We closed on our home a few weeks ago thanks to Fred Curry and all of his great work! From the very first day we reached out to closing day, he was professional, vigilant, kind, and prompt. He consistently and smoothly guided us through the process. We also appreciate that he educated us on what was happening and what was to come and always kept us in the loop so we could make sound decisions. We would not have been able to close on our home without Fred. He's a problem solver and an excellent loan originator. We will definitely be returning to Fred when we purchase again!

Where do I start? I came to Southeast Mortgage on a wing and a prayer, hoping that my dreams of owning a home were still a possibility. I was previously approved for a mortgage through another company with an expected closing cost of 40k which was not part of the original plan. I decided to walk away from that company (the week I was scheduled to close) and my awesome realtor Ebony King phoned a friend, Jerome Jackson! He is absolutely amazing and with the support of his team I received the CLEAR TO CLOSE two weeks later with 17k due at closing. I would not be a homeowner today without Southeast Mortgage!!! As a Realtor who s worked with several lenders, this has to be the WORST experience I ve EVER had. My clients were given a projected close date of 3/31/2021 on their new build. Because projections can change, as we approached March, I confirmed the close date with the builder as well as Southeast Mortgage & was assured of an on-time close. This was important as my clients lease ended 3/31 & their baby was due 4/16 so they wanted to ensure an on-time close to prep for the baby s arrival or make arrangements for an extended lease. The day before closing, I called because wiring instructions still hadn t been sent to the buyers & was told the appraisal had not come back yet. I was also told by the on-site agent that it should only be another day or so until it comes back so I communicated this to the buyers. The next morning & original day of close, I was told by our loan officer the appraisal hadn t even been ORDERED & because it was VA, it could take 1-2 WEEKS. Turns out, my clients appraisal was supposed to be ordered with the other homes on that street, closing on the same day. However, the lender & builder purposely left my clients lot out because they wanted to get the other appraisals back to ensure my clients lot appraised & they wouldn t lose money (this I did not find out until later). On top of that, we were set to close on a Tuesday which is when I found out the appraisal hadn t been ordered. Instead of ordering the appraisal ASAP, I was informed that they still had not planned to order it until the next Monday AFTER WE D ORIGINALLY EXPECTED TO CLOSE & the 1-2 week countdown would start then (this I would not have known if our loan officer s supervisor had not said it by mistake). It wouldn t have been as bad if the lender communicated that our date would be pushed back BEFORE THE DAY OF CLOSE, but we were given about 5 different close dates after realizing that we weren t closing on time & closed at the end of April. Both the lender & the builder made this transaction so stressful, I will make sure that I deter ANY & ALL of my clients from using this company! Awful, Awful, Awful!
I worked with Jerome Jackson based on a recommendation, and let's just say, I'm willing to recommend him and Southeast Mortgage to others. From the beginning, Jerome and his team were very responsive and communicative. Everyone provided excellent customer service, and we closed on time. I had a great experience with Southeast and would be willing to use them again, should the opportunity present itself.
Angela Lane and Southeast Mortgage are the best! We completed a long distance home purchase and Angela treated us as if we were her top priority through the entire process. She guided us through each step and allowed us to complete the entire process online, except for closing. Angela even found a way to change my financing mid-purchase which allowed us to buy our new home with no money down AND arranged for a power of attorney so my wife didn t have to fly down for the closing. I ve still never met Angela in person but she continues to follow up with us after the sale to make sure the move goes smoothly and we don t fall prey to scams. We ve purchased 3 other homes in various parts of the country but Angela and her team are superior to any we ve ever dealt with! Simply Outstanding!
