I was looking for a professional, well located, cheap, and friendly place to learn Spanish and I found the school that combines all those features.
The most valuable at Speakeasy are the teachers! They helped me a lot to understand not only the language but also the Spanish culture while my very first months in Barcelona.
I appreciate that I was assigned to the group with the exact level of language I had.
The general experience was very positive. I would defenitely recommend it.

I had a really great experience at Speakeasy BCN over the last 2.5 months. The classes were well structured with very personable and competent teachers (thanks Marta Rubio and Sara!). My Spanish has definitely gotten a whole lot better! Added to that, the school (in particular, the amazing events coordinator, Nadia) organizes weekly trips and events, including day trips on the weekend, which were tons of fun (and my girlfriend could also come on the trips even though she wasn t a student at Speakeasy). Finally, the administration was great as well, and went out of their way to help me resolve a scheduling issue with one set of my classes (especially Yasmin). Overall, highly recommended!

Really good school. The teachers were really good and managed the slightly larger group of 8-9 students I was in. Also staff was really friendly and great in the communication and all that. The accomodation that the school arranged was in a lovely area with a very friendly Spanish lady.

The school for me was a great opportunity to meet new people in the city, while learning a new language. It makes it more fun and you will encourage eachother a lot. Can t wait to go back!

Absolutely Fabulous!! If you're looking for a school to start learning Spanish language Speakeasy is the best option. The heart of the school are there teachers. A started from A1 (I knew only "uno, dose tres") and finish C1. All the time a was with best teachers in the city, I'm sure.
The schedule is very comfortable: you can choose at the morning, day or evening however you want. The groups are max 10 people but normally it was 4-6 people in the class. And the PRISE!!! I was looking for the best prise because I was going to study a long term, so they gave a very-very nice prise. Much better than other school.
Really: I wasn't going to study a lot but a few weeks ago finished my 2d year. So chicos don't think a lot a choose best option!!!

Great location and small classes. The teachers and staff are wonderful and they really want you to learn the language. Because all classes are in spanish, I learn a lot more for everyday.

I was so happy with Speakeasy! The teachers were amazing and really helpful (I had Marta and Olga who are great) and the activities are really fun and the location is perfect. If I get the chance to study here again I would pick this one!

It's my great experience, a chance to meet many interesting people, see new places and speak new language. I like the way things are arranged at school. The teachers are very professional. You start speaking Spanish very quickly. It seems that you just chat with friends, and then you notice that you understand prople around, you speak Spanish! It's cool.

All the staff are so friendly! And the teachers are fantastic and make lessons enjoyable too!

I went to SPEAKEASY for 3 months. The teachers were so wonderful that I was looking forward to going every day. Now I can use Spanish without problems at work.

Your experience here will entirely depend on your teachers, and whether you are compatible with their teaching styles. I spent 16 weeks here and had some amazing teachers, and some that don't hide the fact theyd rather be somewhere else. One was even outright and openly rude about previous students and other teachers at the school during class. On the whole though I did learn a large amount of spanish, and am happy with my experience. Seconding another user in that if you start in the lowest level you should make an effort to learn a bit of basic grammar on your own before the first class, otherwise you may get lost.

Never thought I would learn Spanish but I have done so at the same time as I got new nice habits and got to experience Spain thanks to the trips speakeasy organizes, really recommend !!

Good location. Everything is very organized. Amazing teachers. The two teachers that share the intensive-course work very well together, so you don t miss out on anything! The groups are small, so you can ask any question you might have:) People from all over the world comes to this school, so it s a very international enviroment! The people that work in the reception are super nice and can answer all the questions you might have regarding NIE etc.

Wouldn't choose another school

I took an intensive course for three weeks (20 hpw) in the beginning and now I am taking the evening classes to finish B1. I overall agree with all the previous comments but the thing I like best is that all the peeps I met in the school are quite interesting themselves - mostly from the creative field, which I love - and it's easy to make new friends, which is valuable if you're new to the city!

