Interesting cross section of reviews. Anyway from my experiences. Yesterday attended A&E with a burn . Yes there was a wait but they were extremely busy. In the end though it was 1 hour to see Triage nurse Helen who appeared to be working for ages and really rapidly processing people ! It's none stop and she was excellent , remain friendly and helpful and respectful whilst multi-tasking . A credit. Then another 1 hour to see consultant nurse Gema who was in training . This made no difference she was professional and a delight. And helpful. I was patched up and referred to wythenshawe who in turn phoned me early this morning with an appointment.
I was not rushed through treatment and if course this is why waiting time can increase . They run a 2 stream process based in need and I don't see what else they can .
Only negative comment is paying for parking when you have no idea how long will be ... pay on exit may be better

Some months back I had an appointment here for an x-ray, again no complaints, 5 stars

I want to put this into perspective as I have had very good treatment for any physical problems over the last few years. However, i was feeling extremely desperate today. I felt suicidal as I have been suffering with mental health issues over the last year. All the professionals have told myself and other patients to access the A&E when in crisis. What a complete let down!!!!! The staff could not care less, i was left waiting for 4 hrs which caused me major distress, I was offered no safe and quiet place. When I went into a heightened state, the staff just ignored me. No one came to me, i had to keep asking. No wonder suicide rates are on the up. Where is the help? I will never go back to the A&E at Stepping Hill with my mental health again. In my opinion, if any one is struggling with their feelings, choose another hospital!

Should be shut down. Awful hospital. Lying on the floor in the waiting room shivering and being sick. Freezing cold in there.

I had a fever, sickness, shakes, severe abdominal pain and they were putting people with glass in their foot before me. Jokes. Never going back there again

Great A&E dept. Brilliant service and excellent staff. After breaking her nose my wife was seen immediately and an xray taken. After further investigation by a wonderful doctor she had the wound stitched and medication issued. Back home within three hours with further appointment arranged at fracture clinic.

I had to put 1 star so I could write this review. After attending this hospital in March with a young men with Autism and Mental Health. His eye was closed and he was complaining that he could not see. He was given some eye drops. When in fact he had a detached retina. With the right diagnosis this eye could have been saved but instead they just left him to go Blind. Hope all concerned are happy with this.

My twins were born there a number of years ago and my wife had a horrific time with the useless staff and arrogant, rude doctors.

I was recently taken very ill on the train and was taken to Stepping Hill - I was seen by an extremely rude doctor who spoke to me like I was a horrible child or a complete idiot for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Disgusting place.

I really hope I don't ever have to visit this place again.

I spent 3 weeks on A1 gastro Ward, and all the nurses were so helpful, which made my stay more comfortable. There all so lovely, and even when the wards hectic if you need anything they will find the time to do it for you. The staff are amazing, and they all deserve to be recognised for the amazing job they do, as I don't think the get the recognition they need. Their doing an amazing job, and they do 12 hour shifts and 4/5 days a week, they have to deal with difficult patients and they put all there time into looking after everyone which is why I think they should be recognised for what an amazing job there doing.
Thank you to everyone who looked after me.

Rude and abrupt reception staff in the A&E Department. A most unwelcoming experience tonight, the two women working on front desk are the last thing need when you have a medical emergency.

My wife was cut off mid conversation while trying to explain the problem so the women could bark who told you to come here! what kind of question is that when a person is in need of urgent medical assistance.

You would think that a hospital would recruit people with a kind and caring nature for this role but that clearly isn t the case.

Avoid unless you feel like being treated like an utter inconvenience.

Had to go to A&E this morning after a fall whilst walking.
Diagnosis on arrival, dislocated shoulder.
From start to finish the service was fantastice and a big Thankyou to all the staff who cared for me brilliantly.
Included in the treatment was;
Checking in at reception
Triage
2 Xrays
Drugging me up and putting the joint back at the 1st attempt
Aftercare, treating superficial wounds.
Time taken, just 3 hours to complete all of the procedures and discharge notes.
THANKYOU AND WELL DONE TO EVERYONE CONCERNED
Regards
Tom Gregory

With some trepidation I went into Stepping Hill for a hip replacement. No need to worry :from the consultant to the cleaners everyone was so friendly, helpful and empathetic.. Wonderful range of people from many countries dedicated to looking after the patients in D2.

Can't fault the hospital.

I've been sat for 3 hours in a&e and when I asked if I had been forgotten about the receptionist told me they had shouted my name and i didnt go and get seen to, I haven't moved from my seat and the only name that was called but not answered was not my name and now I have been told I need to go through the whole process again to be seen, im absolutely fuming! Im only here because I was told to come by the receptionist if i couldn't get an appointment from a clinic nurse for my bandage change and now I've been told I shouldn't have come here for my bandage change!

