Their ringman online auction is no Manheim. They sent everyone online for bidding during the shutdown due to the virus, however they don't have the technology to handle the volume of users. Missed the auction due to this as to it kicked me offline and now redirects me to the home page every time I click a link. I wonder if the sellers are aware of the potential sales revenue lost due to this issuue??
I had to pick up one car from this auction. Spent 4 hours walking around looking for it. Asked the guard, got an answer: it might be in the sold lot
Turned out it was like 8 lanes down. Basically looked through 3/4 of the cars.
Super unorganized. One of the worst and most unprofessional team, that works out there. Since the accuracy of the locations are totally off.

I am a transporter this is definitely the most unorganized auction I have ever been to all day looking for 8 cars and still can't find them and it's Sunday and gard can't help you at all only point you to 5000 cars and say probably over there going to have to charge the dealer a lot more money to haul cars out of here
Loading out of here is an awful experience. It took 5 hours to pull 9 cars. By the time I had found them all it had gotten so late that I had to argue with the guard to get them all out. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because one of the guards went out of his way to help me out. He's the only reason I found most of them in this haystack of a yard.

I have 30 years in the car business and this is the only auction that has never screwed up a title transfer on any of my purchases or sales.

After dealing with SAA for years, and spending hundreds of thousands of dollars in fees alone,
a description lied about a car having leather seats.
After requesting a refund or adjustment, Steve Boisvert started a response with: This is what we're going to do and this is how we're going to do it. He went on to offer some minor discounts against future fees. I have never been subjected to that kind of arrogance!
Finding this response unacceptable, I reached out to the General Manager, who will not even return my email!
Since this person has the last word on customer service at your establishment, and a long term customer is worth less than $150.
I will be taking your auction off my shopping list.
I've been with Southern Auto for 13yrs. I was called back for work in the office to keep auction running smooth. Unfortunately, I've heard that the auction will never be as it once was.
The worst customer service I've ever received in my life. Every staff member I spoke with was rude and talked over me. I've never had so many issues trying to sign up for an auction. They never return your calls or have answers to your questions. If you're thinking of signing up here, I wouldn't waste your time like I did. I went back & forth for a month trying to get in this auction just to get declined. i would've purchased more cars here than any other auction but now I can't. Also just a warning: they give out your information to people who aren't even in your company...

Southern auto auction in Connecticut is an auction house for car dealers, a regular person can not purchase a vehicle here without going through a car dealership.
I have been to a lot of the auction houses from Maine to New Jersey and this one has to be the most organized and cleanest I've ever seen.
I needed to pick up my car from this location. I set up an appointment just to be forced to wait
The undisputed big kahuna of auto auctions, SAA has the best selection of used cars in the state. 17 very busy lanes are filled every Wednesday with cars from all over the region and the dealers who will get them. The facilities are top-notch, and a pervasive sense of attention to detail runs through the place. Staff has clearly been trained to be not only effective but pleasant, and are very experienced at what they do.
Great place, fast, reliable service. The information giving is very accurate. This is the largest private owned auto auction in the USA. If your an auto dealer you must check this place out!

I just checked the page to see if they are still there . They are! I used to be a regular customer. They were the only real big auction in that area for decades. Great food . Good lease dept . After that , trust me , if your not one of the top 10? Dealers in volume, they couldn't care if you come or not . Holding a multi-thousand check for a car sold for 3 weeks is inexcusable. We keep calling and being told we sent it to accounting . Accounting never repones.
I like working there. I get to drive a lot of car's that I can not afford to buy. Porches, Corvettes, and other expensive car's.

