It is a very interesting historical building to appreciate performing arts. I came here to see NDT dance performance. Considering the contemporary dance setting, it would be better if the stage is a bit bigger. So I will say it fits better for operas and maybe smaller concerts. For seating, even balcony seats offer pretty decent view (just avoid the side in general).

Superb building and theater. Nice opportunity to drink coffee. The service was fine but what was very annoying: I had already paid but no receipt. When we got up to leave, another waitress had arrived. She then asked casually if we had already paid and she looked like we wanted to walk away without paying. I think that's pretty unprofessional. The other servant knew that we had paid, but if she had not known, I would not have had a receipt as proof. I would advise to always give customers a voucher (from now on I ask for it) and in case of doubt, to consult the colleague before you accuse the customer of not paying because that is how it happened. I had a bad aftertaste from my visit. Normally I only give one star, but because I've been fine here before, I'll just stick to an incident by an unskilled and inexperienced bed worker.

One of the most beautiful buildings in Amsterdam. Even in the chaos and bustle of the city, it is impossible to go unnoticed by him. A classic like everything in the craziest city in Europe.

Cozy theater. Last been to Lubach. Unfortunately, 30% of the room does not see the projection screen. This means that storyline is sometimes less easy to follow. Room spaces give the most fun!

The location has great sound quality with both Concerts and Performances. Theatre restaurant is comfortable. Would advise to visit a local cocktail lounge on Leidseplein afterwards. Google has an accurate display of Upcoming Events on their Overview page in Maps. Be sure to order your tickets in advance.

Fine theater. Today went to ballet (Pearl). Nice room, some tight benches on the shack. The only downside is that fifteen minutes after the start people still came in with relatively too much noise, not by themselves but the floor. In fact, it would be nice not to admit people after starting. Nice room, good acoustics, nice staff and nice bar. Top location in the middle of the city.

Beautiful location. The city theater is easily accessible by public transport. Easy to reach from the central station. Programming is good. It is recommended to arrange tickets relatively on time. Few last minute reservations. There are special deals for students. Would recommend going here for a night out.

Was a bit disappointed when I got halfway through a show and realised it was an actual theatre. Took me about an hour to clock on that it wasn't just a bit tame. The staff were very nice and kindly pointed me in the direction of the nearest 'theatre'

Tram lines 1, 2 and 5 start at Amsterdam Central Station (a ca.10 minute ride from there) and stop at Leidseplein, as do tram lines 7 and 10 (ca.7 minutes from Underground station Weesperplein). There you will also find bus lines 170, 171, 172 and the all-night bus services 72, 73, 74 and 78. With a ticket for the Stadsschouwburg one can use trams, city buses and metro for free. From 3 hours before starting time until 4 hours after finishing time of the performance (in case of evening performances until the last normal ride of that evening)

Already at the approach to the very beautiful historical building one recognizes the tradition inherent in it. And you can already feel the spirit of art and artists.

The service is friendly and fast. The prices are moderate and the food was great.

Who plans a theater visit, then gives his wardrobe free of charge in safe storage.

Then it goes up into the actual foyer. There you can wait with a last drink for the beginning of the performance and marvel at the works of art on the walls.

In fact, all the corridors and lounges are equipped with pictures and wall decorations. The way to the theater seat is like an art gallery.

When you finally sit in the auditorium, the flood of senses continues. The room is just fantastic. The guest feels relegated by a hundred years back in time.

The room is high and round. As a result, all viewers are very close to the action. We were lucky enough to sit in the first row, where you can look at the music on the sheet music.

The stage itself is - invisible to the viewer - equipped with the latest technology.

In summary, this theater is an infinite recommendable experience for theater and opera lovers or for those who are not yet. After the visit, they are very likely.

Thanks for a great evening.

Especially suited for non Dutch speaking. You can follow with surtitles. It can be a bit distracting to read and not being able to follow the scene but we grew use to it and we still managed to enjoy quite a few plays

Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam: A Cultural Hub in the Heart of Amsterdam

If you're looking for a cultural experience in the heart of Amsterdam, look no further than Stadsschouwburg Amsterdam. Located on Leidseplein, one of the most famous entertainment districts in the Netherlands, this theater is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in theater, dance, music or comedy.

Over the years, it has evolved into one of the most important cultural institutions in the city. Today, it hosts over 500 performances each year and attracts more than 300,000 visitors annually.

Another thing that makes Stadsschouwburg unique is its commitment to sustainability. The theater has implemented numerous eco-friendly initiatives such as using LED lighting throughout the building and sourcing local food products for their restaurant.

Whether you're a local resident or visiting Amsterdam from abroad, a visit to Stadsschouwburg should be at the top of your list if you want to experience some truly world-class culture. With so many different types of performances on offer throughout the year – from opera to stand-up comedy – there's always something new and exciting happening at this iconic venue.