The second thing I like are the girls at the reception - one feels like they are totally in control of everything - they know everything and are super social. I love all my professors - Georgina, David, Silvia - because all of them put extra effort in their teaching and if one is really eager to learn the language - that's quite helpful.

The school also offers extracurricular activities which I haven't visited yet, but I heard they are rather nice

Also, if you are Russian, this is your place. The atmosphere is very supportive and I feel like everybody speaks Russian.

I studied at Speakeasy more than one year and have a lot of good memories about it. Of course a lot depends on teacher and on the group, but i think there were only few teachers I was bored with and most gave us a lot of knowledge not only about Spanish grammar, reading and speaking but also helped with integration into Spanish society, gave a lot of information about Spanish culture and life in Barcelona in general.
In the middle of my studies Dina Marley became responsible for school activities and that is when all the fun begun. Tapas, restaurants, cine, sports, paddle surf, one day trips in Spain and to France and even skiing in Andorra!
I am very thankful for this experience!

When i sign in this school i didnt imagine how it will be. I was thinking that this is one more ordinary school. But this school is much more then that. Except knowlage you get new friends, new experiences, parties, traveling, and something really invaluable.

i started my class since last July after comparing with others. The prices of the classes are fair. Was with amazing professors in a small group of class with different techniques of teaching giving me more options and opportunities of learning. Excellent language school in Barcelona! The teachers are excellent and make the lessons very funny, interesting and loving, so that you really like learning to improve your Spanish skills in a short time .. It feels from the first moment in good hands and very welcome .. Also the girls in the reception are always helpful and take care of any matter as soon as possible. In addition, weekly activities and great excursions are offered, in which you can get to know Barcelona and the surrounding area as well as new people from other groups.

Every day I feel very happy in this school, I can study many words and improve my pronunciation.

I have just finished my first month studying at Speakeasy! In the last four weeks I have learnt more than in years studying Spanish at school. All of the teachers go above and beyond, they are always willing to answer any question and create a fun yet accessible learning environment. What s more, there is a great atmosphere across the whole school, with activities organised every week to truely immerse yourself in the Spanish culture! All of the administration staff are super friendly and helpful. 100% would recommend to a friend!

Good afternoon! A year ago, it was decided to move to Barcelona and learn Spanish. Bought long-term courses at Speakeasy. And after 9 months of studying at this school, I am fluent in Spanish. Excellent teaching staff, regular trips and activities from the school, which also affect the study of Spanish. And now I can advise this school with confidence. By the way, the prices are also pretty nice.

1/ The web site and the staff's answers on e-mails have been confusing (and/or directly misleading).

I advice everyone to double check _any_ stated information by asking in e-mail if you've understood correctly. This is somewhat awkward.

2/ The school keeps rather much of the accommodation fee, and it is questionable if they really deserve that. There are plenty of web services that offer many kinds of housing in Barcelona, and I think most students and most parents would be better served by direct contact with possible hosts or host families.

3/ I've learned another foreign language with the similar methodology, and a third language with more traditional methods. The teaching method is in my humble opinion good, although initially quite demanding on the teachers. And the Spanish teacher I happened to get here is excellent.

It's too early to give a definitive evaluation, but so far my impressions of the teaching are quite good.

She was a student of Speakeasy twice. Once I did the course for one year (evening course) and an intensive course to prepare for the official DELE exam.
Strengths of the school are:
- Classes only in Spanish from moment zero
- Teachers very well prepared for each class
- Events - where you can meet new people and make friends
- The location - city center

Overall I had a really great experience with Speakeasy. I had never studied Spanish before but already had some knowledge so I started with B1.1. Straight from the first class I was l learning and being challenged because no English was allowed in the class room! This forced me to have to speak and comprehend it. Christina was a really great teacher, she asked lots of challenging questions and was very clear in her explanations. There was a good mix of activities during the class also so I could practice speaking aswell as learning how to read and write with the correct grammar. This also made each class interesting and kept me interested and focused whilst learning. I was impressed that the school offered activities in the evenings and weekends. This made living in Barcelona a lot more fun because I was able to enjoy the social side of the city also. I will definitely study again with Speakeasy to pass my DELE exams!

