I don t usually write reviews, but this situation made me mad beyond my limit!!! This firm deserves zero stars in fact!
Beware! If you want to be treated well and you want your case to be taken good care of never hire this lawyer! All you will hear is promises how he can handle your case, however in reality he ll dodge you multiple times! My case was very time sensitive and Matthew assured me he d be able to handle it! I have scheduled an appointment with him which was rescheduled 5 times! Attorneys hasn t met me even once and hasn t prepared me for anything (where the preparation was clearly outlined in the contract) and then blamed me for failing. Super unprofessional and lame to hear this kind of response from a person who is claiming to be a professional attorney. After failing to fulfill the terms of contract I requested a refund to which he agreed (well... the least he could do to recover from a very disappointing experience doing business with him). Thanks god for a decent decision and action - I was so stupid to think so. I haven t seen a refund in 5 months, which he promised will take only 2 weeks to appear on my account, only to hear back from him that he will not provide it at all after 5 months!! Oh, and what I have to tell you by the way, I had to create a new email account to get him to respond to me, since I wasn t getting any responses from my initial form of correspondence. Was I blocked or disregarded?! Who knows?!
I would never recommend this attorney to anyone!
Save yourself some money and hassle by avoiding this firm altogether! One way or the other you ll have to hire someone else to fix what you be left with after working with this firm! You ll be better off hiring someone more competent, considerate and respectful of your matter, and responsible for the work that needs to be completed without some lame excuses or blaming you at the end.

Matt was very helpful. Happy with my results. It took some time, but when all was said and done, I was very satisfied. I'm glad things weren't rushed. Matt got it done right!

Would give zero stars if I could. Matt is arrogant, unintelligent, and all around an awful attorney. Absolutely unprofessional. Do not recommend.

I recently worked with Streff Legal on my husband's spousal visa and I had to discontinue partnering with them as a client. I urge anyone who may consider having Matthew represent them to strongly reconsider. He missed or rescheduled more than 4 calls. He went over a month supplying sufficient information I needed to complete my tasks for my case. You will have to follow up not once, but possibly three times to get him to respond to you. I was neglected as a customer, am now out a couple thousand dollars, and now have to start over with my spousal visa. He is sloppy, a poor communicator, and highly unprofessional.

I would not recommended Matthew Streff as an immigration attorney.

My relationship with Matthew Streff started fairly well when we began my visa application in early June 2018. He was understanding, explained the plan of action for my immigration status and seemed very confident. As time went by, however, he got more and more distant.

By December he had rescheduled a total of 19 times: July 13th, 15th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 26th, and 28th, August 2nd, 4th, and 8th, October 8th, 17th, and 18th, November 19th, 26th, and 28th, December, 2nd, 3rd, and 11th.

Every time he rescheduled, he had an excuse: I bought a house , I am sick , I have to take care of another client , etc... The last appointment however, (on December 11th), I waited in front of his office for an hour and 30 minutes, called his office numerous times and left numerous messages for him. A day later he sent me a message telling me he could not make it and he was sorry.

After 19 missed appointments, one no show, and countless text messages, my application was finally filed with USCIS. A sliver of sunshine and happiness shone through all of that chaos! Finally!

Then he became truly unresponsive. I tried to communicate with him numerous times between January 29th and March 22nd, but got no response. He began responding to me sporadically in April, then another period of silence between June 10th to August 7th.

I finally gave up after realizing he typed my SSN incorrectly on my entire visa application, which was a blatant error that will cost me a lot of time and effort to fix going forward. I stuck with him through having to tell him under what category to file my I-765 as he was about to file it under the wrong category, and him informing me, two months late, of a mandatory biometric appointment, but that was the last straw.

Don t get me wrong, Streff is very knowledgeable in many areas, but organization is not one of them. I appreciate the work he did for me, but his lack of communication with me since pretty much the beginning, and the several texts he sent me that were very inappropriate (in my opinion) for a client-attorney correspondance made me want to re-file my application without representation rather than work with him.

I believe that something is probably happening currently in his life that s preventing him from giving his clients the attention they deserve. The lawyer that recommended Streff to me is amazing and reliable, and he could not believe what I was telling him when I asked for advice on what to do about Streff s behavior.

I genuinely hope he gets his affairs in order and can go back to taking care of his clients properly. Meanwhile, no, I would not recommend Matthew Streff as an immigration attorney.

If I could go back and do things differently, I would have used the Immigration Law Center of Minnesota, which has many pro-bono attorneys, and may be able to help you with your immigration issues if you re considering working with Streff. I wish I knew about them before this whole ordeal began.

