Beautiful venue. Right next to the metro and easy to reach. Close walk to red square and shopping districtwith high end fashion and bars. People in the venue ate really helpful if you do not speak Russian. Intermission food and drinks are cash only.

We watched the ballet La Sylphide. Amazing. Given the history of production, scenery and the skill of performers - emotions are unforgettable!
In the buffet there are not enough seats at the tables. Quickly ended the cake. Do not clean the tables of dirty dishes.

Coming here on New Year's Eve, the Grand Theatre, including the surrounding neighborhoods, is very beautiful. Moscow's New Year's Eve is concentrated in a large area nearby, which is very interesting.

Wonderful experience, we were lucky, we obtained 2 central front tickets 1.5 hours before the show, at the box office, for a great price ($120/R8000 each). A must-do, if you have the opportunity. It doesn't even matter much what you go see :)
Bolshoi theatre is the most famous Russian theatre. Not the best of course, but the most prominent.
Flamboyant interior decorations in red and gold colours, grandiose chandelier at the historical scene, some rooms looking like a museum expositions: everything is screaming "Luxury!"
The tickets are usually around 7000 rubs up to 15000 (Historical stage), but I got one for a special price of 2000 rubs. It was at the highest - 4th level - but in a 1st raw and in the center, so the stage was visible perfectly. My level was in the 7th floor (there's an elevator) so I took a strong binocular, the usual "theatre" one won't help you much at this distance.
Very convenient system of having it's own dressing room and buffet for each 2 levels avoids the crowd between and after the shows.
The minus: Bolshoi theatre does NOT accept credit cards inside!! You have to pay cash for drinks/food and printed programs! This is very inconvenient! Especially considering the fact that a glass of champagne costs around a price of full bottle - 500 rubs.
When buying a ticket online you have to insert you passport data and one person can't buy more than 2 tickets. Then you have to personally come and retrieve the ticket from ticket office, that located not in a Bolshoi theatre itself, but across the road, at RAMT. You have to show a passport and A CREDIT CARD that you used while buying the ticket! That is silly considering the fact that they do not accept credit cards in the theatre...
Also the cashier lady and guards were speaking rather rude and spoiled the first impression from the most famous Russian theatre.
I watched the opera Queen of Spades and it was average, lead singers were nondescript, decorations were simple as well as costumes.
I was more impressed by the theatre itself then by the performance.
I think you should visit this place to feel the atmosphere and see the magnificence of the building in the 1st place, and only then for the spectacular itself.

Of the minuses: prices! 5000 (production for CHILDREN) for the fifth tier of the balcony right next to the stage (I had to peer out to see part of the stage) - this is tough. Parterre 10000, 15000. I really wanted to in Bolshoi. For the sake of the theater itself. Thanks to the children's production, this was possible. Adult rates are many times higher.

The Bolshoi Theater is really a place that must be visited even by people who are not interested in theater. You can visit absolutely any performance. The historical scene will allow you to feel yourself in the past, to feel the atmosphere. Recommend.

For the first time in many years, I visited the Bolshoi Theater. In addition to the opera we attended, the Imperial Hall struck by its beauty. Interestingly, in one of the rooms of the hall, the acoustics are arranged so that even quiet voices in the center can be heard. As they explained to us, this was done so that Nicholas II could hear the gossip of his courtiers.
A lot of pathos from nothing. The interior is modest, in the hall chairs instead of armchairs, in the corridors the floor is crooked and shabby. In the Stanislavsky Theater, it's more pleasant. High appreciation only for the work of artists and musicians

Quite Impressive from outside, but the real story starts inside. The theater itself is a state of art.
Majestic facade with fountains and gardens at front. The auditorium is magnificent, stretches up six levels. You can feel the Soviet style inside and outside. All gold leaf and detailed moulding.
Have to purchase tickets in advance through official website. You re not allowed to take a picture or videos during the performance.
In general, of course, I was impressed: beautifully, on a large scale, richly ... But in terms of review it is incredibly inconvenient! It makes sense to take a ticket only on the ground floor or at least in the first row of a balcony or lingerie. From the rest of the places is not visible and sit quite uncomfortable. Today we were at the ballet, sitting just on the second row of the dressage. Unfortunately, only half of the performance was enjoyed by the music and heads in front of those sitting ... But at least once it's worth it!

One of the best theaters not only in Russia, but worldwide. Best representations of classic ballets and opera at the highest performance level, a true delight. Magnificent and one of a kind atmosphere, everything is in perfect condition, a real embodiment of what a classical theater should be. Enormous heritage carried by the building itself and the people in it, carefully preserved and represented in ever changing exhibitions. A must go for every true Moscowite and tourist preferably (it is costly, but worth every penny).
We went there if we could go in, but it was not a performance day, which we could only see from the outside. It is a place where people pose to take pictures and Selfies.
