Only a great place if you're not BLACK... Me and my entire family have experienced stares, dirty looks and whispers. I was personally questioned about being here when leaving the upstairs track on the elevator, entering the swimming Pool area.... Woman staff asked me if I was lost, as if I didn't belong there..... Hopefully this changes because it's 2016 Slavery and Racism should've ended in 1863 #OneLove

The YMCA says that it is "committed to strengthening communities through youth development"...yet, they close a perfectly good, 4 STAR, Child Care Facility that has been helpful to the Royersford community for over 2 decades!

They have lost their way. Don't give them your money!

terrible experience especially when it comes to the outside pool. Pool opens late than the scheduled time and this summer they have decided to open the pool at 3 pm instead of regular 11 am. It is already a late opening to begin with. They are charging 98$ a month and raising the price yearly but the service is getting worse and worse.

Update: the director ended up reaching out to me. She was kind and sincerely apologetic. I m glad to know they care about their members. I never had a bad experience until that day and haven t had one since. I m glad to know this problem has been resolved because I love the Y! Thank you for truly caring about your members.

Terrible experience yesterday with one of the staff members. 3 members, 4 guests. All adults except for one nine year old. We were there for a good 30 minutes just swimming in the first lap lane with no problems. Until this one guy kept coming up to our group. It got to the point when I went to the manager because he would not leave us alone. He told us that we could only swim laps, which we were doing when they weren t doing swim tests. Then he told us adults only, which we all were except for one. Then he came to us AGAIN saying elderly only. There were swim lessons on all but three lanes and I had asked if we could swim there with my younger sister. How he spoke to us was rude and extremely unprofessional. He did it to quite a few families. The manager was nice and we were able to get the guest passes refunded because it was a waste of a free guest pass. The other life guards were extremely friendly and had not been bothered by us just swimming. We weren t loud, causing a scene, or anything like that. We were just trying to have a good time.

I really like this YMCA because is very clean organize lots of extra curriculum activities only thing I didn't like about this place is I feel as though the three young ladies at the front desk is very racist They made me in my Daughter feel very uncomfortable like it was a crime for us to be there because we where BLACK I just don't understand how you can work in a public place in be racist.

We loved Spring Valley. We believed the YMCA was a highly-regarded organization that nurtured youth development, families and the community... but recent events (aka: closing the CDC after 26 years with little insight or notice except for "factors out of our control") have proved otherwise. Such a disappointment, and very upsetting to the teachers, families and community.

Spring Valley YMCA is located in Royersford in beautiful Montgomery County PA. It is a large, well-rounded Sports Center, equipped with an indoor running track, two swimming pools, state of the art free weight gym, two humongous basketball double-courts and a yoga slash martial arts gym studio. It is well run, nicely kept, regularly cleaned, well sanitized and well staffed. I highly recommend this place as I always have great workouts here and I love the variety of sports it offers. See for yourself, you will love it.

The Spring Valley YMCA in Royersford (PA) is open. It is given that they check your temperature before entering and you have to keep using mask inside except when on a machine. Sensible move as this is a medical issue and not a political issue.

Weightlifting equipment was well spaced out. For equipment that involved heavy breathing, such as treadmill and cycles, every other machine was shut down. Sensible move. Plenty of went sanitary wipes for the equipment, before and after each use. Great.

The place wasn't crowded and you can enjoy a refreshing workout.

This is a big and beautiful facility. Prior to COVID-19, the place was humming and busy as a beehive. I yearn for those pre-COVID days at the gym. Everything has changed but life must go on.

Thanks to the Spring Valley YMCA, I will sneak in now and then for a refreshing sweating out on those machines, COVID-19 or not.

I can't say enough about this place. The child care is phenomenal, the staff in the infant room make me feel so comfortable leaving my baby there so I can get consistent, uninterrupted workouts in. My toddler absolutely loves the outdoor pool and we have a blast there as a family. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The facility is incredibly clean. The spin classes are challenging and super fun. We just love this YMCA!

The only good experience I had with this YMCA was with the staff that came to the after school care at Evans Elementary (Ms Kim & Mr Tyler). They were amazing. My daughter really enjoyed her time with them.

I wish I could say the same about the Camp. My daughter did not enjoy her time at the Y as I expected her too. The staff doesn t have control over the kids. My daughter was touched inappropriately by a boy more than once, back kicked by a boy because he didn t want to stand in line, heard plenty of foul language (all of which she did inform her Counselor/s about & I heard nothing of by the YMCA).

I would absolutely do research before you make a decision for your child & spend over 2,000 +. They say they have programs for the kids like cooking etc. ask them how often & if they really do them.

Pizza Friday s are another story - they serve Pizza every other Friday or at least are supposed to. I pack my daughter a PB&J uncrustable on Friday s for after school because we don t head straight home. Because she had a lunch box they figured she has lunch & was denied pizza not once but twice! To believe all the money I ve spent & they would deny a child pizza is just beyond me.

I would highly recommend this YMCA especially over other local Y's. I use the child watch while I work out and I feel very comfortable leaving them. The staff is great. The classes are nice and the quipment is great as well. I do wish they offered more afternoon classes.

Great place to work out and take your children but the front desk staff could smile once and a while. You say thank you when they scan you in and you're hard pressed to get even a grunt back. You are the first to greet at least smile and say your welcome.

My experience was horrible at this location. The facility was very nice and clean. From the door the staff were extremely RUDE! Both staff members at front desk were rolling there eyes at my children.... Because my kids are black or mixed? Not quit sure exactly...... I have been a YMCA member for 5 yrs & been to most of the YMCA's in Montgomery county and this one is by far the worst. Will not be returning! Unexceptable to way they treated my family today.

Do you like lap swimming? If you do, definitely DO NOT give this YMCA membership $$$. Two pools and only 1, 2 single lanes available at any "normal" time of day - with 2-4 people sharing those lanes. (Hey, if you don't work a 9-5 and can go smack in the middle of the day, rock on. If not, stay away). I'm not exaggerating: Y swim teams, local school teams, lessons, aquarobics - they'll use these pools for anything BUT letting members just swim laps! I literally paid for a membership at a place with 2 pools that I cannot use. It's a joke.

Never sign up for this YMCA!! Canceling your membership is half impossible. They make it so easy to sign up any time, any where. But they require you to provide 30 written notification if you want to cancel. And they require you to show up at the office, even when I explained to them I am not in the area. I have been trying to cancel my membership now for 3 months and it looks like I will need to hire a lawyer. Or pay a plane flight, rental car, and my time. Never, never, never sign up for this YMCA!!

The YMCA to be. I travel a lot and have used a couple Y's in the area and this one wins, in my opinion. Facilities are huge, has an indoor track, indoor water park, rock wall, basketball courts, exercise studios, hot tub, you name it. Plenty of machines so I've never been in a situation where I couldn't find one I wanted to use. Staff are super friendly and the Y seems to have a pretty solid local presence. Facilities are clean, locker rooms are big, a great bang for your buck.
