GREATLY PREFER THE OLD LOCATION. The new, spacious, clean location has an air of coldness and sterility (which says a lot coming from an INTJ). The allocation of space seems to lean largely toward the volunteers rather than the animals. Did not appear to be many animals available for public viewing, which would be a good thing, but that was never the case at the old location. The "farm" has become anemic at best in comparison to the old location as well.

Everything was great except for 1 part, which felt kinda big. The staff was very nice and helpful and made adopting my kitty easy and comfortable. My mark is that the the cats in the cages in the back have a lesser seeming chance for adoption especially after getting crammed practically the same size as the cat and look like rodent traps. I wanted to have a meet and greet with a cat and after getting put in the cage he peed out of fear and was left to soak in the urine while the person went to get something to clean the floor. It was traumatizing feeling helpless as he's howling in the crate soaking in his pee and there's nothing we can do because the urine on the floor was seen as a bigger importance than getting him out of his urine filled hell. There's got to be a better way to transport to the meet an greet. There's also a woman that I believe is too old and out of it to be handling the cats after watching her try to shove a frightened cat sideways into the crate. Some of the volunteers are wonderful. The woman who did the adoption with me was very kind.

They all was so professional and passionate about the work they do here that made feel of I was adopting a human baby girl .really happy I did adopted our new member of our family a cute kitten named Lindy.
And what people never realized is that the amount of money they invest in each pet here at SPCA in not even close the the adoption fee they require from . Trust me they really can use all the donation we can offer so please donate .thank you all for viewing my comment.

This place is spotless and staffed by wonderful animal lovers. A killdeer that decided to nest smack dab in the middle of the parking lot was cordoned off with a sign asking viewers to be respectful. Goats and a mini horse top it off to make for an immersive animal experience. Highly recommend this place for adoptions.

This is a newer facility that has a lot of critters that pass through. I was there when they opened to the public, and it really is a great place to adopt a new friend. They have a pet-convenience store on premises, stocked with pretty much every thing you can think of. I got a cat from here, his name is Huey and he's defective... but then again, what cat isn't?

Go adopt something.

The volunteers here are absolutely terrible! Everytime I come here they are so rude. Today we were looking at a dog, talking calmly to it. A volunteer comes up to me and asks if we re looking to adopt. Were not Bc we have enough dogs but often if we see a dog we tell our friends or family about it so they might be able to adopt. So anyways the dog starts barking and so quietly was saying it s okay, it s okay. The volunteer tells me okay that s enough you re stessing the dog out... mind you there are tons of other dogs that are doing the same thing on their own. I really think you need to find new volunteers as some of them might scare away potential forever homes.

They treated my wife and mother-n-law like trash. We set up an appointment for a meet and greet with another dog and their so called animal behaviorist had know idea what he was doing. Free having them wait for an hour past our appointment they denied the dog without even having the dogs go out side on leashes. My wife and mother-n-law went to buy something from their store and ended up getting kicked out. No reason. I will never support this SPCA again and I will discourage anyone else to do the same. Hey try answering your phones sometime.

I will always have a warm and fuzzy place in my heart for the SPCA. Having lost my beloved dog to illness, it took several visits to this beautiful facility before I was ready for a new companion. The staff was always welcoming and empathetic to my needs and more importantly, my timeline. I finally found my perfect match in an old gal about 8 years old. She had some health issues which were addressed promptly and humanely so I had to wait a couple weeks before she became mine. Adopting an older dog was the best decision for myself and family. She is thriving and we love our Phoebe to pieces!

I made two appointments to go in and see if I could give a good boy or girl dog their forever home. The first time I was unsuccessful in finding a match, but the staff was very warm and encouraging to try again soon. Within 5 days I was back to try again, and this time found my good boy. Both times I went in, the staff was cheerful and friendly, and the place was immaculately clean and welcoming.