I can not fault this hospital as from the beginning appointments and investigations into my case to the actual surgery/aftercare in recovery and on the ward was absolutely amazing. I have only received support and been made to feel as comfortable as possible. The nurses on my ward were very on their toes and were there to help as soon as they could see I needed it. Pain relief was offered regularly and I was made to feel so comfortable until being discharged. All staff were very caring and I never felt out of my comfort zone once. Thank you for the best experience x

They're taking good care of my brother. I'm able to get updates during corona as no visitors allowed which has helped. Staff are helping us set up video calling for future use. Very caring and taking thorough tests of my brother. Although I can't see him, I know that my brother is in good care - every update is consistent and staff constantly know his information and I can call at ANY time of day for an update.
As with most hospitals, the main issue is expensive parking but they do have a 30 minute drop-off car park which helped as we did need to speak to a doctor in person about his status.

Stepping Hill was beyond excellent during my stay. I had broken my wrist extremely badly and was in for a few nights and couldn t have been more impressed. From the initial analysis at a&e to full treatment every member of staff I came into contact with was excellent and and a credit to the nhs. The way they worked with extremely difficult patients on my ward was particular impressive. Keep it up and thank you so much

On Friday, 3rd July at 3pm I had an Echocardiogram at S.H. I arrived with 5 minutes to spare, having asked directions from a friendly volunteer at Reception. At the exact time of my appointment, a radiologist, (I think he said his name was Mike), invited me to go into a room. As I was in a wheelchair he helped me in, and then chatted informally with me throughout the procedure, taking away any feelings of nervousness I might have had. I found the whole experience very positive. Thank you, Mike, and all other staff.

Got admitted via gp on friday to ward d6 all nurses and care assistants were fantastic the dr i had on the weekend was exceptional he knew how frightend and anxious i was he was very reassuring but however the dr i had from monday was inconsiderate and had no time for me he was arrogant and didnt seem to give a monkeys however nurses liz, nick,jo, antoniette and a few others and care assistants kathy, emma, were outstanding i cant thank them enough for there reassurance, kindness and support if every hospital had nurses and carers like ward d6 no one would have anything to complain about however a few doctors need lessons in care and sensitive approach other than that i was looked after really well cant thank you enough.

Visited ophthalmology outpatient department April 22nd 2021.
Totally disorganised. I was given a very perfunctory eye test, and left in a room for 30 minutes, where I'd still be probably, if I hadn't gone to look for someone.
Seems I'd been forgotten about!
Half the equipment didn't seem to function properly.
Not at all impressed. I am requesting my case is referred elsewhere.
The worst part of my visit was using the toilet in outpatient department B reception.....absolutely filthy.

As I've got older, particularly in this past year, all of my visits to Stepping Hill hospital I have been treated with the utmost care and skill, everyone that I have come into contact with have been fabulous. I've just read a comment on here about ENT, and how the person thought it was drab and miserable, NO IT IS NOT, a great team of people who have both allowed me to hear again with the issue of two hearing aids, but actually saved my life! Thanks guys. Peace and love. P.S. I support your fight against Hunt!

Whilst I applaud the good work all the staff do, Todays visit was ridiculously unecessary.

Had a phone call to advise my daughter had to have a CT scan (we knew she had to have one after her last consultation), so this was expected. I confirmed on the phone that it was a scan appointment and she said yes and could I confirm we would be able to attend.

We arrived at 10am. I know it was 30 mins early but we found a parking space easier than expected.

CT scan dept advised no appointment had been made for a scan (despite me confirming on telephone), the lady checked and said my daughter had a follow up consultation appointment (following up from the scan she Hasn t had and another test she Hasn t had). So we were sent right across to the other side of the hospital.

2.5 hours later we find out we hadn t needed to be here

Outpatient B reception is terrible and this all could have been avoided had they 2 hours ago listened to what we had try to tell them. Robotic and unprofessional.

I attended the hospital yesterday with my prearranged appointment and found the most helpful staff i have ever met ..First i met a nurse called Caroline who went out of her way to accommodate me she made phone calls that she didn't have to ...got me appointments that suited only me and made me feel i was the only one on there books ...what a nurse what a lady...she then got me a pre op that was not arranged for yesterday that when i attended met the second loveliest nurse called Liz who fill in forms for me made talked me through all the things about my pre op changed a lot of things just to accommodate me brilliant lady very professional as were the last two nurses Diane and sue who took blood and tested my heart unbelievable ....Caroline was in outpatients B and the other three lady's were in The Magnolia suit ....I know the N H S is under a lot of pressure at the moment i believe a lot is the public fault ..the numbers attending the hospital that don't need to is incredibly. ..but these peoplr look after us anyway ...overworked and underpaid TO ALL the people especially the politicians who knock the N H S theres no finer careing people in this world ...HOW VERY VERY LUCKY WE ARE .....

