It s a decent shelter, taking really good care of the animals making them feel precious and important. We are new to the pet world the lady who guided us was very patient and detailed in providing every essential information.
At front desk you may encounter with some ignorant/less helpful employees.

Amazing facility! I got a tour after donating some items. Wow - I've seen hospitals and schools in developing countries that are nowhere near as nice as this. Whoever does their fundraising is clearly a rockstar. Separate filtration systems for sickrooms, clean outdoor and indoor spaces for the animals plus they do dog training with the ASPCA. Staff and volunteers seemed happy and knowledgable.

We adopted a Schnauzer mix named Kerry in March 2014. We could not have asked for more dedicated or more concerned people than the volunteers at St. Hubert's. They gave our dog a scholarship for further training after they had trained him for a couple of months. They followed up with phone calls to see how things were going and made suggestions re: the usual problems. He is now training in a class led by Jennifer who is excellent.

I would not adopt a dog anywhere else.

St. Hubert's does an amazing job finding homes for displaced animals. After hurricanes Harvey & Maria, St. Hubert's was a key distribution point for the scores of animals rescued from those storms. They also have top notch training facilities as well!

Incredibly impressed by this rescue. I was able to tour the facility. The programs they provide for animals just shows not only how much they care, also how much time the put into innovation and trying new things to further increase adoptions as well as the welfare of the animals while in their care.

We've gone there before to adopt a dog and a cat previously. We went there to get one kitten and left with these two sisters. Facility is clean and beautiful, staff is extremely helpful and nice. They don't make you jump through ridiculous hoops unlike other animal rescues that make you practically sell a kidney and give them your entire history since the moment you were born as well as reference's before even considering you for adoption. It is very obvious that St Hubert's cares for their animals and it is apparent the moment you step through the doors.

They are a 5 star shelter in the northern NJ area that does a lot to help TSNR, transportation of pets & so on. My only issue is the transparency with animals. Every single cat we ve fostered, or failed foster, have been additions to our lives that I wouldn t trade for the world, but don t just try to do an up-sale on their cat (or dog, rabbit, etc...) A majority of these animals have either had a rough start or been through trauma and sometimes have ailments that should all be disclosed at time of inquiring about the potential new foster or adopted pet. Many cat or dog people want to save as many of these shelter animals as possible there is no need to worry about disclosing this information

We were recently there and I was bitten by a dog. Afterwards same dog attempted to bite our daughter. Apparently, they were aware that dog had these tendencies but failed to make their counselors aware. We later called to make sure dog was up to date on all shots. This is when we realized that management was never even informed of incident nor did they seem to care. My wife wasn't even asked how I was doing after attack. My daughter actually recorded the attack on video and we are appalled of their lack of concern or communication within their staff.

Adoption fee is a little pricy but totally worth it. Staff is kind and helpful. After adopting Sawyer. We had to take him back to get neutered and they did an excellent job on the surgery too. No issues with healing and the incision looked incredible. If you adopt a dog through them they also offer so many great discounts for things like training classes and pet insurance and their store, and also they do check in calls to make sure the transition is going OK for you and your new pet.

With all do respect to the work done here I have an issue, my friend contacted St Huberts because she needed to have her animal(cat) put down as she is financially strapped she was informed that it would be done free, she called them up told her situation( cat was eating, drinking, using the litter box but was unable to walk or stand without falling over, cat was over 10yrs old ) she was told by whom ever she spoke with, that it would have to be discussed with the manager and they would call back which they did and she was told they would put the cat up for adoption but not put her to sleep. The animal has since passed(all in a matter of days). My friend came to you for help because she couldn't afford care for her pet and you gave her BS. So thanks for nothing.

Today I was smitten with St. Hubert s and will always remember you with donations however modest. Early this morning I noticed an owl sitting on our footpath. Although I love all things both great and small, I was perplexed about what to do when I saw this beautiful brown and white owl sitting still for many hours,,, he was alert, moving but not flying. To the rescue St. Hubert s and Jeff and his beautiful GS, Duly. Jeff id d the owl as a youngster probably no older than a year, suggested that the bird was probably startled by a window, and we were all delighted to see this venerable owl fly off grandly to the trees...My loving thanks for this beautiful rescue and thanks from the bottom of my heart!!!! lynn falanga

I have attempted to have a conversation with 3 different employees about a simple issue (including the manager Tom Burke). I called x5 and emailed x1with no response from anyone! Frustrating & totally unprofessional. Frankly I'm surprised the facility runs well with management like that!