Best Auction in CT hands down. Very modern. You can go from buying a crappy $200 car to $100k plus luxury or classic vehicle. Service is always very professional. The auction is very organized, clean and professional. Never had an issue here. However be careful you dont rub shoulder with one of the Dealer guys who may think he's better than you. On the other hand Owner is great! Remember to also visit Eastern Motorsports down the street which is a part of this auction for your motorcycle, atv, jet skis and more.
As far as auctions go for dealers, this is the nicest in New England.

so here is the deal with this Auction... Probably the worst staff i have ever dealt with overall. The worst person to ever deal with is Steve Boisvert.. i bought 5 cars worth over $100k and my check happened to be short $250 because of a post sale inspection, so after he called me and told me about it and i agreed to mail it.. he kept my cars and would not release them to the driver that had been there all day. so he kept my car as hostages for $250. I tried calling him and left him 5 voice mails i never got a call back and no one else in the auction would help.. i usually do not write reviews but these guys are bad.. do your self a favor and go buy from Manheim Auctions. Much better People and much better Cars.
They have a great selection of cars . Big auction as well..I understand it must be hard to orchestrate an operation this big while pleasing everyone at the same time..I have had a ton of problems with getting my cars released from the auction after payment was made ..They will accept your business checks but will hold them for nearly a week before they release your vehicles , they dont accept cash except under $1000 and they also except a wire which could take a couple days ..So i never have the option of taking my cars home with me , which in turn gives me NO recourse if something major is wrong with them because they will ONLY arbitrate a complaint on the day OF the auction and not after ..So the way its set up definitely 100 percent rigs the game for the sellers ..Puts small dealerships like myself into a really bad position because im not Rich and taking a few BAD hits ( transmissions / motors / differentials ) etc could easily put my whole business into a reallly really bad spot at this point ..Only auction i have been to that is set up this way , every other auction excepts my business checks or credit card , or cash and i can leave that day with my cars because i live about 100 miles away ...Also had a problem with my cars not being released to my shipper even after they have been paid for and funds are cleared etc ...Its just been a really tough place to deal with so far for us , we might really have to look at other options ...The owner is TOO BIG TOO FAIL ,so to say and we are just small fish in HIS pond it feels like ...Never had these problem as Manhiem , addessa , or even springfield hartford co op ...

Out of State don't bother. Impossible to get in. I deal a lot with dealerships that send there cars there and I don't think they would be to pleased to find out the bidding pool is being compromised. If i am complaining there must be hundreds. I would not send one car there. Look at Sean Mov below.
Review from a transporter point of view: Stop calling cops on us for stupid rules you have regarding parking. It s just not cool.

NO IDEA HOW this auction house has 4+ stars, they are the WORST. 1+ MONTHS of back & fourth trying to get signed up and then ANOTHER 3 WEEKS of trying to get "approved" to sell vehicles in their auction. No call back, no email response and when you call them to check up on the status I get attitude for calling 3 times per week. HOW ABOUT INSTEAD OF GIVING ME ATTITUDE YOU SIMPLY DO YOUR JOB SO EVERYONE CAN MAKE MONEY! SO many other options, don't even waste your time here.
Cheryl at the dealer checkout was a rock star today. We were paying for our cars and having some issues with floor planning. She took ownership of the situation, made some phone calls, and solved the issue for us. Employees like her (and quality cars) is why we keep coming back to SAA.
I have had a pleasure of attending several of the auctions that are given by the city of Hartford.Southern Auto Auction is one of my favourite, i bought many used good cars from there and the last one was Skoda Fabia for only $2500
I plan on returning to purchase another car soon. I have a pleasure also to say that Repokar is also very good and trustworthy car auction, which i recommend everyone to attend.

Technically I work for Ultra shine car detailing. I work with the employees of Southern Auto Auction. And normally it's really fun working there.
Go To Manheim or Adessa. Pass on SAA. Southern Auto Auction is the worst private auction in the entire Northeast. You can buy cars cheaper on craigslist. It makes dealing with people on craigslist so much easier than dealing with the people at Southern. If you come from out of state don't even try.
Southern Auto Auction is not only one of the best auctions that I have attended, but also the most friendly. The staff is GREAT! I always looked forward to the factory GM sales.
Now that I am in Florida I can not attend, but will continue to buy on line.

Doing business at any car auction isn't a walk in the park. Wether buying or selling, I always want a better deal. It doesn't always play out like that. What I can count on is an auction that holds to its policies.
