St. Stephen's is a good resource to know about. They are very helpful...
About 5 years ago I went through St. Stephens housing program - and yes they covered the rent in my apartment on Pillsbury Ave near Nicollete and the utilities as well. I could have stayed there indefinitely with no restrictions and they take a portion of what you make if you work and put it in a savings account to build up money for when you leave to be able to cover your own deposits and what not when your on your feet. It was super easy to get into as long as I followed the instructions given me - I projected I would only need the help for two years before being able to go on my own but accomplished all my goals in a year and one month - then I passed the torch to someone else who needed the help. To me this program is absolutely invaluable! They truly changed my life - I seriously don t know what I would have done without them. The staff - the procedures and explanation of those procedure was amazing - my case worker (Tyler) was an amazing woman as well. I believe if your intentions are honorable - and you go into it with every intention on working hard and following the criteria given you that it will all work in your favor - I know a lot of people use systems like this and plant roots in the system - very sad. Because for every person that does that - many more are suffering that could really use this program. At.Stephens was amazing and I am sure still are amazing. Thanks guys! And God bless!
The staff were understanding and polite and kept my business confidential

**WOULD HAVE BEEN 5 STARS, BUT THEY TOOK $500 OF MY MONEY!! READ ON!**If you are forced into homelessness and other situations and are willing to make the effort to find a decent place, then this place is worth your time. I lived 2 different places through St. Stephen's. One was in Minneapolis close to resources and another was in Maple Grove. The place I had in Maple Grove was very nice and I stress that you must be willing to look to find decent housing. But if you do you will be rewarded for your effort.
That being said, they may take your money at St. Stephen's. I worked with Brandon Sanford and several others. The first place I lived there were no problems and when I moved out I received my damage deposit. The second place I lived, the damage deposit was taken out of my already meager monthly monies for 3 separate months to pay the damage deposit as there were delays with county assistance. I was told that this money would be returned to me. But when I moved out of the place and needed the $500 deposit, I was told I would NOT be receiving it. As I was already scraping by because of $$ being taken out of monthly, moving out of state with $500 would have helped a lot. Brandon Sanford's excuse was that if they ran the program this way then everyone would move in to places and immediately move out to get the $500. Despite their word being given, and my dire need, hr chose not to return my money! Shame on you Brandon! You left me hanging when I needed cash the most. Plus I moved to a place where it is hard to get tight fisted people to give up cash. As an indirect result I am still homeless over two and a half years later! Had I he $500 to immediately move into somewhere I may have had better luck. But as it stands I am forced to be homeless and the lack of cash made this happen much quicker.
*Thanks go out to LeRoyce Walker and Lisa at the front desk!! : ) *

They are very awesome people that help the homeless
This organization does so much for so many people. I was homeless when I first arrived in MN and now I am a full-time employee. They supported me every step of the way through all of the good, bad, and ugly. Truly a wonderful organization.
Friendly knowledgeable staff that really help you not be homeless anymore!
Leaders in the community in the fight to end homelessness.
Very helpful people who are willing to help you out.
Caring, longstanding organization doing extremely important work. Thank you, St. Stephen's!
It's a great place to recieve help when you're homeless and in need of a place too stay!!!!!!!!
It s a wonderful community service that house individuals and families
Love Laura G she is the best and so freaking AMAZING
They was aways good too me just takes time to get stuff done
They like to threaten people and rip them off. I have heard they make people owe them and they don't tell them why or nothing.
They buy new cars for them selfto. Plus they go though workers left and right

The most caring people who do this out love working to end homelessness. They helped me and my family find housing
I saw some outreach workers (the same lady in the picture) in a parking lot where a homeless man once was. Not one time did someone come and look for him while he was out there. They had some cards and the lady threw in a pile of trash and laughed while the other male worker put the card on the gate.
been going here for years with help with legal and housing problems
Kristi M.... is a Wonderful human being and very helpful and giving..
I dont know where Id be wo them. I thought Id be better by now but Im not. Thank you St Stevens God Bless You all. PS a special thanks to KJ who is no longer with them. My new caseworker Doug is great too.
This place has changed my life for the better. I am blessed to have St. Stephens in my life. They have gone above and beyond to help me. I don't know what I'd do without them.
Be very careful if you are a landlord and participate in one of their rent assistance programs. Housing advocates and legal advisors will have a bad tenant in your unit for 2 months and you will end up with a destroyed unit and no recourse.
Great place to go when you need they will do everything in there powers to help
They're making a difference, and are staffed with caring, resourceful employees and offer many programs, and tours for the public to learn more about homelessness
Marie the rep payee is so kind and down to earth . She is a great person she is not stuck up at all. It is important to have staff that don't look down on the people they are supposed to help.
The employee's are sincere in the desire to help homeless people, and there is a very wide range of programs and legal help made available to those who are homeless.
I was assigned to Jessica Marshall is not a good case manger. Overheard her on her phone with someone not professional.
Good shelter good staff be careful there alot of transition
