Small theater in Chicago with a fantastic national reputation. We saw Lindiwe here, featuring Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The music was wonderful.

Purchasing tickets was easy and efficient.

The theater had great sound, and our front row seats meant that we didn't miss a thing. I would definitely attend another production here, especially if music as good as this play's is a part of the program.

The parking structure does not appear to be very sound, and is NOT handicapped accessible. They may be replacing it. It's certainly time!

Love the challenging work of the Steppenwolf and the gorgeous new Front Bar. Non-gendered bathrooms and a small food menu plus cocktails and wine and beer make this a great space. Warm, cozy, and cool.

I loved the play, Tribes! It was fantastically done here! It is not an enormously large theatre but a cozy, medium sized theatre which takes a large area of the block. The people are wonderfully helpful...They also had staff who knew sign language which i really appreciated. I suggest you get there early when you have your tickets since they had given mine away and we werent really late, which I was annoyed by because our seats were really excellent placed with a great view of the caption box.

The show was Dance Nation and was awesome. It was in a "theater in the round" type set up on the top floor. The whole production was amazing. Super powerful story and acting and funny. Theater staff were welcoming and helpful. And after there was a great discussion. I hope this play gets a long life with many people seeing it!

I love the small theater. I makes for an intimate setting. Same the man in the m*fer hat with Jimmy Smitts. It was a great play. I check on a regular basis to see what plays are next. I recommend this theater.

Steppenwolf has a mystique around it and is generally a great time. They pick the right shows for the current cultural moment, and even when, for example, a Tracey Letts play hits the wrong notes, the heart of the institution is in the right place. Newly renovated bar/coffee shop is a beautiful new gem. So easy to get to from the red line. Great area and vibe for some great theater.

A true Chicago gem. Chicago is a theatre town and this is the definition of Chicago Theatre. With the amazingly talented ensemble and innovative and new work, you are sure to have an experience at this theatre. Also, you never know who you might see on stage....a movie star or two have been known to grace this stage.

Ground-breaking theater company takes risks and delivers. Wonderful theater spaces with no bad seats. Well-and un-known actors will change your ideas about what's possible in theater, or make you a theater person is you're not one. I've been a subscriber for almost 30 years. Tons of memories and zero regrets.

The Steppenwolf is still my favorite theater in Chicago. They host great plays with terrific home town talent. I don't always love every play but that is the nature of theater. As a place to sit and watch a 3 hour play, it is very comfortable.

An avid theater-goer, this is one of my favorite stomping grounds. And I'm literally about an hour away.
Still, so worth the trip. They consistently bring to life the most
thought-provoking, if not entertaining, productions. The scripts (and they are diverse, rich & unfailing discerning about putting on the work of the FINEST & complex playwrights, both new & old) are compelling, colorful narratives---thankfully, placed into the hands of some of the top actors in our fine city, so nary do they have a miss. I can't wait to continue to see what they do next. And yes, sadly, I will once again sit in HORRIBLE traffic to get there, just the cost of heading to the North side of the city where, fortunately, MAGIC awaits me. Yes, often enough it's such a hassle to get around to the north side of the city from the south 'suburbs that I get distressed on the drives.... but afterward, there's never any residual thought in my mind that it might not be worth it. Just know... of course it is! Open yourself up, make that effort (if FAR like me), you will not be disappointed. oh and Yes, culture matters! I tell everyone as often as I can & it's true (probably coining Chris Jones!).....Chicago literally has the BEST small storefront theater scene than in all the country (well OK....this isn't "storefront" but be very aware, those are often hidden gems, as well). Don't miss out!! Your mind can & is often transformed by GREAT theater if you allow yourself to experience it ---often & FULLY!

Great atmosphere, very contemporary feel. I was here for the play Straight White Men. It was a great play. The actors were very good. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is a bar serving hot, non-alcoholic drinks, wine and beer. Not expensive.

Best cutting edge theatre company in Chicago. The ensemble list is a who's who of the most aclamed actors in the business. On top of that, the actual theatres offer top notch experiences for the audience.

Fantastic space in a really lively area! The productions done here are always so inventive, thoughtful and engaging. I don't get here often but when I do, it's such a great treat! Just finished seeing A Dolls house part 2. Enjoyed it immensely! Get here when you can.

I came to see The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time and was not disappointed to say the least. The moment I steeped into the theatre I was mesmerized by the contemporary insides and the atmospheric lighting. The performance was nothing short of fantastic with incredible acting although I did find the final questions segment just a bit cringeworthy.

My husband and I love going to this theatre. It is one of our favorites in Chicago. We like to get the red card, which is $100 for 6 tickets to any show. I highly recommend going to a show here, you will not be disappointed!

The facility is great. Easy to get around, nice bar and eating area. The ticket box attendees were nice and thorough. The play was odd. I felt nothing most of the time for the characters. The vernacular was inappropriate for the time period.

Everyone under the age of the 30 should take advantage of the Red Card... I've been to two shows so far and couldn't be more impressed with the talent Steppenwolf continues to get. I highly recommend. Very reasonably priced for what you get.

There's not a bad seat in the house here, it's a big theater but manages to feel very intimate. They have three spaces, the main floor, the upstairs and the garage -- the garage is more of a black box space, but the other two theaters are modern and well appointed. Clean bright lobby and they also have an extensive bar. They're across the street from some excellent places to each, you really can't go wrong on that stretch of Halsted.
