Beautiful historic building. Restaurant busy, small menu, but good food.

Beautiful historic building. Restaurant busy, small menu, but good food.
Very pleasant setting, too bad the waitress is forgotten for 20 minutes for an unfortunate glass of wine, which on occasion was undrinkable ...
Delicious Chinese restaurant!
Tasty and very hearty traditional dishes!
Fast and friendly service!
Outside it is 0 degrees and we are in the middle of the restaurant on the journey from the door that opens every few minutes. Furthermore, the food is very ordinary in terms of quality and the price is therefore too high. The fries were unfortunately cold, luckily we got a new hot version, but that didn't really help because it was just very greasy. I would not go there myself soon. Because there are certainly other nice tents that deliver much more for less.
I had the salmon and suffered most of the day with an upset stomach
In the middle of Amsterdam. If walls could talk. A historic place, where there is now a cozy restaurant. Respect for the candles policy.
Alight, but rather touristic. It's a historic landmark, but there are other places in Amsterdam worth your while.
With a large group of 20+ delicious food, with the choice of Meat, Fish or Vega.
All dishes were well received.
I found the Vega risotto very tasty, richly filled.
Good attentive service
Cozy, comfortable environment. Good service. Food ok, no fine dining.
Very small card. There is only soup and sandwiches. Sandwiches were delicious. Rather what in between. Ambience very nice and nice historical building. Staff was friendly. Well maintained toilets.
Cozy and nice. We visited this site where part of the chameleon tours route (guided tours in Spanish). Between talk and talk we went here to have a coffee. Carillo for Spain, 2.90 for tea and 3.30 for coffee with milk. As a curious tip, you can go to the bathroom without paying the corresponding fee and it is the first site in Europe where VAT began to be collected, a tax that the Duke of Spain created and will charge according to the weight of the merchandise. What an invention! :(
Beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff and great food!
Waiting 15 minutes for a drink when no one in the restaurant, decided to leave after 20 minutes in front of a dirty table and order food somewhere else, to avoid.
Beautiful ambiance. The place is also beautiful in the middle of the Nieuwmarkt. Just nice for a good coffee or lunch or drink. Nice staff too!
Great food, atmospheric, excellent food, friendly service, recommended
Very good service. The food was very delicious and prepared with affection and an eye to detail. 3 course menu for 2 persons with drinks inclusive: 93 . Would definately visit again!
Very good food and friendly staff. The only thing is that everything was very slow.
Excellent to hangout there and the place next door. Even get your hair cut in the Barber shop.
Loved this place! Friendly staff and the food was amazing.
Location is fantastic, building is impressive. Food, drinks and people are ok. Would be 5 stars if they would aim at people who are willing to pay more for nicer food.
The historical and heritage value of De Waag, and its immense beauty contrasted with the bad attention.
The food is relatively good, but all my expectations collapsed with the bad attention, and the improvised and mediocre service of the waiters.
I organized a working lunch, for a group of 20 people, thinking that it was a charming place. But I was wrong, what a shame!
All the magic, which encloses centuries of history, disappeared in one time for the ordinary way of serving. One of the worst experiences, I won't come back. Pity!
Located just in the center of A'dam in a beautiful building. Very warm atmosphere that reminds of 'old time'. The food is nice but it is a relatively expensive choice.
Expensive, small portions for Amsterdam. The meat is good, the salads are fresh. Grill sandwich - one bread, do not order it.
It is in a neighborhood of forced passage, the restaurant is very emblematic, its architecture looks like that of a castle with towers, the food is very good, and they have different varieties, the treatment is very affable. recommendable
A truly unique location in a castle-like atmosphere.
Neat staff and quality dishes.
Really worth a visit.
Everything was good: location, decoration, service, food and price. The mustard soup was a good pick
Lunch till 16, dinner from 17, only snacks in between...
The atmosphere is good and the staff are very friendly. The cakes and the lunch menu were very delicious.
A very interesting and historic site with fantastic coffee!
