Food was nothing like the old Stagecoach Inn restaurant used to serve. Food was bland and honestly not very good for what you pay for. Server was great but that was about the only positive of the experience.

These precious people couldn t do enough to help us during the whallop of a storm Feb 21.
We had water, electricity and compassionate communication throughout our extended stay. In a time of crisis, they continued to help by making yummy food in the restaurant and checking on our needs. Southern hospitality at its finest. Need I say more

We went for dinner. The fried pickles, shrimp, and salmon were excellent and the restaurant gave off a romantic impression. It was slightly pricey for the amount of food, but the ambiance was worth it.

The Stagecoach Inn hotel and restaurant is a very inviting place. The customer service is phenomenal, and the food is outstanding. I would highly recommend this place for couples and families.

Newly remodeled, has a very funky retro feeling. Service was good and the roo.s were nice. Did not like that you could not drive to your room. The lighting in the rooms is terrible.

Y'all this is an amazing gem! Stayed at the Inn with hubs and 6 year old. We all enjoyed the property and special touches. It's an excellent amalgamation of history and modern amenities. Salado is quite fortunate to have this treasure in the village and it will surely continue to surpass standards of hospitality for a few more centuries.

We really enjoyed our stay at this iconic hotel. They work hard to give the patron good experience. We only had a couple of comments:1) the a/c led must which affected my allergies & asthma & 2) the chairs on the pass KFC were dirty & extremely uncomfortable. The pool was fabulous. They are still working on improvements, so the pool bar isn't open yet. We ate at the restaurant & the food was phenominal!! The manager gave us some history about it & flowers us to walk around both upstairs & downstairs. They are really working to make this a top notch hotel & really more of a destination place. I think you will like it. The upstairs have balconies & downstairs has a garden are in which to sit. I recommend giving it a chance.

For the prices, the food is not good. The service was questionable as well. There was a loud table in the back room that was talking so loud, we couldn t hear each other at the table. After saying something to the waiter, nothing was said or acknowledged. The environment was pretty nice but it seems as if Stagecoach is trying to hard to appeal to wealthy out-of-towners. When you such a small menu, your food needs to be amazing. We had checked fried steak, catfish, and beer can chicken. Not one meal was finished. It s sad that such an old staple to the area has lost their roots. I hope they can take the feedback and make improvements as we will end up losing another Salado business.

Liked the surroundings a lot. Food overall was pretty good but a bit pricey. Beer can chicken was very good but it was a tiny half a chicken. Could use some signage on main street. We found the sign and the closed gate right off the highway confusing.

This was a food experience. The people were wonderful. The service was a little erratic but they were close to closing and trying to wrap up eveything. This was our first meal for our 5th Anaversary weekend trip and we could not have picked it better. The atmosphere was wonderful. Even the light show from the storm was fantastic in the windows. My wife and I had the hushpuppys and Tee Bread which were fantastic with the honey butter spread. The house salad was perfect allowing you to taste all the components without overpowering any of them. My wife had the SCI Burger With The Works. It was good and the Steak Fries with smoked Ketchup were perfect. I had the prime rib. It was so good, and the potatos were excellent as well. I love this place.

Came back for breakfast it was fantastic.

The reopening has yielded a new gentrified Stagecoach Inn. A bar, and a cleaner more contemporary space. The menu is new and updated. There are throwbacks to the original menu.

While original recipes might still be in use for some of the original items the execution isn t there. Hushpuppies which used to be complimentary yielded perfectly symetrical logs heavily salted. And barely enough butter to butter one and a half of the order.

They made the unfortunate choice of using tables with metal tops. While durable they are rather noisy.

The chicken fried steak was thick and rather tasteless. The gravy also had no taste. Mashed potatoes and green beans were fresh and tasty.

The barbecue fries which were meant to be a side dish showed up as an appetizer. They were fries with chili powder and slightly seasoned ketchup. Proportions of condiments to food is incongruent.

The hamburger ordered medium yielded a well done patty on a brioche bun with a strange combination of greens cheese and tomato jam that could have been served on the side. The potato chips were an okay side included but the fries would have been a better choice.

Based on the execution of the hushpuppies original recipe we opted not to try the original strawberry kiss.

For the people who remember this as a treat and traditional it is no longer traditional it has got a new look and feel. The charm is gone. It will be a disappointment to those who remember what it was. For new comers it is a tweaked up version of something gentrified in a historic space. The expansion and renovation will bring a new clientele I wish them luck. I don t know that I ll return. I liked it the way it was frozen in time. But apparently others didn t agree and that s why it closed. So, I may be in the minority.

It was the same wonderful place I remembered from my birthday visit many years ago. The wait staff was fabulous! The food was delicious. It was a pleasure to stop for breakfast as we were traveling.

Love the updated remodel! Staff was excellent and the food reminded me of meals in the past but with excellent up grade as well! Definitely will make plans to come again when I am in the area.

