Service here is excellent. The food is good and I love that the building has a long history.

I miss the old traditional menu and furnishings. We had the chicken fried steak, which was good and was one of the few items offered. I won't be going back...
Came with a large group. Felt like we were sitting in on a weird "time share" meeting trying to get us to stay at their inn. The buffet style meal they catered was cold, dried out and way over priced. $24.95 for a half attempt of a nacho bar. The queso was watery and not appetizing. Should have been more like $9.95. On the plus side, the wait staff were nice and the facility was nice.
Excellent food, which reflected in the price. Nice atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff. Reservations suggested...
I went to a rehearsal dinner here and the staff was exceptionally attentive. The restaurant is beautifully quaint and the food was really good.
Gorgeous trees. Great meeting room at the restaurant.
The food here is very tasty, but don't expect a cheap meal. Service was very attentive and prompt. The historicity of this place is one of its most compelling attributes.
The Tradition is gone (So Sad) After being a regular visitor on Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, and other special occasions, the unbelievable has happened all of the special things that made The Stagecoach Inn Restaurant special are now gone.
Half Grilled Pimento Cheese Sandwich is now one of the Main Courses? It is served with Banana Fritters that have no flavor. First time I have ever seen one left on our table.
Prepare for smaller portion sizes and higher prices, more like a click establishment you would find in a big city not like a small historical city like Salado. I think the beer and wine is more important than the food.
Service we very slow and food was cold. Wish I could say more good things but my on my Strawberry Kiss meringue was so hard I could not eat it. Was worried about breaking a tooth.
Maybe you should change your name to more meet the type of establishment you are looking to become and let someone open back up the real The Stagecoach Inn Restaurant.
Made our comment to a manager but could tell he didn't give a hoot. Funny thing is another guest eating there called us over and told us thanks for saying something their meal was disappointing too.
We were here on work detail and had the pleasure of lodging here..The look is of an old Western setting, a nice little hotel nestled off of 35..The chicken fried steak was very good.
Along with regular trips off-shore, my wife and I are day trippers in the Hill Country of Texas. There are dozens if not more places you can be at with an hour or so that give you a glimpse of the history and culture of Central Texas. One such place is small community just north of us called Salado. It mean salty in Spanish and its proper pronunciation is Sal-ah-doh. There are no Long As in Spanish. This however is Texas and Texans have their own way pronouncing things, so correct diction aside, this community is called Sal do (notice the macron over the , which tells the reader it requires the long sound.
There are several places to eat in this small community, but one such place has considerable history to it, The Stagecoach Inn. Before I get too far into this I need to clarify that this review is about the restaurant, not the inn itself. Right on the main drag (416 Main Street) it is well signed and easy to find. The presently restored building was originally rebuilt in in 1943, but later and more recent upgrades give it all of the modern amenities while preserving the look of a much older structure. Step in an you will find a cozy and spacious B&B-like atmosphere that includes a warm fireplace, rocking chairs, barn-beam ceilings, wood floors, and many nice accents that tell you that you are somewhere other than a fast-food.
We arrived early for brunch and were seated immediately, but as our time in the restaurant progressed, customers began arriving and tables began filling up. The single-sided lunch menu (which I personally appreciate its uncomplicated easy-read style) provides traditional Texas fare like Hushpuppies, Snack & Starters, Eggs & Plates which include items like Buttermilk Waffles, Pull Pork Eggs Benedict, Salmon, Salads, and Sandwiches. For starters, we chose the Tea Bread which consisted of 6 miniature muffins with whipped honey butter. We were off to a good start.
For lunch, I opted for the Sandwich Special and found it to be a delightful treat for my taste buds. Generous layers of juicy sliced Prime Rib, served on Texas Toast, accented with a house-made honey mustard dressing, just the right amount of Parsley Salad layered on top of the dressing, tobacco onions and a perfect amount of cheddar cheese. It arrived with an ideal portion of homemade potato chips. My wife ordered a salad of fresh Field Greens and added the rather substantial grilled shrimp.
Dessert was offered, but we declined and chose their very-good freshly made coffee, but the menu consists of very reasonably priced items such as the Strawberry Kiss, Chocolate and Butterscotch Brownie, Peach Cobbler and Chess Pie (check the on-line menu for this one). Also found are a selection of smaller items for only $2.00 called Dessert Bites.
The restaurant has clean, modern and retro-deco ADA Compliant bathroom facilities, easy and spacious parking, is ramp equipped, and also sports a banquet room and kitchen that can handle anything from a large wedding party to a couple just stopping in for lunch. For those who want something other than coffee, there is a bar inside to slake your thirst. Stop by on your way north or south on Interstate 35. Easy off ramps in either direction will have you pulling into the parking lot in minutes, and then another set of on-ramps will speed along your way. You won t regret it.
Nice guy that checked us in. Kinda far to walk to rooms. But really nice room
I grew up traveling through Salado and the stopping point for us was always a stop at Stagecoach Inn for lunch. Some items from the past that were just gratuitous are now priced per serving. Everything seems to be a la carte for the most part. Also some traditional recipes seem to have been "improved upon", but our palates were not really impressed with the changes. The updating to the hotel was still in progress when we were in Salado, so we stayed somewhere else. We will go back but be better prepared for the price increases at the restaurant and differences in menu items. Still a lovely place to stop.
There are a few things. This is not a cheap place to stay by any means, but you aren't able to park near your room (and some people don't like golf carts or waiting for someone to take you around), there is black tarp up everywhere (the whole place just looked ugly), when my keys wouldn't work, I went to the office and had to wait 5 minutes with my mom and 5 year old standing in the cold because the 2 people in the office were on the phone (one was clearly a personal call), and the room was very dusty. The bathroom door doesn't close, the temperature of the water in the shower is either hot or boiling, and the tile floor with no rug or anything is cold. It just wasn't what I was hoping for after MANY years of visiting this place as a child. It is NOT worth the money. I was very hopeful that new owners and improvements would mean this would be a beautiful memory for our family. I think we will stick with our old memories of an amazing place for the whole family with things for all ages, convenience, luxury, the cute cafe on site, and reasonable prices. I'm sad about the changes being made and that it wasn't even a pretty place to stay in such a beautiful town.
Best service ever! Will be back because of Cailtin Trentin
We always stay at the here when we go to Salado. The rooms have always been clean and the staff are very friendly and seem like home town people. The rates are also excellent. It may not be a B&B but it is affordable and clean and I will continue to stay here each year when we come.
Didn't stay at the hotel. We went for the Thanksgiving buffet. We knew it was expensive and figured that it would be worth it. Sadly it was not. The food was fine but nothing special. On Thanksgiving I also expect more than rice krispies treats for dessert. They automatically added an 18% tip on the bill, for a buffet. We saw our server 3 times the entire time. We'll go back to the Hilton Garden Inn from now on. We were disappointed to put it mildly.
Over priced and very few of the dishes that made them famous. Just like all the new restaurants, same trendy attempts, but lacks any real flavor or heart. So sad.
