SOA has a culture different from other car manufacturers. The company listens to their customers and takes good care of them.

They have a good system and they took care of my problem. I owned a new BMW X5 before my Forester Turbo and SOA beat BMW's customer service culture.

SOA, dont ever change this management style. I have referred my sister and two friends. All three bought a brand new 2019 Forester - all because of my good positive experience with you guys.

Subaru's are safe and last a long time. Don't believe it. My daughter has a 2002 Impreza with 130K miles. an average of 8K per year. We bought the vehicle used from a private seller. My daughter was driving on I-95 and the front control arm broke and fell apart. Very lucky there was not an accident alone or with other vehicles as she got it off the highway. The car was towed to a reputable repair station by AAA. We were told that there was a recall on the car for that exact reason. I called Subaru and was told that our Impreza has already been repaired for that issue by spraying the control arm with a rust inhibitor ( magic pixie dust I surmise ). That was Subaru's idea of a fix? Really! I was then told that I had to have the vehicle towed again at my expense to a dealer. The dealer would then determine Subaru's liability. If they didn't think it was their problem, I would then have to pay for the inspection as well. The person on the phone was rude and told me my car was old, implying these types of problems should be expected. That it was not Subaru's problem for an inadequate recall repair on a car of that age. Again... Safe... long lived??? In a pigs eye. I hope no one loses their life over a similar issue with a 2002 Impreza. Supposedly repaired for the safety of a major suspension component.

I have been having a bad car buying experience with Subaru of Moon Township in Pennsylvania. I called Subaru of America who is the main supplier to Subaru Car Dealerships. I talked to a customer service rep and explained my issues to him. He agreed %100 that I had a terrible experience. However, he then proceeded to tell me that all of there Dealers are privately owned and I would need to take my issues up with that dealership. He outright stated to me that Sunaru of America would do nothing to help me. At this point... I wouldnt recommend anybody buying from Subaru! They have no problem taking your money but they dont want to hear about your problems!

It takes a lot for me to write a negative review. I honestly just don't have the time or inclination usually. But after the phone call I just received from Subaru customer advocacy, I feel compelled. My wife purchased a low mileage 2012 Subaru outback in 2014. We had issues the very first day with the transmission. The drive from Charlotte to Columbia threw every light on the dashboard and a code for the transmission. We called the dealership we purchased from, and they insisted that it must have been a fluke. The codes were cleared and we continued driving. In the years since then, the problem has reappeared multiple times. The local dealership in Columbia looked at the vehicle and said they could not duplicate the error. They changed very minor parts, never actually solving the problem. We took it to the dealership multiple times. On the last visit, they put in a transmission relay and stated that part extended the warranty on the transmission (Subaru had issued a voluntary extension of the warranty due to multiple failures for this model). After wasting many weeks driving back and forth with no resolution, we took it to an independent mechanic. They verified the transmission problem and gave us paperwork showing so. We took the vehicle back to the dealership with that paperwork. They only drove it additional 22 miles and said they could not duplicate the issue. Subaru customer support would only suggest that we take it to a different dealership 200 miles away. Now the problem has gotten significantly worse, and Subaru refuses to help because they say the vehicle is out of warranty. Despite the fact that I have piles of paperwork showing them when it was well within warranty when the errors first started. The young lady I just got off the phone with was incredibly rude and condescending. She had the nerve to tell me that I was the one being disrespectful when she was literally brushing off every single thing that I told her and can verify with documentation. My advice is to steer clear of Subaru if you want reliability or quality customer service. I have received neither in the last 5 years. When I'm home with all of my paperwork, I will be scanning and posting it everywhere I can. I doubt Subaru cares, but if I can save just one person the frustration I've experienced I'll feel somewhat vindicated.

I have had my Subaru Forest (2017 model), i purchased it with 7,000 miles. I got the certified pre-owned warranty extended and i just recently had rodents eating the inside electric harness of the engine. I got slapped with a 3,730 dollar service charge which is entirely excessive and i called to see if Subaru could help or not. Based on several class action law suits it would seem that the soy based content of the wiring has something to do with it. I am 23 and this was my first newish car purchase. I planned on upgrading to the Subaru Ascent, however, it seem that Subaru is more interested in the money in their pockets then the satisfaction of their clients. Sadly i will never purchase a Subaru again, and I will posting this on every rating site that i can find in an effort to warn others. I do not wish for this excessive repair price to happen to anyone else. There is a reason there has been so many recalls in the past couple of years and i believe that this issue is along the same lines.