Very nice stay. The people who worked here were awesome. The person running the place during my stay seemed very busy and was running back and forth and had people waiting to register but for the most part I loved my stay. I do wished local food wasn't so scarce and closed down early.

One of our favorite places here close by. Tracie and I had our honeymoon here at the Inn in 1983. We recently rediscovered it and here tonight at the restaurant for her birthday. It was fantastic!!

Very attentive waitress. However the atmosphere is lacking. Felt more like a sports bar. TV was a distraction. Food was good but pricey. And you definitely need to bring back the original hush puppies!!

We stayed here for 1 night on the way back from Padre Island and I loved the ambiance and the staff was so great and the accommodations were better than other hotels we have stayed in. The dinner was good and only wish we had a chance to visit the winery and local businesses too.

I chose Stagecoach because I remembered how the food and service was prior to their reopening. It was very disappointing. The food was mediocre at best, the furnishings were uncomfortable and there was absolutely no ambiance of the previous restaurant.
This evening was supposed to be a celebration for my husband and was such a disappointed.

Nice relaxing, quiet place to relax. Wood floors, nice decor, felt like I was sitting at Grandma's house eating lunch. Although grandma never served sandwiches like these. We will definitely be going back to try something else on the menu.

The room and grounds were clean and appealing. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room came equipped with customary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash; along with boutique hand soap and lotion. The decor was a laid back rustic, but the furnishings were new and not drab. It was comfortable and cozy. The bathroom was designed with old-style fixtures, but it was new and clean. Great lighting! There were multiple plugs all around the room, along with USB chargers on each side of the bed. The beds were comfortable. We had a private balcony with chairs that over-looked the grounds (unfortunately, it was a bit loud being so close to the highway).
We ate breakfast at the restaurant, and it was tasty, but a bit pricey. It was right on Main Street, so we just walked off the grounds and down the street to shop.
If I could change anything, it would be to add breakfast tickets to the reservation (there are so many bed and breakfast places close by), and a refrigerator would be nice to keep drinks in. Also, it was a bit on the expensive side - perhaps it was because we came during the Salado Stroll weekends, but I stay in a B&B in Salado at least once a year, and the cute cottage I stay in is cheaper than the bedroom 2 beds I stayed in at Stagecoach Inn.
We will probably book here again for the Stroll next year since my B&B fills up 2 years in advance for the Stroll weekends, and I know this place is great. I d rather stay somewhere I know/like than risk it on a new place.

we had 3 prime rib. One was med rare, one was med and one was well done. Should have been rare to med rare..soggy chicken fried steak. Wait staff needs some personality and more attentive to guest needs ..Has a lot of potential. The desserts were fantastic.

Had a wonderful time there with my wife there for our honeymoon. Stagecoach is a nice blend of past meets modern. The rooms are separate, so it wont feel too crowed. The rooms were so cleaned and refreshing. The scenery outside our patio of the pool was so nice. The service was top notch and the use of local vendors for toiletries is a refreshing treat in itself . the inn has a lavish restaurant in the front where the food was appealing and fulfilling.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I was a little shocked that for a Central Texas restaurant with roots back to 1860 that there was so little red meat on the menu. Why serve frozen salmon when you COULD be serving fresh beef? Started with the 1861 hushpuppies. Good, but a little over-salted (common in Central Texas- people here tend to equate salt with flavor on everything). Hamburger was a let-down: pre-formed, frozen patties. Also tried the pimento cheese, which is mislabeled on the menu. It is a GRILLED pimento cheese; nowhere is it described as "grilled" on the menu. Pimiento cheese filling was very bland, not a zing or hint of flavor to be found. Dessert was the peach cobbler, another menu mislabeling. It is not a cobbler, it's apple crisp with peaches substituted for apples. Still, it was the highlight of the meal.

We hosted a very small family gathering here for my brother s engagement party, in one of their private rooms. If I could give the food, staff, safety, and space more than 5 stars, we would!! Jacob and Jayme were EXTREMELY helpful during the pre-planning of the party with taking preorders and showing us how the room could be decorated. During the party, they wore masks and gloves and provided outstanding customer service. They made our guests feel welcome and safe. I can t speak highly enough of them and the delicious food and drinks we enjoyed. Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful space to host our family dinner.

Great for a romantic date or a celebration with friends. It's got old fashioned southern dishes with a daily 4 course Menu in a quaint white plantation house - it's like a step back in time. They recently moved to 416 s. Main Street so don't trust the current address on Google. The Tomato Aspic (a salty tomato jelly) they are famous for and is a must try for adventurous eaters. Great wine list and cocktails. This place is baby friendly and they have spacious single person bathrooms with baby changing tables.

This place has been a rest stop since before the stagecoach was invented. I used to visit it as a kids and remember how wonderful the restaurant was. They're finishing up a massive renovation and I was really pleased to see that the restaurant is updated and they kept some of the original menu items too. Food and service was wonderful. I look forward to visiting again after the renovations are completed.
