically lower outside the center of the resort. One negative is that the mountain is very spread out, so if your group separates, you likely will not see each other. Crossing between the peaks requires traversing.

Love Sunday River Resort. The hospitality provided makes one feel right at home. The mountain had a plethora of of locals that are fun to talk too. The food options range from cafeteria style service to full service bar and restaurants. Both offer affordable, fresh food and friendly service. Very family friendly environment. Can't wait to go back next season.

Fun

If you love Sunday Rover and love short ski lines then you will appreciate that it s important not to let too many people in on how great this place is. Let s just pretend this is a two star resort and not let anyone think otherwise. Okay?

I am still mourning the old days of Sunday River when it was still locally owned. It s since turned into a yuppie resort with way too much going on. It s over crowded and lacks that down to earth, relaxing Maine feel I remember from the 80s and 90s. The heart is gone. Ticket prices are absurd. The only good thing about SR are the trails...which are just as I remember (just with more people). I will forever love Obsession and the entire Oz section...for that reason I will splurge once a year just to revisit some of my favorite trails from the past.

Overall, nice challenging trails...the rest of it is just a pit of entitled rich people. Groaaaaannnn Go to Mt. Abram instead!!!

This is a great resort. They are all very accommodating and kind. It's always clean and the food is pretty good. The only thing is that the entire hotel uses latex gloves fort cooking and cleaning, and I'm severely allergic to latex. They made my dinner separate so I didn't need to worry but it is still frustrating. Overall amazing experience and I love it here.

I have been skiing at Sunday River for a little over 5 years now. It is one of the best resorts in New England. So many trails, plenty of easy beginner trails, plenty of difficult glades, and everything in between. It doesn't get as busy as the mountains in Vermont with all of the New York visitors either since it is fairly remote. Only an hour and a half from Portland though.

Great fun for all of us. Even though I broke a rib in a spectacular fall on the dream maker. Now know to me as the Widow Maker. The staff are great and helpful. There was 42 of us in our group and everyone was well looked after. We had every type of weather in the 5 days we where there. From really warm to -9 and 10 inches of snow one day. Would love to return soon. And hopefully get better without falling so dramatically.

Least pretentious and friendliest of the large New England ski resorts. The snowmakers and groomers do an amazing job of keeping the snow conditions phenomenal throughout the season. Plenty of terrain for all skill levels. The staff at the Foggy Goggle are the best!

While the mountain is a versatile ski slope with plenty to do for multiple levels of skiers, the customer service is some of the worst we have ever experienced particularly with the season pass and ticket offices. We have been gold pass holders for several years now and their service is consistently poor year after year. They are unwelcoming, rude and always seem to have the attitude that you are bothering them. They rarely answer the phones which necessitates an in-person visit for simple questions. I would give them 1 star if it were not for the fact that I enjoy skiing at the mountain.

Sunday River event area was well organized. They are building new townhouses/apartments for rent which is almost complete. They had a mobile bar and catering available. The event was host for the New England Forest Rally.

Attended the first day of the River Rock Christian music festival today. Wow! This is our 3rd year in a row and it just keeps getting better and better! Thank you to all who put in so many hours behind the scenes and work so hard to bring amazing and talented Christian artists to perform.

Sunday River is by far one of my favorite mountains, but not this year!
My first visit this year was on new years day I drove 6 hours through a snow and ice storm. I arrived at 7:45 15 minutes before first chair. The parking lot at south ridge was not plowed at all making it difficult and dangerous to navigate. I took 2 runs and the entire mountain was put on wind hold when the wind wasn't even that strong.
My next visit was about 2 weeks later. I had planned on sleeping in the parking lot in the back seat of my truck. I was nice warm and comfy in my -30 sleeping bag. I was asleep for about 4 hours when one of Sunday Rivers employees rudely woke me up by flashing his trucks lights into my windows and hitting his horn. He then drove to the front of my truck leaned halfway out of the tuck he was driving (still in gear with his foot bearly on the brake) and began hitting the hood of my truck, leaving a dent in my hood. I asked him what his issue was he started screaming profanities telling me I can't f***ing sleep in the parking lot, and accusing me of being unprepared stating I was going to get carbon monoxide poisoning (my truck was not running and I was using a electric heater off of my inverter, I had well insulated the inside of my truck and had a -30 sleeping bag and lots of blankets), also stating I was going to catch hypothermia and frost bite. I had decided to leave to avoid more confrontation, because everyone knows when your rudely awakend your not in a good mood.
Further more they reported 100% open, the glades atop white cap were closed along with a couple of other glades.
Hopefully my next trip this season will be better, if not I'm going to have to find a new favorite mountain!

great during summer amazing activities and incredibly fun highly recommended to anyone in the area. incredible staff everyone there is extremely nice and friendly. the zip line is a bit of a hike to reach but in the end worth it. great for families and the sliders at the bottom of the gondola are amazing and tasty.

Sunday River has a huge variety of terrain and is located just outside Bethel. I ski on a college ski racing team and we spend about 40 days a year at SR and it is a great mountain for us. The mountain does a good job distributing crowds among the eight peaks and has distinct areas where populations of different skier types congregate. The college season pass is an incredible deal at $350, with no blackout days or restrictions. Day passes are very expensive, but SR is one of the best mountains in the east, so you get what you pay for. Check out the Matterhorn or the Sunday River Brewery on the access road for Apres Ski entertainment.
