Whilst the food was delicious and well presented in the upstairs restaurant, some aspects of the service were well below what we would expect and the atmosphere was not that of a fine dining restaurant.

We ordered starters and a cocktail each to start our celebrations. Before the starter was even half way done the mains arrived. With the arrival of mains the wine menu was whisked away without even the suggestion that we might like to order some wine. We were able to eventually get the attention of other staff and make a selection. There was a real inference that the sooner we finish and leave the better it would be for the staff.

Then there was the atmosphere. The downstairs area had been turned into a nightclub for a private function. On arrival there were bouncers on the door and people checking off names which caused some confusion. At our table our conversation was drowned out by the music from the party below and the yelling of party goers one to another. The fantastic view was interrupted by the party goers dancing on and climbing over seats.

Not likely to return.

I visited the Stokehouse on Saturday . I wish I could say it had been amazing unfortunately it was not. I ordered the fried chicken with caviar starter the two little cubes of breaded chicken arrived at the table with lump caviar on top , the chicken had been braised , shredded ,pressed then breaded , then fried it tasted very salty and full of oil for the price very expensive and underwhelming worked out at 9$ piece for a canape . Moving on we order two serves of the poach bug tail this two was awful it had been sous vide the proteins had not been able to set the bugs had a raw soft under cooked texture and had taken on all the salt making it inedible due to the salt .This dish was also very expensive and just a pieces of protein on a plate with micro herbs and a small dice of melon. Then the squid came out this one was the worst dish out of the lot, 4 little pieces of squid in the most underwhelming romanesca sauce ever. The squid was cold and tasteless and so expensive for no flavor and really nothing on the plate. Lamb dish was ok and the crushed peas which was a side dish also ok as well.

Now for the best part!! at the time there was a private party finishing up as we are leaving . My partner and friend headed to the women's bathroom , I waited up the hall on the coach what I witnessed was gross clearly they was a private party happening in the handicapped bathroom three women where on side one woman decided to join them drinks in hand banging on the door to be let in . I don't know what going on in there but they all left got half way up the hall still with drinks in hand way and decided to go back after having a conference in the hallway obviously need to powder there noses some more. You behave like that in a night club you get chucked out . Not to mention it is a disabled toilet for the disabled not for coked up ageing Toorak house wives private party's (stay classy Melbourne).
All in all over priced venue, food is very average view is nice service was good but the food is basic there are better places to go in Melbourne. If they didn't have the location they would have been closed years ago.

Very bad experience. Incredibly overpriced for unbelievable small portion size meals.

I know this seems ridiculous and silly, but we Left the restaurant hungry after spending over $300 and ordered a large pizza with Uber Eats!!!