I have never come across staff with such a rude, disgusting attitude as the midwives at Stepping Hill.
Laughing at my wife whilst she was struggling in labour. Leaving her lieing in her own blood, even when I requested a clean sheet....
Disgusting, despicable and depraved is how I would describe those midwives.

It seems this hospital is yet again letting down an elderly man (my father) by keeping him waiting for an angiogram and a scan for a clot in his leg. He has been in hospital for almost 3 weeks and the angiogram was supposed to have been done week 1. This hospital needs to be shaken up or closed down. I am utterly disgusted by its treatment of the elderly. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER and make sure your patients are cared for in an appropriate manner regardless of their age.

I went with stabbing pains in kiddney and bad testical pain. Was given a ct scan and doc found no reason for pain. I was given pain killers and sent home. After 5 weeks off pain it got so bad I had to go back. A had a X-ray in A&E then sent to a ward they got my old ct scan and said there's boing to cause pain. After 3 days inside they said I should go home as had no reason for pain I said I was in agony still and someone must be able to find out why I was in such pain and was told no there is nothing anyone can do go home. I went home and put my pain problems in google it said trapped nerves in back. In the morning I booked myself in to a physio and within 30 seconds they said my back was in spasm and snapped my back in place. Why did the hospital not even have a clue I have spent 6 weeks in bad pain and 5 waisted days in hospital. You need to understand that pain can come from trapped nerves it could off saved lots off needed nhs funds and I would not have suffered in pain for weeks on end. Very disappointed with all involved. I had asked to be seen by pain management and they said I would have to be in pain for over 2 months and sent home and told to go back to gp. I said that was no good as the pain was to bad and would end up in A&E so glad that Google gave me the answer.

Absolutly joke of a so called maternity hospital.. a family members baby died due to midwives not doing there jobs properly.. fuming that we have lost a little life because of midwives leaving my family member and her unborn baby in distress.. they didn t even monitor her or the baby after she was induced.. we are absoloutly devestated that this has happened and now I ve just read in the news that this happened in jan last year.. but then it s happened again this year.. why is nothing being done!!! These are people s lives!!!!!

Jasmin suite is awful, confiscated my wife's medication because it wasn't prescribed by them which I understand. She missed so many pills because there was no doctor to prescribe any more. Monitoring by the staff involves asking for help and then the staff going back to desk and sitting on their phones. She asked to self discharge and we would go to a different A&E and suddenly we saw progress. Patient care and staff knowledge are bottom of the barrel on the jasmin unit

So today my girlfriend, who is 21 weeks pregnant with our first child is having her 20 week well being scan. This is where we would find out the health and also the gender of the baby

We live together in one household

My girlfriend is a teacher at a local school...

So here s the situation, I m not allowed into the scan even though I have no symptoms, and have used the nhs app for 2 months. So I m not there to know everything s ok or god forbid to support my partner if something isn t, I don t hear a heartbeat, I don t learn the gender..

But immediately after the scan.. my partner is allowed to go and teach 30 children from different households ??

I m simply at a loss

Was advised to go into A&E by Master call when I advised them I had suspect tonsillitis. Went in in the morning and waiting time was reported to be 1h30m. I was seen by triage within 10 mins and seen by a doctor and had bloods taken within 30mins. Saw a specialist shortly after and was advised I had quinzy and would be staying on. I was given fairly intensive care by the team on ward d1 and had intravenous antibiotics and painkillers thought the night. Amazing service and I felt like death when I walked in, felt much better leaving and now just a few hours later I feel like I was never ill.

Took my husband to A&E Friday afternoon with a temperature of 38.5. He was very poorly when I took him in. After being sat down for 2 1/2 hours a nurse said she d upgrade him. Another patient commented on how ill he looked she fetched him some water then not long after collapsed herself! I was rang at 9.30 pm requesting I collect him. He has myeloma cancer & his antibodies would ve been low.
Today I dropped him off at the laurel suite who said he d be admitted. After several hours he was taken to A&E. No x rays taken as promised
He s text me to say he can come home after 2 saline drips have been completed.
Absolute shambles that place.
