Everything is great and a worker named Pam is amazing

Outstanding Services great atmosphere is nice and quiet a great family environment a grandparents to take the kids

Sonnys is always "okay" BBQ, but in Gainesville there are many more better options. Davids, for one is a lot better and Adams is also a better choice.. all of those options are the same price point. I would only recommend going to Sonny's out of convience.

My understanding is this is one of, if not the original Sonny's. I've gone to this restaurant for over ten years on various trips and the food is consistent and tasty. Best ever BBQ? Nope. You know what you are going to get each time however.

I've always loved Sonny's BBQ. This place has classic BBQ and some of the best ribs and sliced BBQ you could ask for. The atmosphere is laid back and the hospitality is great with a lot of good country love. Bring your family and enjoy some of the best BBQ around. Sonny's is one of the original BBQ restaurants started in the local area. Come and enjoy!

Normally great food, great salad bar, great atmosphere & great service.

Always good and consistent. I have a bone in my chicken today but no biggie, it happens.

Excellent ribs, and sauces. It's best, I think, to just mix up your own flavors from the 4 sauces. A little bit of smoke or flame, and sweet is really good together.

Has gotten more expensive less food for the money use to get what you paid for had to ask for napkins and bbq sauce

This was one of the best SONNY'S, last to take out Family Meals were a disappointed meal,Sliced PORK ORDERED(NOT PULLED FATTY PORK) CHICKEN WAS VERY SMALL PIECES,COLD SALW WAS OLD AND DISCOLORED)THINK I WILL PASS NEXT TIME ON A 54.00$ MEAL.

The beginning of Sonny's BBQ. Good food, Great service. Loaded Tots with chopped brisket was amazing.

Food was good, but we went told we couldnt have cooked chicken (dark meat, bone-in) until 15 mins after ordering. We also couldnt have the peach cobbler because they told us they were put 30 mins after ordering. We were there for longer than necessary and didn't even get what we wanted.

I had the best of time. The waitresses were very, very nice. Well pleasant and caring. Great ribs. Ugh man, just good.

The service wasn't that good. My husband had the wings and he said they were nasty. I ordered a sliced beef sandwich and they sent out a pulled beef brisket that was very greasy. We ordered the kids mac & cheese for our 2yr old granddaughter it was $4.99 and all she got was a tiny little bowl like a side dish. We also ordered the redneck egg rolls and those weren't great either. I won't go back to this Sonny's!

The feast for four was delicious!! So much food you could ear on it for two meals. It is the best deal going!!

I usually get the salad bar, it has a nice selection and great mixed salads like crab, chicken, pasta, broccoli salads. I'm a stickler for the pineapple dream. Really like the corn muffins and corn nuggets. The ribs are tasty. Sliced or pulled chicken sandwiches are great. I like cole slaw on my sandwiches but you have to order it as your side and add it on, which is a bummer. The sweet tea is great. The redneck eggrolls are pretty good and a clever idea. The service is usually spot on. I heard a customer say this location was much better than Jacksonville's.
I gave one less star because their Mac and cheese just is never right, too saucy, runny and not cheesy. They should invest in better cheese ingredients.

Great food, great service. We went back again on 11/17/2018 after the UF football game. It was great again. We brought people who had never eaten there and they were amazed. It was a great way to end a fantastic day of Gator football. Thanks again Sonny's keep up the good work!

Food left out of order to go!!!Left Gainesville to go home to Melrose, to find coleslaw not in container. When I called them to speak with manager, the server(ALEX) lied to him saying we didn't want the coleslaw. So from now on we will be checking our orders to make sure it's complete.

I don t understand how hard it is to fry a batch of okra !!!!! You guys really let my friend down he is an ESSENTIAL worker and doesn t deserve that , And no I don t want a refund or anything just make sure y all get all the future fried okra orders CORRECT , I m done !

Consistently good food and service. Friendly staff. Hate the introduction of a bar into a family restaurant through their remodel.

The wait staff is great.
They are great about special orders. I see them double and triple checking the salad bar every time I'm there, so it isn't gross like at other places I've been. Everything is pretty fresh.
I ordered the brisket. It was a bit fatty. Like every other bite was chewy on my last visit. I had gone the year before. In fact I do once a year, every uear since I was 4. Its a family tradition during the Ren Faire. Anyway, that was the first time I had that sort of trouble.

The place is nice. Its the first one, so it still has the decor fromthe old days. Visiting its alwaysa nostalgia trip.

The wait staff is always so friendly. You see a lot of Ren Faire folk there during the event. Its located close to the fair groundsb so during events b it can get a bit crowded.

Love Sonnys. This is the original Gainesville location. Always reliable even in a pandemic.

Local classic, my dad's favorite restaurant! Service is the faster than McDonald's which is spectacular for sit down BBQ.

John is a really outstanding manager he goes above and beyond to keep customers feeling like part of the sonny's family. John turns a almost travesty into a exceptional experience. This man deserves to be recognized for his outstanding customer service. Our food was delicious once I had my yummy sweet sauce.

Spend money there ALL the time. Went there tonight and got one of mine and my moms usuals to go. The order was made wrong. Wrong type of ribs. Got garlic bread instead of cornbread. So I called them up not only simply let them know what happened but to also maybe get taken care of for that mess up at another day (Because I don't even live in Gainesville and I was home by the time I saw the meal I paid $25.00 for). The food isn't the point. I could care less. But the manager "Clayton" wouldn't even get on the phone to speak with me. And I could hear him in the background telling the girl on the phone to bring it back so he can see it..... I said I wasn't trying to load up and drive all the way back there so THEY can fix THEY'RE mess up... And he said "Denied" in the background... Disrespectful and something he wouldn't have said if I was in front of him. Awesome employees, horrible managers. Mr. Clayton you should learn some better management skills. With fu*k up managers like that you will for sure loose good paying clients.

Second time eating at Sonny's, and the food was not disappointing. I had the whole hog sandwich and fries and had to take half the sandwich home. It would have fed two.

Can t beat Sonny s! Garlic bread, sweet tea and BBQ!

It was a good experience the salad bar was fresh I wish they would bring the tuna salad back or put turkey on the bar for people with blood pressure problems

The original Sonny's, I have been eating at this location since 1969! Great sliced pork, fried okra and everything else is good to.
