As a current resident at saint christophers, I could tell you that this place is doing absolutely nothing for either me or the rest of the kids here. This is my senior year and i have been living here for three years. They promised that they were going to help me find independent living programs or assistant living programs for when i leave here and now im stuck to figure things out for myself. They do not care about the kids here at all they have no clinicians at the moment no recreational programs or anything for us to do. They barely have any staff to watch the kids and they keep on taking in new kids knowing full well they dont have the staff to watch them. The kids just sit in the cottages all day and cant have their phones, cant watch TV til 7:30 at night and our bed time is 8:30. Than they wonder why the kids sit there and create unnecessary drama with one another and its because they have nothing beneficial going on or for the kids to look forward to. I would not advise sending your kids here or even working here. They dont even communicate nothing with the staff like when they need to work next they just put them on a schedule and expect them to show up like they dont have lives to live. The only good thing that i could say is that the school is a better place with people who actually care about us. They do more to make sure all us kids are good and only want to succeed. But that kaplan and they have a totally different program compared to st christophers. Also the food at st chris isnt even cooked. They brought chicken one time and it was pink and the vegetables were still frozen. In my opinion they NEED to shut this place down

St, Christopher is a holistic, nurturing and supportive environment for some of our most struggling young people. As a DOE teacher and special education coordinator, I have looked into their services and their campus for several of our students over the years. Their staff have been exceedingly accommodating and welcoming. I am confident that St Christopher can support students in ways many learning centers cannot, they individualize care academically, socially, therapeutically and physically, in addition to life planning. I have made connections with the staff, and it's been reassuring to hear how highly they think of their work and how connected and compassionate they are with their students. For families looking for comprehensive youth support, this is the place!

As a former employee, I would advise anyone from sending their children here. I first joined st Chris's team hoping that I could change these children's lives and provide them structure and guidance. I have a passion for psychology, as I do have my degree in psychology. The more time I spent there, I realized it wasn't about the children, it was about money. It wasn't about who is qualified for the job; but who they can bully and control without exposing them. Lower status staff like myself. I eventually learned that this place is more of a bureaucracy, and a harsh sentence to some of these kids. And with the lack of knowledge most staff have here, to guide, and actually care for these adolescence, to help them grow and overcome is unqualified and sad to witness in front of your own eyes. I am not one too stand around and not say anything, so once I did, I was bullied out of there. Shows how professional these people are handling children at such a precious developmental age. This place shouldn't be; or they need to do a lot of reforming and changing if they actually care, but they don't, that's the worst part, which is why I left.

I used to be there from the ages of 15-18. I used to hate it. But now I realize it wasn t bad. In fact I miss those days. I would relive it all again. I ve gained some lifetime friends being there. My experience was great. I m 34 now. I would recommend sending a troubled teen here.

Child welfare has its challenges. This agency would do well to do some meaningful fund raising and grant writing to supplement programming. They try to provide quality services but funding and staffing issues are a barrier. Agency is top heavy but youth need service providers on the ground. Covid has interrupted some of the gains the agency has made. Perhaps they can regain their momentum.