I am writing this review to ward off anyone looking for a legitimate, responsible, and timely immigration lawyer. Save your money, and most of all save your time. Even his pro bono is more costly than actually finding another lawyer. A loved one of mine hired this lawyer and has experienced nothing but excuses, missed and cancelled appointments, misinformation, and blatantly being ignored. If I could give no stars, there would be no stars. Paperwork was filed late (months late!) and there were no plausible reasons to why they were filed late. Even if there were, maybe if this lawyer actually showed up for a meeting these reasons could have been explained. I hope you can make excuses for all these poor reviews to new clientele. I don't usually write reviews, good or bad, but things had gone too far with this lawyer and there should be something said about being accountable for your service. Thankfully, this lawyer has been fired.

If you want your case WON, That's the guy!!!!!!!!!!

Matt is incredibly easy to work with, knows what he is doing, and explains the processes in terms that I was able to understand. He is dedicated to his work and stands on a strong social justice and rights-based grounding. I'd recommend him over and over!

I am impressed with Matt s professionalism and dedication to his clients. As a fellow attorney, I would not hesitate to refer clients to him.

Working with Matt was an incredibly positive experience. He took his time explaining all the complexities of the legal process and patiently responded to all my questions. He was thorough and thoughtful. I felt complete confidence in his ability to represent me!

WARNING SCAMMER!

Be so very careful with this excuse of an "attorney." He does not care about representing your case. It all seemed great when we first hired him back in the beginning of December 2018, but then he became more and more distant as soon as he had access to our checking account.

He knew of our special scenario to have the papers filed ASAP, he knew my husband had already dished out $360 for his medical exam that expired in 60 days of hire date. He knew we already had the forms filled out for him, we just needed a review and the "insurance" of having an attorney sign off on the papers. We kept getting excuse after excuse for why he had not even sent drafts over to us. We provided anything and everything we needed to support our case in a timely manner. After the medical exam expired, he promised that "taking of one month of payments" would cover the cost of not filing within the well-known time limit we made extremely clear to him. After weekly excuses or, just straight up not responding, of why he had not sent the drafts over for review, we called his office and wanted to terminate the relationship. Funny enough we actually heard from after 10 minutes of calling to say the drafts would be ready that week. We FINALLY received our drafts February 26, 2019.

Now he knew we had only another 60 days to file after spending yet another $100 to renew the medical papers beginning of March 2019. We were told that he would file the papers that week. Another 1-2 weeks goes by, nothing. After trying to contact him over and over for updates, we were yet again made empty promises on filing completion. After making it clear we needed them filed by April, we still had not heard from him.

My husband contacts him yet again for an update April 1st, and he completely snaps on him. I have attached a screenshot of his unprofessional manner. I can't believe this guy still had a business if that's how he reacts to pressure. Needless to say we fired him. Now we are out $700, the medical fees, and 4 months of our lives put on hold just to cater to this excuse of a man. I have been working 2, now 3 jobs to support the both of us, trying to get his work verification sent out so I can maybe have a life outside of work. Relying on Matthew Streff, and giving him countless chances was the worst decision of my life. If you want an attorney who is in communication with you in a timely manner or follows through, look somewhere else.

I love how you're so quick to respond to a google review, but were never quick to respond to us about our case that you were getting paid for. Oh but that's probably the catch, you were getting paid to do nothing for us. And would you look at that, excuses again. Complete denial about the reality of the situation. This should just ensure to everyone that you're priorities and moral character are completely flawed.

I know Matt cares deeply for his clients. As a fellow attorney, I have happily referred clients to him and have heard only great reviews!

If I could give Matt a negative rating for the way he has handled a small case, the value would represent the service he has provided his client. He continues, in emails, to say, "I promise I will call you back and let you know the status," but time and time again, we receive excuse after excuse about why he didn't get the work done he stated he "set time aside to complete." It is four months later and all there is to show for the $ we've paid upfront are rediculous excuses.......The dog ate my homework, I got run over by a bus and broke my leg....How can this be ethical in the eyes of the legal board?? Lawyers like Matt are how the rest of the hard working, diligent attorneys get a bad rap. . I wonder what the Board would say about the ethics of his work? Or lack there of.........

Matt did a great lawyer. He was so hard work so much and work on it for client s case. Thanks for all of his work.

Matt Streff is a competent lawyer, but he really needs to work on his scheduling. We had quite a bit of a runaround trying to pin him down for the final meeting to finish our application paperwork, and he no-showed on us without any notification on one occasion. However, my girlfriend's certificate of visa processing is currently in his office, so he got the job done in the end.

Matt is really good on what he does, and I really appreciate on his hard work and the effort he put on my husband s case. I highly recommend Yes we won th case because Matt was on our side and outstanding lawyer. Thank you for all you have done it for us.
