Living in Portland, this is the closest good mountain to home for me and is definitely my favorite for trail variety and solid snow conditions. It's sweet that even when it's busy, there are always different peaks you can scoot over to for avoiding the crowds. Love my home mountain

A big resort with decent amenities and lots of family oriented activities. Some of them are the twin zip lines, wall climbing, biking, chair lifts and gondola rides to the top. Also, L.L. Bean offers fun classes like archery, kayaking etc. But, they run them only on Mondays through Thursdays. My trip was this summer. Can't wait to see how it would be like in winter!

This place is old. Im talking 1970s type old. There is no shopping, no restaurants near by. The Summit Grand Hotel didnt even have christmas light decorations outside. Don't expect high class service. You also better bring your own food as the restaurants in the resorts close early. Our Penthouse rooms were clean and the people were nice. Everything worked. If you just want to come for the skying that's it. This place is not Aspen. First time. Last time.

Great slopes without having to fight crowds. It's a wide variety of slopes and great for the whole family. Go to the left if you want more challenging terrain and go to the right if you want an easier experience.

Mixed bag as a ski mountain. The layout and facilities are generally decent, but nothing special. The staff is excellent. However the signage throughout the skiing area is very poor at best. It is very difficult for someone new to the mountain to identify where they are at, what trails are at intersections, and which lift they are in front of. Posted mountain maps are very small and difficult to read without standing right up at them.

With a few easy improvements to signage the ski experience could be much improved.

That said, the trails themselves are nicely varied and provide for an enjoyable time for those at all levels of experience.

I stayed at Sunday River Resort. The skiing was very good and the mountain was nice. Would recommend if you're looking for a good resort to ski at with a good range of easy to difficult trails this is the place.

I went skiing and everything seemed very nice. And the snow was not that bad either. Food was edible and not ridiculously expensive, but you have to remember that it is still food from a ski spring to it that is not the best

Both Sunday River and Sugarloaf are owned by Bonye Resorts. They both offer a $49 lift ticket to Maine residents on Wednesdays. Apparently at Sunday River you have to buy those tickets 24 hours in advance online. Sugarloaf has no such requirements. I wish I had known that before I drove an hour past my favorite mountain (Sugarloaf) just to pay $40 more than advertised because I didn't buy the ticket online. I have emailed both Sunday River and Boyne Resorts about my experience and have yet to even get a "Thanks for your comments" reply. I will NEVER go back to Sunday River again, shame on you, I feel robbed. If I could give less than 1 star I would.

Had a terrible experience with guest services after accidentally purchasing 1 2-day ticket rather than 2 1-day tickets. They refused to convert ticket so that I could ski with my brother. Skiing wasn't amazing, don't see why I should come back when there are plenty of good resorts in the area with better customer support.