Central location in bcn, capable teachers and fun extracurricular activities

I just spent the past six months studying spanish in speakeasy going from 0 spannish to living with spanish people and speaking just about fluently.
My teachers even went out of their way to look for spanish movies and books that matched my preferences and intrests!

What set SE apart for me tho was the amazing events and activities arranged by the school that allowed me to practice and enjoy Barcelona!

Speakeasy is the best school, where students learn from different conversations and games, it is so fun and enjoyable to learn Spanish in that way. I am studying with speakeasy only first week, however, I am going to continue next week with the evening classes. Marta and Ana are the professors that taught me for this week and I liked it a lot. I spent 9 weeks attending Speakeasy Language School in Barcelona and it was a great experience. The curriculum is well-planned and the teachers are all lovely. The location of the school is right in the centre of the city meaning that I could maximise the use of my time after class.

The school also has a great sense of community - we had three fun optional activities each week arranged for us, ranging from visits to popular tourist attractions such as Parc Guell to chilled afternoons playing volleyball at the beach or tapas nights. This was a great way to meet new people while possibly practicing Spanish. I would highly recommend Speak Easy Spanish Language School.

I totally recommend Speakeasy for learning Spanish! The teachers are generally very nice and professional, I took the intensive course, which allow you to have 2 different teachers every day. Since day one, the class is completely in Spanish, no English. The teacher will use various methods to let you understand what s going on, I personally love this way more, so everyday you will be immersed in the Spanish ambiente. My progress in Speakeasy surpassed my expectations which surprises me a lot! The location is very well situated and the staff are great and helpful too. Each week there are 3 activities prepared by the school which you may participate if you want (some you need to pay additionally). All in all, I am glad I chose Speakeasy, my Spanish really has made easy!

I started my Spanish course at speakeasy in June. I am very satisfied so far. The school is centrally located in Barcelona and has many classes. Because the school is a bit larger, you can easily change classes when you are not completely satisfied. This way you can find the perfect match that suits you in terms of speed and teacher.

Outside of that, the school organizes a lot of activities. So if you come to barcelona alone it's fun and easy to get to know people. I can highly recommend speakeasy!

This is a very good school. Teachers are nice and intelligent people. At the same time, the lessons are fun. I have been studying here for 7 months and continue to study, my level of Spanish has increased very much. Previously, I could hardly say a few words, but now I understand and can communicate with Spanish people.

Great school to learn the basics of the spanish language! High quality teachers and a good environment to follow the classes. Not only do you learn the grammar, pronunciation, etc... You also get to learn a bit of the culture and the daily life in Spain, taking with the teachers and fellow students about all kinds of things! (classes are in spanish) Nice location in the centre of Barcelona, easy reachable... I just finished 2 months of intensive Spanish classes at Speakeasy (level B1 & a bit of B2). 4 hours a day, 5 days a week. It can be quite a pain if you don t like how things are going on.

Although I chose the school for financial reasons, as it was the most affordable one I found, it turned out to be a great decision. The classes were absolutely cool, teachers well prepared, coming everyday with extra stuff, not just following the book, choosing interesting and actual topics of conversation, I really loved it. I may have been lucky to have a cool class too, with really smart and fun classmates, but in terms of teachers, I could hardly call it luck, as I worked with 4 of them and they were all really good.
Most important thing: now I speak Spanish:)

Speakeasy is an absolutely great school if you are looking for a place where you will feel at home in a short time, together with friendly teachers and in a pleasant atmosphere. The location of the school is perfect and it is easy to get to it from any side of the city. I had an intensive program for 4 hours a day and it's perfect for a full dive and you can feel the first differences in a week :)

It's a very nice school to learn spanish, even if you never studied spanish before.
The activities are the best part! You get to meet a lot of new people and the girl who organizes them is really lovely!
In the service office work people who speak different languages so you don't have any problems to book the right course an get some infos and they also have nice teachers.
