Something Different Restaurant Review

My experience with Something Different Catering was horrible. I chose Something Different to cater my wedding reception. My husband and I were very pleased with the tasting of the different dishes that we sampled before our wedding and the hospitality that the owner seemed to have. Well the night of my wedding was "Something Different." The food was cold, dry, and lacked flavor. We paid over $5,000 for this horrible service. Oh and did I mention that the price we actually paid was about $2500 more than we were quoted. I reached out to the owner via telephone call, text message and even tried emailing him, with no response. This was a slap in my face, after spending over $5000 with him. I would never recommend Something Different Restaurant/Catering to anyone.

Service was amazing even though it was packed on a Sunday afternoon! And there's beautiful pottery for sale.

We got fast service even on a busy night,, everyone was very nice. Food was great

came here last night for dinner with family for the first time. absolutely loved it! service was amazing & drinks were always promptly filled without having to be asked. food was fantastic & prices are reasonable. will be coming back again to try more items on the menu!

The atmosphere waa very nice, staff was pleasant and knowledgeable, and the food was excellent. Found the restaurant by accident and will definitely be going again.

So delicious! We were in town for just the weekend. Our hotel had their menu at the front desk and we wanted to go somewhere that was nice. I'm so glad that we tried Something Different! The staff were friendly. And the service was super fast and good. Our drinks where low and 3 different people asked if they could get more drinks for us! Now that's service!

The food was so good. The staff recommend dishes from every section of the menu. I went with the low country boil. The portion of food was plenty and very well cooked and seasoned.

We had to have some of their dessert and we choose the pineapple upside down cake. I am so glad that we did! It literally melts in your mouth! When it came out the dish, it was so pretty it almost looked too good to eat but you know we had to do it anyway!

We will definitely be back when we are in the area!

This place is amazing!!! Food was great, service was great, couldn't have asked for a better place to eat! We came here for the Zoo which is probably what brings most of their clientele here. This place is a star attraction!!! LOVED IT!

I'm only giving 3 stars because they had pretty good food, I just expected more door what I paid for.. they are a little high on their prices & this would be okay if it was a reasonable portions.

Food was NOT good...burger was flavorless and small for 10.99... croutons in Caesar salad was to hard could barely bite into them...chicken also had no flavor and small for 10.99...onion rings were ok but tasted like fish...ranch was so watered down not sure if it was ranch... cream potatoes were edible...service was good...but when paying and asking how we liked it, I was honest and said I didn't like it and the person was very rude...will NOT go back nor recommend this place to anyone

My husband and I stumbled up on this place and so glad we did the Friday special was amazing the atmosphere was fantastic and service was super. I recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Asheboro area.

#gourmet. Had Christmas party there with coworkers very nice..the room we were in was small which made it rather noisey. The food was good as always.

Only bad thing about this restaurant is they open only on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday

Fresh, hot, delicious food, great service, low prices. I would give it six stars if I could, wonderful dining experience, I had a beef gyro, and it was very hot and tasty, the chef came to our table to bring the baby some finger food, you can tell he loves people, and food. Definitely check this place out! It's Something Different, because it's better than the rest.

Ambiance of "dining" more than just eating out, but not excessively "fine dining", just slightly eclectic dining. I considered the bacon crusted sirloin or the chicken salad prepared in house surrounded by fresh fruit.
But I landed on chicken cordon bleu surrounded by a few shrimp, mushrooms, broccoli, sausage bites, in a bath of Alfredo sauce w real parmesan, and no pasta ... so a low carb taste explosion.
(I try to make my Alfredo like this at home: no pasta, broccoli, peas, chicken, ham, onion, cayenne pepper.)

Best place in town for combo of decor, food, music creating ambience. The owner is very family friendly. Favorite item is wings or maybe mushroom swiss burger or chicken ziti.

Flavorful meals, sensibly priced, we have sent thousands of guests for rehearsal dinners to having weddings catered. Something Different also caters to our corporate events.
We suggest the Bacon Crusted Sirloin and all of the Pasta Dishes!

Amazing experience and a delicious dinner! My husband and I eat at a restaurant each weekend that we have never been to before...the name caught our attention! Such a great choice....we aren t local so we visited the local zoo and enjoyed dinner with our son s at Something New Restaurant .

This place was wonderful. The owner brought out free kids plates with samples of all the foods for my toddlers before we finished ordering. The food was delicious, people were nice and owner was super kind.

Got dinner there tonight and was pleasantly surprised with how great the staff was! We were seated promtly, our waitress took our order quickly, we never went without drinks and as we finished they cleaned up the table so we didn t sit with empty plates in our way.

Definitely recommend this place if you re wanting somewhere to with good food and excellent service!

Love this restaurant. I have been going here for over a decade and you can always count on delicious food and fast friendly service. Wonderful place to go with a group that has different tastes as there is something good for everyone. Highly recommend.

The food was okay but for this place to be so nice the prices have gone up but the food has gone down. The place is really nice. I would recommended it as a nice place to go

Amazing food! Owner will come right up to talk to you, thanm you for choosing his restaurant and ask you direct how was your meal, how did it tate and makes sure you have a great experience. Very nice atmosphere.