I bought a used 2006 Subaru Outback at Ira Subaru 17 months ago with 98k miles and some recent work done it (timing belt especially) that was exciting. In 17 months, thanks to a great unlimited miles/1 year parts warrantee I ve had the short block replaced twice, cyclinders, head gaskets, etc as well twice. I ve only driven it 5k miles in 17 months. 3k of those miles were to conduct three different oil consumption tests. In total, it has spent 6 of those 17 months in Subaru shops. The parts warrantee has saved me, but at some point, will they concede that this car is a lemon, or will they continue to replace the engine over and over? There hasn t been a single time where I ve driven 1k miles without burning all of the oil, even after replacement. Two stars for the warrantee. No more for the unwillingness to call a lemon a lemon and give me my money back.

I've had my 2012 Subaru Outback for 2 years and I ...

I've had my 2012 Subaru Outback for 2 years and I have paid $8,000 in maintenance fees. The car literally costs $4,000 a year in maintenance over and above gas and oil changes. I bought the car at 112,000 miles, did the water pump, oil pump, timing belt, and a valve job for $5,200, at 121,000. At 189,000 miles a knocking developed and the Carr Subaru 'service' dude says, "Our work is out of warranty, it'll be $2,900.00." So that's $8,000 in maintenance to drive the car 80,000 miles. So now, this Outback is at 190,000 miles and in 50,000 more miles, it'll need the quadruple bypass again with a timing belt, water pump, oil pump, and a seal kit. At that time I'll have 240,000 miles and the maintenance will have cost me: $13,000. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. THAT'S HOW MUCH I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR. I DRIVE 50,000 MILES A YEAR -THIS CAR IS NOT CAPABLE OF DOING THAT

Bought a brand new 2019 STI this past August of 2019. Its December 12th, 2019 and i still dont have my car back. Ive made over 10 trips between 2 dealerships. Ill never ever buy another Subaru for as long as I live. The terrible customer service is just one side. Secondly, the service department at Groove Subaru in colorado is horrendous. They had my car for 20 days plus and didnt do anything with it. Schomp Subaru has done a great deal to try to help me but even they failed to get it fixed properly after having the car for almost a month now (in fairness the delay was due to the rear backing plates not being in stock for a bit). SOA just belittles you and acts like you shouldnt be complaining that your brand new $40k purchase is messed up and needs fixed. The car still has the now expired temp tags from Oct 16th, 2019. I never have the car in my possession as its always at a shop. No point in paying to get it registered when I dont even have it! I will continue to spread the word with even more detail than I have listed here. I will make sure anyone I know doesnt purchase a Subaru unless its an old one. The new ones are junk and they dont support them. How someone drops nearly $40,000 on a brand new car and goes through the hell I have for 4 months is beyond me. STOP SELLING CARS IF YOU WONT SUPPORT THEM AND BELITTLE THE CUSTOMER WHEN PROBLEMS ARISE.

Subaru even sent me good gifts to appreciate me as a customer. I think they are trying their best to treat customers well once they realize your concern.

Modified to 3 stars. I have to BBB them to get them responding to my message. The problem got solved eventually so I am adding 2 stars.

1 star DON'T BUY SUBARU!!!
My 2014 Subaru forester's rear left struct and coil spring was broken in July 2018. The vehicle, which only had 49k miles, was unable to run safely under that failure uncommon to cars with 49k miles. I got it repaired in the Wakefield Subaru for an out-of-pocket $450 in July 2018. . Right now the VIN is under a recall WUT05 "Rear coil spring" issued in Nov, 2019. Apparently there is a quality issue with the rear left coil spring and struct.

