If people are telling you Killington s the Beast of the East, enjoy the lies. Sugarloaf is the premier ski destination of the East. What it lacks for in terms of a bustling European style visit, it makes up for in community, good times and one of the last few places where "mountain rules" exist.

Be a loafer, be free.

Sugarloaf is really the best skiing in Maine. Biggest vertical and the most steep terrain. A great place for families, too. Every run will bring you back to the base area so there is little chance of getting lost. The village at the base has a little bit of everything, restaurants, bars, groceries, and shopping. A free bus runs to most of the condos, making it easy to get around for skiing, shopping, or night life. This is a great place to ski, and a great place to be.

1 star due to the fact that we paid for a two day pass and both days were cancelled due to high winds. When asked for a refund we were provided with a 1 day voucher. There are 4 of us and we all traveled roughly 8 hours each.
My advise is to not purchase a ticket online if only coming for a weekend. This mountain needs to update there policies to better fit the needs of their clientele.

Had a great weekend at Sugarloaf! As always good food and beer at The Bag! Took the quad up up the Mountain and then hiked to the summit for lunch. The guys at Allspeed were great, hooked us up with a quick repair on my sons bike and picked up a great trail map. All around good time!

Very average. The rooms are decent, and the facilities too, but It s just a bit dirty and dated. If you ve ever stayed at The Great Wolf Lodge, this is very similar (except without the waterpark).

Honestly not impressed at all. Don t get me wrong the customer service is good but they need to do a better job placing customers in rooms according to what they re there for. I came up there for work and they put me in a room right next to the elevator. There was noise all night long and got 0 sleep.

Place people there for leisure on lower floors and people looking for a quieter experience on upper floors come on it s common sense.

What's up my peoples. A review from Sugarloaf Mountain Resort. I went on vacation there from the January 9th till 13th of January 2017 with my ski club the CT Snow Snakes. Let me just say the Sugarloaf Mountain was amazing. The conditions were excellent. I am a snowboarder for about 17 years now and the terrain there is very challenging and thrilling with all kinds of adventurous slopes. They have really tight slopes and really fast slopes and wide open ones. The mountain is not recommended for newbies. You need to know how to ride or ski when you venture to Sugarloaf Mountain. I ventured through the glades and wooded terrain there and it is ridiculous absolutely loved it. The Bracket Basin terrain lives up to its name . It's wonderful and very challenging you need to know how to ride or ski when your in there. Be careful if you ever ride or ski inside Bracket Basin you could get lost it's a very large area with vast jumps trees and cliffs to jump off you could get hurt really bad being in there. Again not for newbies. If you ever ride Bracket Basin once your inside ride or ski right and then stay to your left you will come out the bottom right to the lift chair. The more right you go better bring a compass and hope your cellphone works and get ready to hike. In other words your screwed. No complaints about Sugarloaf Mountain. If your a thrill seeker skier or an adventurous snowboarder rider Sugarloaf Mountain is what you are looking. By far best terrain on the East. Take care peoples.

The Loaf is awesome. We went at the end of February and the beginning of March. The conditions were a little uneven, but its a big Western style mountain with a bunch of backcountry areas. Some great bump trails, some pitchy runs, and some great trails to fly down. The lifts are little slow, but I needed the break. The people that work there are very friendly. I think it is a pretty windy mountain, which can cause lifts to go on wind hold often. Especially Timberline, which runs to the top. Lots of places to stay, the Inn looked nice, but we rented a private condo instead. Its easy to get around the resort, they have plenty of shuttle buses. The base area is small, but they have some good spots to eat, including a hipster donut shop. Definitely, a great spot for a family ski vacation.

Great friendly hotel staff. Voucher policy is terrible, only good until end of season. With the wind holds on lifts this mountain experiences, the policy should be more forgiving. Used to be a year to the date in the past. Restrooms in lodge well stocked and serviced. Good shuttle service for on mountain and nearby restaurants.

Next to Shawnee Peak, this is easily my favorite Mountain in Northern New England. The terrain is probably some of the most difficult terrain and all of the East Coast. Super steep steep terrain as well as great ungroomed mobile to rain. Sugarloaf Prides itself on a wide variety of varying difficulty levels of terrain. If you're an expert skier, this is the place to be if it's your first day on skis, you might want to think about going somewhere else. Sugarloaf is not known for his expert grooming but rather for its terrain management and variety. It really is an expert's dream mountain and like I said outside of Shawnee Peak, it's my favorite mountain and all of Northern New England. If it was closer to home it would probably be me!

Went up with my buddies on what ended up being the last day of skiing for the season. Hotel s amenities were nice (hot tub, sauna, steam room), unfortunately the cleaning staff may have been a bit rushed as one of the clean towels folded in our bathroom had numerous blood stains on it. (I at least hope they were just blood stains). Management offered their condolences.

Favorite ski mountain by far. Amazing terrain for all levels of skiers and the atmosphere is my favorite out of all the mountains I've been to. All the chairlift operators are friendly and add to the charm. The skiing is always great, with a good amount of snow making, and there are a lot of options for shopping and food.

Hoping to be able to change this review. Currently...

Hoping to be able to change this review. Currently sitting in the lobby at 4:40 pm waiting on our room to be cleaned for 4:00 pm check in. My bill was paid in full an entire week ahead of our vacation ($1985.00-4 nights) We came early (11:30) to get a day of skiing in. Did the whole pre- check in then. Have been waiting for a phone call to say our room is ready. That call still has not come. A new room was finally offered, on the first floor around the corner from the lobby. Granted our original room is only on the second floor but it s not near the lobby. Also, we were offered the opportunity to pay for an upgrade to a different room as well. That s not happening! The resort has already charged my credit card a $200.00 room deposit for a room I am not in. They have offered a $25.00 credit for our inconvenience but no guarantee as to when the room will be ready. The saying of the day....... Check-in BEGINS at 4:00 . Betcha check out will be promptly at 11:00......We were checked in by 5:00 pm. Heard from some guests that they waited until 8:00 pm for their room to be ready.

So, I am happy to report the trip did get better. Since the check in fiasco, the staff has been extremely helpful. They have also been flexible with minor changes in our reservation package and accommodating to a bad weather closed mountain day. (Absolutely no skiing due to extreme high winds).
The hotel is a fantastic location and the skiing has been amazing. The skiers in my party are double black diamond skiers and were impressed with this East Coast destination.
The pool is located off site and and extra cost unless it s built into your package. The on resort transportation system is wonderful so no need to even move your car once parked. There is a 30 person hot tub that is great after a day of skiing but often gets used like a pool for kids who s parents don t want to take their kids down to the fitness center to swim. Also, there is no shower or locker room attached to the hot tub. Slightly inconvenient.
The breakfast is worth having. Very nice. The village is convenient and walkable with plenty of friendly keepers.
Lacking is common area and a teen hangout space, game room. Not much to do if you don t ski or the weather makes it impossible to ski. 4 stars given because of the fantastic skiing, location and friendly staff. 3.5 might be a better rating. The Hotel could use some upgrades and thoughtful changes with their amenities.

Great on-the-mountain hotel for your winter skiing trips. Located within a stone's throw of two lifts, restaurants, equipment rental and service facilities. Great location!
Outdoor heated pool, jacuzzi, modern and clean but smallish rooms. Restaurant on site.
