nice place and nice vibe. however, the food was not that good, especially the warm salmon. and most of the foods were salty. the service was pretty good tho.

Makan for treating guests and lousy service After first notifying the messenger that I should be reimbursed dinner, I am now accused of lying about the course. What is particularly interesting to be told on Messenger now is that the waitress a HE claims to have known me and that I got a new dish something I definitely did not get. After all, I have three "witnesses" that I did not get, nor any regrets about inedible deer fillet. Especially interesting since we were served by a SHE. So now they have withdrawn that I should be reimbursed, based on a claim from a male waiter who was definitely not ours. I give up and have no respect for being suspicious when I give an honest review and am told that I am lying about the treatment I received. There are obviously employees who are not honest. Here original message; Very disappointed, terribly poor venison with half cooked potatoes. And when you have to leave half of the meat just left and the rest have to be spit out, where feedback is only I will take it up with the kitchen, and then you hear no more and pay NOK 399, - worst meal and service in my 52 year old life. The waiter should at least give feedback and when the meat is inedible consider some form of compensation. Certainly not recommended

This has gone from very good to very bad. The 9-member company received poor treatment from both the headmaster / manager and waiter. Di was directly rude and denied written deals. Everything was a problem. We sat at table 20.30 and had to wait 50 min for starters.

We ate the deer dish. It was fantastic! Very well prepared! Only reason I give it 4 stars vs 5 is the fact that it was a bit pricier than anticipated. If you go in expecting to pay 300 - 500 krones, then you'll have no problem. We definitely got the authentic Norwegian cuisine!

Was very disappointed, visited the place in a closed team. Small dishes and sometimes stressed waiters.
It was ordered 3 courses with the Christmas plate as the main course. The appetizer was pretty dull. It consisted of a few slices of fennel, a bit of sausage and just a little dough of sour cream. The Christmas platter was served without potato and gravy so it was pretty boring too. The rice cream served for dessert was very good so they get one small plus there. Then they stopped ordering drinks at the tables after dessert, then you had to go to the bar yourself. When you had to pay, this went very slow. Ordering at the bar went even slower, although one was the only one who ordered. Neither service nor food was in line with the price here, this was well below par!

Don't like to say it, but wasn't the best experience here today. Got dirty glass, butter with breadcrumbs in it (as if they just took it from one table to another), poor food and dining. The waitress almost ignored us, we almost had to shout for her to hear us.

Excellent service, excellent food and wine pairing. Cozy environment. Price is fair, given what you get.

Have had extensive experience here. The food seems cold and lifeless. The fish tasted refrigerator, the burger was cold in the middle, pulled pork seemed like leftovers warmed up again. The toilets are worn and shabby. Old and venerable style, so points for location and charm, but steer clear, there are many other places nearby.

Yes the building is historical but that is absolutely the only thing this place has going for it! Go here if you want the worst food in Oslo at a premium price. The service was fine but nothing else. The bathrooms look like a run down pub.

Good in Norwegian tradition food, but that stops. The Norwegian knowledge of the service is so bad that it is a real challenge to order and to get what you want. Too bad, especially in such an ancient historical place.

Great fish dishes in a traditional Norwegian setting

Went here for dinner looking to enjoy traditional Norwegian food. Was thoroughly disappointed. There was a 3 course chefs menu listed - we assumed you could pick any 3 items from the menu as it wasn t listed as a set menu. We later found out this was not the case. Despite 2 of our party having the correct starter and main they wanted a different dessert - both of which were cheaper or the exact same price as the correct dessert and were not allowed to change it and had to pay over 100NOK more to have the meal as 3 separate courses so they could have the dessert they wanted. Then there was the issue with the actual food! 2 people had the crayfish bisque - all they got from this meal was one mouthful (a small one at that) and was charged 164NOK for this! Absolutely disgusting. The mains were nothing special either - the lamb was very rare for one person. The Cheesecake dessert was tiny. The staff were not helpful when we questioned them about the set menu and just didn t seem to care after all they were making a lot of money from us! We just couldn t believe it - probably the worst meal/restaurant experience I have ever had - both in terms of food & service. Don t go here - save your money and go elsewhere! Unfortunately the lowest rating I can put is 1 star - but that s only because I have to select something - I wouldn t even give it that.