My heart is actually still thinking about the journey to South France, but I have already forced myself to move forward physically and mentally. I am going to the Netherlands tomorrow. This time, the specialty restaurant has a De Wagg restaurant in Amsterdam. This DeWagg is also known as St. Anthony's Gate. The gate of the city wall was built in 1488.After the city wall was removed, it was used as a city hall, museum, fire station, and even an anatomy theater. The anatomy theater is usually a room like an amphitheater with the center of the body. The table, which looks like a round, oval or octagonal ladder with a railing around it, allows students or other observers to stand and clearly see the anatomy. The background of Rembrandt's 1632 painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. Dr. Nicolaes Tulp's anatomy is said to be here.
Now it has been converted into a restaurant, and then we are going to dine here. Although the restaurant is written on the itinerary, I prefer the anatomy theater.
Very average. 36 for 1 soup as a starter (correct), then 1 beef burger that has neither the texture nor the taste and strawberries with yogurt .... Notice to amateurs.
A good fine dining experience. Limited menu and snobbish staff when they realized you want to order one course. After i finished they literally threw the bill in my face with a gesture to get out. The location is nice but not worth the money.
Edit - The Manager was apologetic and took responsibility for the sour experience. Honestly the fact that they took the time to reach out to an unhappy guest proves it does have quality. Will surely go back to try it one more time :)
Cool place, decent food, slow service. The seabass was excellent. Loved the 15th century building. Unfortunately I the service was really slow.
Service level nice view of the pedestrian zone downtown
The prices for our standard are huge.
We were here with the communication department of our company and there was a standard menu ready. Without a vega option, that is no longer possible? And my food and that of a few colleagues was so incredibly salty! So bad that after 2 bites I already had enough and was thirsty all evening. Worthless food. A real tourist trap! Of our entire team, nobody was really positive.
Excellent cuisine, attentive service, cozy atmosphere. Recommended!!!
Very expensive
Little to eat (small portion)
Poor quality price
Excessively long service
Menu for dinner few dishes. It is an expensive restaurant but it is not worth it.
Very good cuisine but with little variety. The restaurant very picturesque.
06/2020: Very heterogeneous experience, it was very nice at noon with cocktails on one day and the service was smart. The next evening we experienced the complete flop, the waitress had nothing in view, ran past umpteen times without really serving and the food was poorly snacked. The Caesar salad was inedible and paid 14 euros, a cheek. The fries for the burger were burned. No goodwill. Very pity and annoying for the last evening.
Well, I only was one time. The place is nice because of the location and building, the service was also nice but the food was really disappointing. ( Like really...) What happens with that? Amsterdam is full of restaurants so, I have many places to visit and discover before I think in a second chance for this place. I'm fact, the are some places really close by that I already know and that I really love
Food is pricey but good, would definitely recommend the 750g steak, however service is VERY slow, been sat in restaurant for 3 hours still have not had desert. There is cheaper food at similar level in areas which are more local in Amsterdam.
Very nice restaurant with a nice menu and delicious wines and beers. We often start with a drink and then have dinner. Lovely outside or inside in the beautiful decor!
Terrace at top location, young, smooth-looking staff. . . That looked promising! Unfortunately the service turned out to be extremely slow and uninterested, and the cappuccino (I remember 3 or even more) seemed to come from a cheap machine. really a letdown.
Food is above the average tourist rubbish and the service is best described as haphazard. Waving your fingers in front of me while talking to your colleague is not part of the service experience I was looking for.
Very very long service .... The food is good, too bad there is not much on the plate. Very expensive for the quantity served.
Food is good but portions are small. The staff aren't too smart on their feet and neglect large areas of the guests. That said, the decor is great with a fantastic location. It's worth going, just don't expect the service to match the good taste.
Far too expensive and staff can better do something else. Not professional and no sense of hospitality (hi, go and sit over there)
Poor service, mediocre food and ambiance. Would definitely not recommend. There are just too many other much better options in Amsterdam.
A real disaster the service!!! The food is nice! The food guy cannot coordinate with the wine guy so you never received your dish with your wine! Tooooo late every dish! Mistaken check! And essential bad cosr/service! Be careful!
It is worth it, the food, very good and the phenomenal setting, the staff very friendly. Phenomenal!!
Bad thing !!!! Customer is king they do not know !!! Just 1 word worthless ....