I adopted my Senior Labrador from here in November 2017. The volunteer who helped me was kind. She gave me a background on dog foods as well as locations that she shops for her own dogs. As we were finalizing his paperwork, it was very sweet that a few of volunteers stopped by to say goodbye to him and wished us well.

St. Hubert's is dedicated to the animals and give many help classed. I like that on the Petfinder sight they tell what the dogs need. Like so need a lot of exercise, some are on special diets, very helpful. The people that work there really care for the animals with love and compassion.

I've rescued two puppies (one born on site and one 13 months) from here since June that came up from the Southern States. All the staff I have interacted with have been excellent and you can tell they really care about the animals there. They suggested pairing the 13 month old with our now 8 month old puppy after our elderly dog had to be put to sleep and it was like they'd known each other their entire lives. It's been over a month and no issues between the two whatsoever. It doesn't cost much to fully adopt a pet from here (or foster) It is well worth a visit if you're looking for a canine or feline companion.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place with a rude "bett...

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE place with a rude "better than thou attitude" volunteer coordinator by the name of Jennifer Lyons who designed a volunteer program that requires you be "interviewed" first and if "accepted" you MUST give 10 hours of your time to "working" in the facility first and then attend 2 separate classes BEFORE you are even able to walk a dog. Totally outrageous demands to walk a dog. Her "program" takes complete advantage of potential volunteers who actually have lives outside of their desire to volunteer and cannot commit that amount of time. This place has gone through at least 3 "volunteer" coordinators in the last 3 years and each year the criteria in order to volunteer to walk a dog has become more prohibitive and constraining. Completely unnecessary and a waste of time unless you don't have another job and are able to go there at least 5 separate times BEFORE you can walk dog. I, for one, will not be taken advantage of by St. Hubert's and will find another rescue to offer my volunteers services.

Shame on St. Hubert's for working together for months with a major pet store in order to evict a great animal rescue from their 24/7 adoption center. This was done with no explanation and minimal notice to the current rescue.

If you're in the market for a rescue animal try here. This place is phenomenal. The adoption process was so easy. We took our pet home the same day. They have private rooms for you to meet with the animals. Nice and clean and big. Having visited several underwhelming shelters, I was impressed how awesome this place is.

So today my boyfriend and i went to adopt a dog to give it a forever home. Before we went, we looked online at a few pictures and saw a picture of this one dog. We rushed over to see if he was available and he was. One of the volunteers, got a worker to let us meet the dog. We showed our licenses and the worker argued with me over the fact that she thought i was not 18. My license says i am 18 and i know how old i am. She then told me that my boyfriend can not see the dog without a parent present because he is 17 years old. (which would have been fine, if she wants so rude about it). We ended up just walking out because they were being very disrespectful . It's so disappointing that we were nothing but polite and wanted nothing but to adopt a dog. So not only did they lose our business but now a dog has to suffer longer trapped in a cage when he could have had a loving forever home.

Great animal rescue, just provided shelter to 84 cats and probably dogs that survived Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas. Go check them out and if you can't adopt, please consider donating your money, time, or supplies. No donation is too small.

Unfortunately when I became a widow I couldn't stay with my cat Bella. After much searching I found this place where they received her lovingly. I left her very sad. then I didn't have a place where I could have her with me. I received information many times that she was fine, but she had become very aggressive. Still Bella had the attention of a volunteer, who specifically brought cookies to her. There are no words to thank, it is a place that if today or tomorrow I could help, I would do it with all my heart.

So here's how it went. We took our guinea pig Lulu there and they seemed very kind of it. We fed her well and she was in good health. We went a month later to check on her, without saying a thing and the lady bringing her to the guinea pig section told us that she wasn't kept well and left by her owners. How can you St. Hubert's people lie to others just to get the publicity of a sad story just for others to take sympathy and buy such thing. Plus, she seemed to be not well fed and put into company with another guinea pig she did not like. But of course, this women said " they loved each other". So yea, if that women is reading this, please to let you know that stop telling lies to sypethize others. That's why I'm giving this place a 1 star rating.