Bad service. Disproportionately long waiting to be ordered. The food was fine, the waiter rude. Lot was coming to the table for over half an hour when we were paying, even though he knew we wanted to pay and go. Hair-raising behavior at rush hour in the afternoon. We were many guests, was that we were women cause of miserable service?

Nice and cozy restaurant with good traditional Norwegian food.Not the cheapest or the best place to eat in Oslo, but on of the better ones in the city. Can definitely recommend it!

A restaurant located in a house from 1700, the decoration of the living room located in an inner courtyard was incredible, surrounded by fountains, statues, flowers ... the unbeatable attention, the attentive team and when it cooled a little we took blankets to cover our legs , the food was a delight, they explained the origin of all the cheeses that were served to us ...

A must of Oslo is expensive, but worth it.

The chop sandwich I ordered was not made at the restaurant, but came from GILDE. The shrimp ball that was ordered by my wife was made from frozen shrimp, at a price of 199.-

Charming house with nice staff and great food. Often live music and a large backyard that is well used throughout the year.

We were looking for a great Norwegian culinary experience and that's exactly what we got! We got a reasonably priced and extensive meal of different sources, all of which were delicious. Despite a large event, the service was excellent and rapid, and they offered us free coffee for a small delay in the food that we barely noticed. Would highly recommend to anyone who only has a short time to experience all the wealth of food Oslo has to offer.

A combination of quality dining and the somewhat historical vibe of the locales makes this a genteel place for special occasions.

I've only visited this place during the Christmas season when this is effectively a factory for people having their Christmas parties with work (called julebord literally translated to Christmas table). The Christmas food was very good, but the place isn't the cosiest. It also gets pretty loud when it's full. So it's hard to have a conversation if you are more than four people. I don't think we'll be coming here for the next "Christmas table", but I'm sure it's nicer when it's less busy.

Great service The food is very good and the place is very cozy. This restaurant is an old Norwegian restaurant in the center of Oslo.
I really recommend this place to all. If you wanna go out for drink this is also the place you can enjoy the evening out with friends and family.

This place was amazing and the customer service was great. I had the elk and it was beautifully cooked with some amazing vegetables. It was so tasty. The whole atmosphere of the place was really cozy with a warm hearth and great soft music. The staff were super helpful and friendly. I'm a traveling student so I didn't have any nice clothes on me but the waitress still served me with just as much respect as anyone else. The only things I would say is that the bread was very hard and the bathrooms a little dirty. If you don't mind that then you'll have a great relaxing time. Would definitely go again.

This time we were disappointed we had ordered a table and christmas lunch. It was chaotic when we arrived and we waited for the table for 15min. The lunch was "thrown" on the plate. The service was late and we had to wait 20 min for the food. It was characterized by the assembly line principle. Sad

A perfect place for a cozy lunch on a cold Saturday in Oslo - or just about any other time, for that matter. Excellent service, good food and drink, and all for a surprisingly reasonable price, especially in the Oslo tourist zone. Most places here are avoided by the locals, and for good reason. This place is one of the very few and most enjoyable exceptions.

Duck as a main course had accessories that were supposed to be hot, but unfortunately it was cold. My main course which was beef steak was mostly slivers and fat. The only thing that was good was the red wine. Does not tempt to visit again.

A wonderful and worthy building in Oslo with a lot of history. Unfortunately the food here was poor. Finished salted carrots from the store. Stuffed bread, tough chops etc. Such a great building deserves to serve homemade food of much higher quality. The price did not match the quality.

Very nice service, but when the deer should be medium is served completely raw (could as well be dropped and browned the meat and called it sushi) and some drinks are sold out at 20:30 then it is just too bad.