Once I found my friend, all of the staff that saw us were congratulating us, and giving out treats and lovin' to my boy. This was the first time I adopted a pet on my own and the SPCA made it really easy, even during these trying times.

If you're still on the fence about going in, the place was very clean, and there was plenty of room to social distance. Book an appointment to see a dog, or go ahead and show up to see any of their other awesome pets ie. Ferrets, Rabbits, Chickens, Cats and bring home a friend today.

We went looking for my Dad a new friend as his best friend (Mom) passed over a yr ago. His last dog passed 3 yrs prior to Mom...but he just can't wrap his head around it yet....and may never again have one. Maybe because its hurts so bad when you have to let them go. Either way, they have ap many furbabies to love it's so dam hard to choose one over the other.

We attended a fundraiser event. Fun was had by all. I felt something was off when viewing the dogs in the building. There were only a few and one was exactly like the pup I am fostering. They told me she was from the same place. She was so despondent and afraid. My pup is also very timid and leery of people. I believe she needs better care and attention to her feeling of insecurity, perhaps placing her where she is not confronted by large groups of people looking at her through plexiglass. My heart still hurts for her. Now I wish I had adopted her and found her forever home with my foster pup. They need other pups to be with them for comfort.

The people here were really nice the only odd thing about it I would say is that they don't let you pet the dogs or into their cages to see them or them out see you unless you are green carded in which basically just means you have to tell them that you want to take a dog home today like this very moment before you can even bond with it and see if you guys are a good fit That's kind of a weird thing to me I don't really like that..but everything else was great people weren't nice they were engaging they were complementary they really seem to just care about the animals themselves

They don't care about the animals, only what they think they can profit off of. I had a feral cat I rescued but couldn't keep and they wouldn't even evaluate her, said right on the phone "no one will want this cat, you don't even want this cat". She was a really sweet and amazing cat, I just didn't have the proper space for another cat. They also tried to get my mother to sign over her dogs when she had a house fire. They said to her that they had a 24 hour vet to take care of them and then called us at 2am saying her dog was dying and they didn't have a vet there. Tried to get us to surrender both dogs over the phone so they could euthanize them. Gave me a huge hassle when I requested they rush the dogs to the ER. Both dogs are alive and very well now with no side effects of the smoke inhalation. They have no compassion. I don't trust them at all.

I love what the SPCA does for animals but the first two visits I have made to this new location have been very disappointing in the sense of friendliness of the staff. The building itself is beautiful and the housing for animals is wonderful. The volunteers are amazing and friendly. Paid front desk staff however is horrible. Nasty, unfriendly, unhelpful sad group of people. I just don't understand how such a good organization can have such an unhappy nasty group of people manning the front entrance.

I agree with many of these other people that the staff is very unfriendly. The volunteers like Mark really make up for the short and rude remarks of the staff at the front desk. I asked about the link Pet Connect that is not working online and was shown a binder of paperwork at the front desk? I really wanted to save a dog but I think I may have to go to a breeder after all because it seems quite difficult to acquire a dog here.

The new facility on Harlem Drive is awesome. This is a huge improvement over the facility in Tonawanda. Very clean and professional. The employees are extremely helpful. I had to have my beloved cat put down and they were so kind to me and my daughter. We both cried as my Autumn was taken away. You are not allowed to view the pet being put down. Great place for adoptions of cats, dogs, bunnies, etc.

This is a beautiful, fairly new, clean, building. The animals are very well treated and given adequate space of their own. Inside you'll always find dogs and cats but there are also other pets such as turtles, bunnies, lizards, mice, snakes and some other types of rescues as well. There is also a barn, depending on when you go, you may find pigs, chickens, roosters, goats, ponies or other farm animals.

Adoption fees are very reasonable. You can meet and greet with animals you are thinking of adopting. Inside is a store full of pet supplies, accessories and some knick knacks. If you're interested in getting a pet rescue an animal from here and give them a good home with a family (which can be just you or any mix of a family)!
