Great resort and golf courses, we were a bit unlucky as we visited in October 2017 and the fairways had a lot of sand on them to help drainage. Food in the hotel was good and a good atmosphere in the sports bar afterwards. Will be backM

Good facilities, pool is lovely and warm. Perfect for little ones!
Unfortunately I had to deduct a star as the lift is so so tiny, I can JUST fit my buggy in the lift with me squidged in the end! (buggy is an icandy peach so not particularly big) double buggies / larger wheelchairs certainly would not fit!

Stayed here attending a wedding locally. Our room was a delight. We booked a suite & I would highly recommend doing so. Separate sitting/dining area, enormous bathroom with raised bath, separate shower & his & hers sinks. King sized bed in large bedroom. Two balconies with superb views over golf course.
We were told the a la carte restaurant was closed 4 refurbishment.... no signs of any work being done & a local source told us it had been closed for ages & there were no plans to 're open, felt a little misled. We had drinks in the bar, the staff pleasant enough but extremely inexperienced. No knowledge of wine, we were told by bar staff that she didnt drink the stuff so why would she know about it? A gin order was incorrect but rectified quickly. We ate in the bistro & the food was very good.
Breakfast however was a disappointment. Orders wrong, food cold & not particularly pleasant. Staff again inexperienced hence wrong orders.
The next point isn't the hotels fault but the floor boards throughout the building are so noisy, you would think you were in an old building.
The pool area family friendly & used by locals.
All in all an adequate hotel.

Ordinary room, nothing special for this money, but even were no stuff that can be find in ordinary hotels: a sigle towel for two, no even tea bags and sugar in the room. Not clear with breakfast- even if you book it, you can not be in list. You will not get option if you do not ask. Very poor continental breakfast (for TWO persons- see photo). Only beautiful view.

Great golf and facilities. However service left a little to be desired at times (I think they need more staff). Inconsistency at the dining room meant food was great one day but absolutely atrocious the next. This is a shame as the resort could have been much better with some simple changes.

Great value, excellent amenities, good location, attention required to very minor points in the rooms ie TV viewing angle, bathroom door lock, security viewing hole on bedroom door but no complaints. Didn't eat here so no experience of food or service

2 couples stayed this weekend on spa/golf deal. Service was very slow. Staff not very helpful. Spa average at best. Only one towel in room between 2 people no robes in ours. In restaurant No 18 sat down to choose meals only to have menus taken away as they didnt have enough. After complaint duty manager gave us "complimentary" bottle of prosecco only to find it added to bill next morning. Wont be staying again. Not recommended.

Staff were very helpful and despite the restrictions very efficient and friendly. Hotel is starting to look tired. Sealant around the bath has 1 inch gap when filled. Floorboards creak excessively and we were o on the top floor. Food good lunch and breakfast average evening meal in bland setting.
On the golf side the starters on both courses were excellent. Nicklaus course extremely wet but a fabulous looking course without a bad hole, the worse being a short par 3 towards end of the front nine. An outstanding golf course, very tough especially in the wet with every bad shot punished and I am a 9 handicap. Some long walks between holes and a good walk. Greens excellent.
Kernow a wonderful quirky course with lots of tempting risk and reward par 4s and great par 3s. Only 5300 yards but cleverly fitted In and good rest from Nicklaus would thoroughly recommend the golf courses. Loved the golf.

I attended St Mellion Resort to go for a swim with my partner, her sister and our niece. The pool area was clean and well attended by life guards. We also stopped in the brasserie for a coffee and snack, all the staff could not have been any more welcoming.

I've been to the venue a few times and always had good experiences however recently I've been disappointed.

My lunch was forgotten about and I had no tea vouchers in my welcome pack.

I know they have had since staff changes recently so may be a settling in period is required.

The hotel is outdated and gloomy, our double bedroom was dark, dusty and looked like something from a 70s movie.... very disappointing. The golf courts are ok but the resort looks really old and depressing! Very disappointed

Staff in the niklaus bar seemed rude and it were like they couldnt be bothered to be there which shouldnt be the case.we booked the niklaus course of the phone and stated on the phone i needed a buggy for my ederly father but was not told at this time in regards that the buggy had to stay on the path and couldnt enter the fairway or rough at anytime. We arrived at the course and proceeded to the first tee in our buggy to be told by starter that if u hit it in the rough for example, on right side of fairway that u must park on path and take 2 clubs over to your ball which i have never heard anything like this. So if u hit a ball in a bunker reality is u could have to take a sw with u and then 2 more clubs to make sure yardage is correct and also some of the fairways are possibly 100-150 yards across from path.I did contact the club in regard to there reasons on this buggy rule but like there staff they dont seem to interested.Nice place but wont visit again..they will be happy about that no doubt

Booked 3 nights in March. The rooms are minimal and very travel lodge. I think this hotel was built on the cheap and shows it. The staff were great and helpfull ( thank god ) This made the stay bearable ! The pool & spa are very public accessible, so don't excpect a quiet time there!
The menu in the Bewdern Brasserie is just like your local pub chain and needs updating, as does the quality of the food..... Poor. The golf courses are great to play and the pro shop is very helpful and friendly, as are the course marshalls.
Play the golf, stay somewhere else.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights - we picked it as we needed to be able to check in at midnight. The air conditioning whistled all night on the first night, even though we turned it off. This made it difficult to sleep. The next day we asked to be moved to another room but they assured us that they would have it fixed. When we came back that evening it was still whistling. They reluctantly moved us to a nearby room but it was just as bad. I don't know if it was just the 2nd floor rooms or even just our side of the corridor, but it wasn't the peaceful break we were hoping for. Staff were pleasant and (eventually) helpful.

I wouldn't recommend it unless you sleep like a log, and even then... For the price i would prefer a travelodge. Breakfast was good though

More generally, it's well located but tired. Tiled floor in the bathroom all loose and sharp.

St Melion is just over the Cornish border, it's easy to find easy to get to.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the barstaff warm and friendly as well.
The rooms are comfy, clean and the shower rips the skin off! Very nice if you like that sort of thing (I do).
The Kernow course is brilliant, I'll update the review once I've played the Nicholas course.

It was a really good experience. Really a big place to stay with surrounded by a big golf court. Vast area i would say and easily reachable. You can see from morning to evening all the time busy outside with people playing golf and other health club activities. I would suggest a good place to stay for a single day.
