Very expensive, horribly overcrowded. With only two bench presses and one squat rack this gym is a total joke. Parking is beyond awful you have to park a mile away to find a spot on most days. Also they keep reducing the amount of guest passes available. It's down to three passes per year, which essentially makes it useless. The only reason this "gym"exists is because they have a prime location, and they know it so they abuse the patrons who don't have anywhere else to go.

Tried the gym out with a guest pass, after a straight week of two meat heads yelling at the top of their lungs, seriously I could hear them through my headphones blasting music, I found myself completely unable to enjoy my workout. No staff seems to care that these gorillas make everyone else in the gym a little uneasy, I can see it in people s faces it s absolutely hilarious. Someone please let these guys know they are in a family facility in Basking Ridge, not on Muscle Beach in Venice - welp guess I ll try another gym

I come to this Y twice a week. It is great. There is plenty of equipment and they have my favorite bikes and elipitcals here. The Front Desk Staff is really nice here. The pool is really cool since they have three including one with water slides.

The pool admin named Andrew and Jessica are very rude. They kicked us out of the pool because of no youth lane for my kids and never refund the membership fees. The pool has many unreasonable rules. Kids can only go to the family pool which opens 3 days, 3 hours/day and always very crowded. Kids under 11 years old cannot go to lap swimming even though the kids can swim more than 50 yards on their own.
The swimming levels they assigned does not make sense. The coach for the group lesson does not even know how to teach. Just wasting the money and time. The private lesson need at least 1 to 2 years waiting for the availability of coach/space. The staff never email you back or call you back when something need to be sorted out. The service does not match the membership fees. Avoid this YMCA if want to swim/Learn to swim.

They have a good aquatic program and other sports programs, but administrative staff is quite incompetent. Other than smile, they don't seem to be able nor willing to do anything to help, especially when it comes to accounting and billing. My son was offered 7th-grade free membership, shortly after we have already paid their regular membership dues. After we requested the refund for the months that overlapped with the free-membership period (over payment), they started to bounce us from one staff member to the other, none of which were able nor willing to help us.

To make things worse, each staff member gave us different answer that included "we don't refund memberships" (i.e., 7th grade "free" membership is just here to fool us), "we have already refunded you" (false statement), "fill out more forms" (wearing us out with more paperwork), "talk to our executive director" (hoping that we will just give up and go away), or just plain ignoring us. The issue is still unresolved.

The ymca is Great. Lots of equipment. There are 3 pools and the hours are extensive considering it is in basking ridge. The only issue is this ymca is very very busy which is a good thing for them but sometimes a little hard to find parking. Etc. that being said the staff are friendly and helpful.

Updating currently this YMCA is under construction due to a need fo make the rooms larger. So you have to be patient ... you can still work out bht need to understand construction....hopefully by September 2018 they should be done...
Staff again is friendly

Been going here five days a week for nearly six years. The new renovations are great. A majority of the staff is very personable and friendly. They strive to make the Y a family friendly atmosphere where people from all walks of life are welcome. All in all, a great YMCA.

Received a 1 week trial. Went to swim the first day at 6am. The first pool was packed. The second pool should have been opened with another lifeguard. Waited 45 minutes for the second life guard with 10 other people then I left.

This location has very friendly staff, an extensive selection of group exercise classes, nice swimming pools, and even a spacious area to sit and work while the kids take classes. The kidz corner is great and the staff seem to enjoy watching the kids. They are doing renovations at this location and the new yoga, spinning, trx studios are beautiful.

Meh. Don t go this place. I once went here for summer camp. We swam after we ate, and that was why I couldn t swim. And I was little then but I couldn t stand changing into my bathing suit.

I also remember when I took swimming lessons they made me and my bro hold my breath, when we were four. I didn t know how to hold my breath at that time, and also I remember this coach that she would make us do everything right.

The family locker room is so much better for your family, so buy that if you hate revealing your whole exterior.

But overall an okay place to stay. There are slides and a pool for the adults. But I won t remember my experience

The gym is not designed for weight lifters, period. You can see that the free weight section was an afterthought. Once the new gym in Bridgewater is built I may be dropping this place like a hot potato, and so should every other serious weight lifter.

The gym has one squat rack, so if someone else is using it you have to sit for 20 minutes while they finish. One squat rack, and probably 200 treadmills, bikes and ellipticals. Seems fair, right?

Not enough free weight benches. No seat for a seated dumbbell press. No lying leg press.

However, if you are interested in doing worthless Nautilus machine workouts, they have plenty of machines available.

This gym was designed for the casual gym goer. It s the worst equipped gym I ve ever seen, which is probably due to the lack of any local competition. And membership prices go up ever year. For what?

