The hotel is currently undergoing improvements and work continues past 10pm so all you can hear in certain rooms is constant hammering & drilling etc. When we asked what time the works would cease for the day we were advised that they weren t sure! We were not Advised of any disruption in advance and consequently had to change rooms late at night in order to get some sleep. Whilst the new room ( at the other end of the hotel was quiet I was not impressed to find clumps of black hair floating in the toilet bowl .
We found both the mattress and pillows to be very soft and uncomfortable and consequently woke up exhausted. Not likely to stay again

After trawling the net for a short notice break away for the weekend, I stumbled across the Solant web site and read a few reviews. Called and spoke to Sally who was so helpful and took care of everything. Getting away isn t easy for us as we have so many commitments but glad we found this gem. Staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Refreshing to see staff so happy in their work and who genuinely cared about the customer s experience. Won t be long before we head back, for a few days this time. Junior Suite comes highly recommended Traditionally decorated with everything you would need in a room.

Car park is very large, so no problem parking...the rooms are clean and tidy but a little bit dated, and we found them quite dark as there seems a lack of lights in them....the spa area is quite nice though...staff are very nice and friendly..there is a very nice bar area and restaurant, but we have never eaten an evening meal or had drinks there as there is a great pub just across the road from the hotel..we have had breakfast here though and that was very good although very busy and noisy...we ate in the conservatory at the back of the hotel which was a lot quieter...all in all quite a nice hotel overall though..

Love the fact that they had a separate vegan menu. All seemed very modern, until you got to the bedroom, which was in need of an update. All very clean and felt very safe in the current COVID situation.

I reported an issue with my heating cooling system in my room to the front desk 4 times. It never worked properly for my entire week-long stay. The Jacuzzi and Steam room kept breaking down which was also very disappointing. The room is desperately in need of updating. The carpet and furniture is stained and old. The bed was VERY uncomfortable- very hard.

Firstly the room was a great size and the bed really comfortable.
But...
What I thought I d booked was a relaxing and tranquil break at a hotel spa what we got was clearly a no age limit in the spa pool and shared it with 15 children under the age of 10.
The male changing room was turned into a female one as theirs was out of order so you had to walk all the way back to your room in soaking wet shorts.
We had a fire alarm evacuation whilst there and this seemed a complete shambles as there seemed to be no staff present at the exit or in the car park so after 5 mins we got in our car and drove round the corner to eat, and absolutely no mention or apology on check out.

I liked this place. I stayed here with my two sons on a trip to portsmouth. Every member of the staff that I met was courteous and efficient.

Calling it a "spa" is overgenerous. It has a rinky dink pool and a luke warm jacuzzi. I don't really understand pool economics. They had plenty of empty space to make the pool a regular 25 m job, but instead it was only about 12 m long. What's the point?

There was a game room, but nothing worked there. I think that it is better not to have a game room then to have such a crappy one.

You definitely get the feeling that they want to please you. The room is comfortable and clean and there are lots of nice little extras like a GOOD tea and snack waiting in the room, cookies for the kids.

They sell themselves as a destination. It is not. As an overnight place on the road, it is a nice and welcome step up from the roadside places, and though it costs more than the travelodge, it is not so much more expensive, and I think worth the extra cost. BUT, it is not a spa, and the pool needs to be twice the size.

Nice hotel, Spa treatments are great. Food isnt.

Rooms are a little dated but ours was perfectly nice to use however i paid to upgrade so i would not like to think what the cheaper room was.

Right by Whitely which is good.

Tried the pub next door (linked to hotel i believe) which was awful service and had to walk out leaving meals

A decent hotel, if a little dated. The rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfast was very nice. The spa looked well equipped but I didn't use it. Was a little on the expensive side all things considered

Everything was great. Post Covid opening it seemed normal and that s a good thing. Good sized rooms, the kids loved the pool and their packs laid out on the beds, the teas and some milk - those little touches don t go unnoticed. It s not the cheapest but it s well worth it. Bathroom good, excellent shower, lots of relevant artwork but not overbearing at all, just the right tone to remind you where you are, staff helpful and friendly, easy to park, can t fault it at all.

This is my first ever review but because of the lack of customer care given during a visit on a Friday evening I felt I had to address this.

BAR PRICING - FALSE CHARGES BEWARE

When purchasing drinks from the bar myself and others from our table were over charged dramatically each time we went to the bar.

Upon querying this with a member of staff they explained that we were being charged for small bottles of coke , we did not receive these bottles of coke but one bottle was used for all three drinks but you are charged for three complete bottles!

After watching this happen again and again I queried this practice with the Bar Supervisor who whilst apologised said yeah sorry you caught us out !!!!

Appalling service and practice by the hotel , was not the experience I was expecting and myself and our party will never visit this hotel again .

Have been going to this hotel for 20+ years ,and over the years there standards have dropped.
On our latest visit the towels in spa area were hard.
people coming down for breakfast in there dressing growns.
food running out( no milk, ham, cheese, bread for toasting and pastries).
also had to finish laying the table as the waiter went to service someone else.

Disappointed with the restaurant.

Disappointed with the restaurant.

I called up the hotel for a small request on Thursday 29th March at 13:44. I spoke to Gemma who added details of the date/time of the visit. I needed specific milk that can be sourced from nearby Tesco for health reasons. This would be used for the breakfast on Tuesday 3rd April.

On the morning of the visit I visited the restaurant. They said they didn't have the item. There was still time to get the item from Tesco but when one staff member said to get it, others were not willing to make the journey.

Given the hotel had been notified of the situation and the cost of the item was inexpensive, what reason does the hotel have to ignore this request?