Great cars Subaru. Dealership in Reno, Nevada is dishonest. From Financial to Service Department and Management. Went with Costco price quote and Costco discount. Received discount then was overcharged on other items. Low balled by hundreds of dollars on my trade in that had just been sale priced by the local Honest Honda Dealership that they would purchased my Honda.

I am a permanently disabled combat wounded warrior from Operation Desert Storm including with Traumatic Brain Injuries. The dealership deliberately kept me waiting dragging their feet after the test drive, knowing my disabilities and purposely aggravating my injuries to dull my senses from the pain.

Appears that the Subaru dealership apparently added my equity in my trade-in and added it to the purchase price instead of subtracting that sum from the purchase price. Added additional fees that they could not explain. Double talk and denials deliberately to confuse the customer.

Dealership Lied about the odometer reading on the vehicle which was actually 15 times higher than they claimed.

Shame!

My 2013 Subaru Impreza (purchased certified pre-owned in Aug 2016) has been having excessive issues since I purchased it. I've been told this is "not typical" for Subaru vehicles, but as a first-time Subaru owner, I'm OVER IT. 2 oil consumption tests, new engine, hard start issues (coincidentally right after the new engine was installed), new rotors, a new "brake light stop switch". When will it stop???? Do you stand behind your brand? Did I happen to get a "lemon"? On top of all of this, the Bay Ridge Brooklyn dealership (where the car was purchased) is impossible to work with. They can't guarantee a time when a mechanic can look at your car - forcing you to pay for a loaner vehicle, not knowing if issues are covered by warranty (a separate review will be left for them). They refused to squeeze me in for the emergency switch repair, which was a 10 min fix and they had the part in stock. I'm OVER IT, Subaru. Please make it better. I will be anxiously awaiting your call.

2013 Subaru Outback, ~125k miles, code P2764 that links back to a known transmission issue by which Subaru is aware of and extended the time warranty to 2022 but not the mileage warranty. Apparently this is a costly repair as the dealership immediately told me to contact corporate without telling me the cost of the repair. I contacted corporate and was offered $750 towards the purchase of a new Subaru. Shocked to say the least! To me, this vehicle was just getting started. I paid a lot, or a lot for me, for this vehicle and have taken care of it. Between having to constantly add oil to it, supposedly a trade off for fuel economy, and replacing exterior lamps on the vehicle, equipment alone has cost me in excess of $8000 per year. In my world, that s way too much money to drive a car. If Subaru is offering me $750 for a new car, do they not believe in their own product? I searched forums and have found I m not the only one that has had this problem and am also not the only that was offered $750 towards a new car.
Subaru was urged to offer a recall on the issue and they did not. It is a safety issue as it causes the vehicle to stall in less than ideal situations. Subaru of America, keep your $750 and let it be known how you stand behind your product!

We bought a brand new Subaru Outback Limited (our 6th over the past 20 years) from McGovern this past Saturday and brought it home. We registered the car, drove it over the weekend, and got all the systems calibrated for SiriusXM, SUBARU link, etc. When we stopped by today (Monday) to get a missing inspection sticker, the dealership told us they need the car back as they sold us a car that had been recalled. Really??? A brand new car we had for 36 hours was already recalled???? Turns out the recall notice was received by the dealer 2 days before we even contacted the dealer to buy a car.

So....Given the recall was due to a faulty structural weld, and given it was unknown how long the car would be out of commission, my wife did not feel comfortable with keeping that car, so the dealer unwound the deal. We still wanted a car, but the dealer was not interested in working out something (e.g.another car, etc.). No discussion on selling us a different Outback. So we asked to look at 2 different model cars on the lot to test drive and perhaps purchase. We got to drive the first one (BMW X3) but then when we went to test drive the second(Lexus RX350), the salesperson said no , we needed to take a break to cool off ....really? So now they don t want to sell us a car, any car?

Morale of the story? McGovern made multiple mistakes in the sales process, not all called out, caused us 3 days of effort, we spent money to title and register the new car, and reregister our old car, and then the dealer shut us out from buying any car from them....this was not the salesperson,, she was very helpful, we believe it was the sales manager. I am dumbfounded that despite all the screw ups, the sales manager successfully avoided even talking with us..... worst customer experience I have ever had...