Wonderful place for lunch or dinner and what's nice is they don't close between them. No problem going for an early dinner. Food always perfect...hot when it should be hot. Wait staff always friendly and helpful when trying to make up your mind. Special one night was a prime rib which was perfectly cooked and price less than $15. Salmon with rise is moist and just right.
Desserts ... which one is hard to decide on. Great selection.

The owner runs an incredible restaurant. Everyone should try it once.

I ordered lasagna. It was okay. My husband and mother in law ordered steak and neither were impressed. Overall experience was dissappointing.

It was ok I think it was probably my husband and my tastes more than it wasn't good, I had the chicken alfredo and my husband had the lobster ravioli. The pasta tasted homemade and was good but the sauces were not what we expected. The Alfredo had an odd spice in it that I couldn't place and my husband's was like a really creamy pesto sauce which wasn't bad just unexpected since it said it was an Alfredo sauce. I also had their cup of chicken noodle soup which was really good with the homemade noodles in it. Next time I'll do the soup and grilled cheese. The atmosphere was nice and service was okay except we had different people wait on us throughout the meal so if you needed anything you weren't sure who to ask. We had the volcano brownie for desert and it was really good too. I would definitely go back and try something different the prices were reasonable and it was clean. It's right down from the zoo so the location is good too

My whole family ordered food from here and it was all so good! The variety of food is great. Really great everything. I loved the crab cakes and the amazing brownie!! We will definitely be coming back next time we re in town!

Surprisingly good food and good service from a not very appealing outside..the ribs were very tender with delicious barbecue sauce, the sandwiches were tasty, the fries really good. Only house wine and a couple of beers though.

My family met here on Sunday to celebrate my Dad's 86th birthday. I called at 12:15 on Sun to ask for a possible resevation for 1:30 pm for a party of 9. I wanted to attempt to get past the usual after church rush. I want to thank the folks @ Something Different for acommodating my request. Our table was ready, the food was fabulous, and the service was great.

My husband and I visited Something Different for dinner during a family camping trip with our 4-year-old and 1-year old. The food was fantastic; I had the lamb chops with mint jelly and baklava for dessert. I only get to eat baklava about once a year and this was good enough to last me until the next time.

Also, the environment was great for the kids. The head chef unexpectedly brought out and offered a small plate of green beans, mac & cheese, and mashed potatoes for the little one to keep her entertained until our food got there. She ate every bit of it. All of the dishes for the kids were cool to the touch. Also, as we paid at the end of the meal, our 4-year-old was presented with a few m&m's in a to-go condiment container for being so well behaved. My husband and I decided that was made them so delightfully kid-friendly was that it seemed so natural. Instead of classifying the restaurant as a whole as a 'kid' place, they simply acknowledge that kids exist and have fun with helping them to enjoy the meal without detracting from the adults' experience.

Excellent Food! We highly recommend this restaurant for great food, service, and ambiance. We have dined here for years!

Hummus was very good. Combo kabob also perfect. Kids had chix strips, grilled cheese, mac n cheese and were satisfied. No issues, great service.

A wonderful place to eat. Steaks are cooked as ordered. Wait staff if very attentive even when very busy. Owner walks through and greets every table as if you are the only people there. Stuffed chicken and crab dip are a must.

Ate here for the first time and I wasn't disappointed! I had the sirloin steak with a side salad and macaroni and cheese. The steak was tender and very flavorful; the macaroni and cheese was amazing! I had creme brulee for dessert and it was so good! The staff was very pleasant and and friendly to my sister and I. I will definitely be coming back again in the future!

This place is horrible and the owner treats his staff very bad. Pick any place in asheboro to eat but this one. He hates Americans its sad. The worst owner I have ever talked to.

pork chops nicely seasoned. The spinach dip noticeably better than typical . Great spot after a day at the zoo.

Something Different is an all-around excellent restaurant. The food is well-seasoned and I have not had any that was under or over-cooked. The staff is very attentive and very customer-oriented. The atmosphere is calming and the restaurant exceptionally clean; you will not find dust-bunnies hanging from your table light or dirt caked on to the wall decor.

The average entree is ~$10. At other restaurants the same food would be 1.5x to 2x more expensive.

A great place to go to celebrate or for no occasion at all. My favorite place in Asheboro

Locals have a treasure in their midst. Outstanding food and great service. If I lived in the area this would be my favorite restaurant. We will be back.

What a little gem this place was. Its tucked back in a little strip mall shopping center so it's kinda of hard to notice. They had quite the variety of food and everything was amazing! Will definitely visit again next time I head to the NC Zoo.

Food is always good and service is excellent. Friendly staff that can answer your questions about the menu. Excellent selection of food, from steaks to seafood or Italian dishes. If you want something different (no pun intended) then it is worth a try.

The service is very good. Quick attentive servers that know thier menu. The food was good and prices were fair.

Stayed in Asheboro two days to visit the NC Zoo. The hotel clerk recommend Something Different Restaurant as aa place to get a bite up eat. The food was reasonably priced and the stake kibobs were out of this world! We ate there both days and the food was as good the second time. Try it. You'll like it. :-)

Great food and good prices. They have a private room where you can hold events with no fee, we held my bridal shower here and it was the perfect location.
