I am an employee for Statewide Protective Services...

I am an employee for Statewide Protective Services, and this is the best security company I've worked for. They gave me a regular site to guard to ensure I got the hours I needed for my family. Even though this is true, they will work around my schedule if anything comes up with my newborn daughter, and still try to give me the most hours they can. They offer over 10 different training classes to broaden your experience and certifications as a security officer, or special police officer. Currently, I have my security clearance and license-to-carry, and I'm certified to use O.C. spray, extendable batons, and handcuffs. I am thinking of taking the DC Special Police program in the future. This truly is a great company that will help you grow and improve.
There are people that have posted Google reviews with low ratings stating that they were automatically hired following the armed guard training but weren't given any hours. This is because it is MD law that in order for you to have a license-to-carry, you need to be employed by a law enforcement organization, corrections organization, or a security agency. If you have a lapse in employment at one of these types of agencies for a certain amount of time, the State of Maryland will take away your license-to-carry.
Statewide Protective Services tells you this when they inform you that they've automatically hired you. This allows you to pay for training at a very low price (it was a discounted fee of $200 for the armed guard training when I took it) and take the certifications to another agency if you so choose. You have to let them know that you want to actually work for Statewide and if you actually want to work for Statewide and you are hungry for the hours, they have them for you! So, the people who are complaining about not actually getting work didn't pay attention during the training, or they would've learned Statewide is employing you so that you don't waste your money taking the class to certify, and then lose it anyway.

I wish I could go negative stars. No one is on the same page at this company. They will give you a run around, say they are hiring, but are reluctant to give you an assignment. They are just around to take your money and only give you work when they feel like it (as it appears to be). I have worked for a small unarmed security company that was tremendously more organized and willing to help it's employees than this company. Don't waste your time or money.

An awesome experience with Statewide Protective Services. I've taken the following classes with Statewide: Armed Guard Class, and DC Special Police.

Both classes were presented in a very organized and easy to learn environment. I was definitely nervous during the range qualification section in both classes. The instructors I had in each class made sure I was more than comfortable. To be totally candid, I do not think I would have passed both of my range qualification test if it wasn't for the awesome instruction I received.

I highly recommend this security training company! Statewide Protective Services!

Thanks,

Bryan

This company is totally bogus...I'm highly upset, you take the class with the promise of placing you and there's no guarantee of this at all.
Furthermore trying to get your licenses for your gun permit after you complete their course is sheer hell.
Apparently it's a phantom company, because they're saying they're too busy to receive your calls...Really??????
They say they only accept texts, but never replies to them.
What kind of agency is that...especially the customer service part of it.
I'll be telling anyone who would listen how incompetent y'all are..

I did a lot of research with the other local security training companies before deciding to go with Statewide Protective services. After taking the security guard class and armed guard class, I was very pleased with my decision. Their rates for their classes are competitive if not better than all the other security firms. The instructors go out of their way to make sure you understand the materials presented in both classes. I was a tad nervous at the shooting range to qualify for my carry permit. My instructor(Brian) made sure I was more than conferrable and I passed with flying colors. I really doubt the other local training companies would have assisted me as much as Brian did! Best of all, I now have a job with all the hours I want with Statewide.

If you are looking for a professional security training company with instructors that know the most up to date materials, Statewide Protective Services is the company you will want to go with.

I will be taking their DC Special Police class next week and can't wait!

I got on board with Statewide when they were just getting started and have been with them for over a year now. Their training was excellent and I felt comfortable going to work with the skills they taught me. I had to wait several months for my hand gun permit to come back. That has everything to do with the Maryland State Police, and nothing to do with Statewide, once the forms are submitted it is out of their hands.

Statewide provides security at my local bank Point Breeze Credit Union. Their officers are always polite and look very professional. I feel very safe while I am there and am glad the bank has gone the extra step to make their clients feel safe.

Great place. I've received my handgun permit to carry, HQL and my security guard card. They also let you work for them while you wait for all the paperwork to go through. I look forward to more work with them.

This is one of the only places still around that does these types of training. That because they know the rules and are happy to help. If you can read, then you will understand the States set the licensing process, not Statewide. Tired of hearing people cry when they don't read the FAQs or expect to be hired just for taking classes. That is absurd.

I work for SWPS & must say I am Happy with everything I have seen. I took my Maryland Armed guard through them and the training was Great! the instructor was knowledgeable & helpful. I've been working non-stop since I began averaging 44 hours a week. I'm not sure what the negative reviewers went through but I would suggest calling the office & speaking with someone to form your own opinion.

I took the gun permit training in August. Went through the whole process of paying for the class, gun range time, getting my fingerprints done, passport photos, money order for application fee. Next thing you know they tell me that in order to be sponsored and for them to send in my application that I have to work for them. So I'm like ok and now every time I call them to get a schedule and my uniform they always have an excuse. How is it that you don't have anymore uniforms? How is it that you say you have hours but yet when I call for a schedule your still waiting to hear back from your clients? It sounds shady to me. As a result, my fingerprints expired (which they tell you you have to do all this within 30 days of getting your fingerprints done). Now, I've wasted $450 total because they couldn't deliver. DO NOT TAKE THE CLASS OR WORK FOR THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE OUT TO GET YOUR MONEY!

I had a really bad experience with these guys. They are never in the office and never answer the phone. I purchased the $425.00 MD Armed Security Guard package deal and was told they would help take care of everything to get your wear and carry/ HQL licenses. MSP rejected the application because they refused everyone sponsor letters because their contracts were terminated for unarmed security guards a few months back before we signed up for the course but they definitely told everyone in the class something completely different and refuse to refund the money.
