I volunteer at Starkey and have had many opportunities to be involved with the persons served along with the staff. Starkey is doing a wonderful job providing a caring environment where people are respected and nurtured.
This Company has some staff that is verbally abusive towards the residents. I personally have seen some of the abuse & informed the management, which was a joke. They didn't do anything and kept the staff employed. I noticed they over use medication on some of the residents instead of doing their job. Management is rude and unhelpful, the company has a lot of issues that needs to be addressed! Unfortunately this is not a good facility for people who cant speak up.
We appreciate this place recycling electronics. We had quite a bit in they unloaded everything for us.
I have had several friends and former students who were supported and cared for by Starkey. Their employees and staff work very hard to ensure that the clients are set up to be successful. Not only do I feel like the employees and staff do a good job at caring for the individuals, they also do an amazing job at teaching them how to be more independent.
I have volunteered here multiple times and I absolutely love it! The staff was very welcoming to all the volunteers. I have volunteered at many organizations in the past who work with individuals with disabilities, but I was very impressed with the way this staff works with these amazing individuals!
Starkey is helping a population of our community to which many people don't often give much thought. The team is hard-working, passionate and committed to the success of the people they serve. They're truly improving the lives of their clients in tangible, meaningful ways - and that's pretty awesome to see.
Starkey is a reputable non-profit organization that supports over 500 individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. They provide supports in the home, with what people want to do during the day, be that leisure activities or work, with health services, transportation, and case management. Starkey runs a fiscally responsible budget, while still providing outstanding services, and a goal to provide the best pay possible in the field.
I worked there, I advise everyone to stay away. The staff is known to take advantage of the person served. I went above and beyond for my persons served and I got terminated because my new boss decided she wanted to have a power move to show she was in charge. And unfortunately Kansas is a right to for state. The management is always changing cuz they can't get the job done and leave it on the staff to do what they can't do. I literally could go on. Just stay away
Inadequate care of residents. The staff is condescending towards the family. I highly do NOT recommend this company to care for your loved one.
Terrible place to work, I was fired for needing a tampon. Staff is very rude.