Its unfathomable how the decision to close Riverwalk came to be made. Now that the members of both locations have to share the same facility, parking is virtually impossible...
I did bump up the review to 3 stars because the people who work here really do try their best to keep everyone happy. Tony made my night yesterday by showing me around all the new machines.

I have some concerns regarding an incident that occurred here at the Mt. Airy Road facility this past Saturday, March 10th. My husband had recently lost his keys somewhere in our townhouse complex. Fortunately for us our neighbor found them. Upon examining the keys he saw the YMCA keyring and so he brought them in to the facility in order to try and return them to their owner. The front desk attendant was able to scan the keyring and informed our neighbor that the keys belonged to my husband. Our neighbor then offered to return those keys to him since he knows us, but the attendant said that they would take care of it and call my husband to let him know. This call never came.
My husband ran into our neighbor recently and the neighbor then asked if he had received his keys and informed him of their whereabouts. Last Saturday, March 10th around 1pm my husband went to this facility in search of his keys and was attended by a woman who, without searching, told him they did not have any keys for him and was extremely rude. He then asked if there was a Lost and Found and she brought him a box of lost items without any keys inside. He then asked if there was a place where just keys were kept and so she showed him a box with keys, which again did not contain his keys. At this time he asked if she could please check to see if there was any other place that these keys could be, she then looked inside a nearby drawer and found his keys, which she tossed towards him. During this whole process the attendant was extremely rude and condescending. After his keys were throw towards him, he asked the woman if there was a problem and why was she being so rude. Before she could answer another attendant approached him stating that there was no problem. At this time he decided that it was best to leave rather than stay and continue to be treated with disdain and disrespect and the staff began to raise their voices and asked my husband for his name. He returned to give them his name but because he was so upset at how he had been treated he neglected to ask for the attendant s name.
I am sharing all of this because I am absolutely disgusted with the way that this situation was handled and because we have since decided to cancel our family membership at this facility. I was under the impression that the YMCA prided itself on being a community organization that embraced culture and diversity but there is no other explanation than to assume that he was treated in this way because of the color his skin. I wanted the public to be aware that there are people working at the front desk that are treating the paying clients of the YMCA organization in this way. Unfortunately this is still happening in 2018, and at the YMCA no less!

I've been there many times and its clean. when you walk in the workers say "hello". But if you do anything bad they get get mad way too easily. In the pool area the two slides are only open on the weekend which is pretty silly because i go there during the week. i have better things to do during the weekend.

A friend of mine was asked to LEAVE the place cause she was wearing a NORMAL GYM T-SHIRT.

The staff not just said it was very revealing but also (like if it wasn t enough) said it in front of everyone else humiliating her for wearing (like a said before) a NORMAL GYM T-SHIRT.

SHAME ON YOU!
I d never recommend this place.

Mr. Hill the owner of this company knows his Mt. Airy or Mayberry from the Andy Griffith Show. His own father was a Barber at Floyds Barber Shop right across from where the business is located on main street. The information you receive on this tour is factual and I have no reason to believe otherwise. Mr. Hill was born and raised right there in Mount Airy, NC in the county of Surry. When you visit Mayberry be sure to ride in a piece of history, a 1931 Model A Ford. Yall Come See them Yah Hear. Aunt Bea would be proud of you.

I like the "facility" and its really close to my home. I have membership for years. Just watch out if you hurt yourself. You should contact the facility ASAP. The facility won't be able to credit anything back to you for the period that you are unable to use the facility due to a medical situation. Though when you got hurt, notifying YMCA is probably the last thing comes in your mind until you are recovered, it is the Y policy to notify them as soon as it happened.

I came here with my school daily, Montgomery Academy for swimming and physical education classes, and also basketball games. P.S. I was on the basketball team when I went to school here for four years in a row.

I like the facilities but they are so far from my house that I found that we (our family) rarely used them. Nice people though.

So I signed up with NitroFlex Gym in Chester yesterday.

The only annoying thing about the YMCA is that when I called to cancel my membership (on 12/16/14) they said they were going to whack my credit card again on January 1, 2015 and that it actually cancel effective January 31, 2015. Seems a bit harsh and unnecessary. Sort of like a 'gotcha' on the way out. And not really nice. Yeah, I am sure it was in the agreement that I signed up with, but it doesn't really make it ethical.

In the last 25 years I belonged to six different YMCAs in 2 states. This Y is heads above those others and compares favorably to university gyms I have visited such as the Sonny Werblin at Rutgers and the Leach Center at FSU.

Check out the web site for all amenities but I have enjoyed the rock climbing wall and the children's pool where I bring my kids. Also the onsite cafe has fabulous coffee drinks (be careful not to add back all your calories burned). Finally I love the centrifugal bathing suit dryer, haven't seen one of these since Rutgers.
