Solent Hotel and Spa Review

Very relaxing stay, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the grounds and spa facilities looked great, wish we had the opportunity to take advantage of these. Parking was easy and despite turning up fairly late we managed to get a spot close to the reception. Restaurant food was good quality but it took a while for the food to make it to the table after ordering, assume covid19 related issues as the staff seemed disappointed with themselves and were extremely apologetic. I would stay again.

Rooms with plenty of room and plenty of amenities available to guest.

I attended a function last weekend and the food was excellent, hot, well presented and very tasty. The decor was very nice and the staff efficient, although they didn't smile much! Great venue and superb evening. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Spent a day at this hotel on a training awayday with work. How lucky were we? The facilities were excellent with a really good selection of snacks & drinks & the lunch was superb.

Love the hotel's facilities the only thing that brings it down sometimes is the mix service you get. Some if fantastic and others can't be bothered

We meet here for our BNI Fortress Fareham breakfast. Food is always great and the staff on top form

Very good facilities. Poorly managed staff in the spa area. There seem to be a lot of bodies in a hurry but noone when you need assistance. Spa afternoon tea was very good food but it was delayed, staff were flustered and names and times were incorrectly arranged.
4* for facilities, 2* for poor staff and customer management.

Attended a wedding here, a great venue and a lovely place to stay......a plus that you can use the spa facilities while there, even on the day you check out.

Food was fine, but erratic levels of service and bewildering choices in the dining hall made our breakfast a frustrating experience. Cannot speak to the accomodation.

The manager went out of his way to sort out a personal problem I had and his team were so helpful.

Lovely spa day, massage was great. Afternoon tea was ok but the cake was dry, which was a shame and more pool side seating needed. Would come back

Went for a wedding reception. Lovely inside, clean and friendly. Extortionate drinks prices and drops a star for being extremely slow at the bar.

Stunning hotel rooms and lovely spa. The ladies doing the treatments are very lovely too. Overall, a very relaxing place.

the room had a few quirks and the bar needed more careful cleaning between customers, but overall a very pleasant stay in a lovey hotel.

Nothing worked it was dirty room, dirty cutlery, no one really to help, really we should have a refund, they were closed for 4 months, surely they should be ready to wcone guests with a new clear start

Unbelievable host's an fabulous Junior Suite Room, Flowers and we had the most excellent room service.

Nice couple of nights, and the adjoining bar had some great beers on tap.

A nice spar afternoon. Facilities were top quality. Unfortunately there were children allowed in the pool area making it a little less relaxing than desired. Massage by Tatiana was exceptional

Although the hotel is under going some renovations meeting for a coffee is still an enjoyable experience, downsides are crowded at the moment and the coffees are pricy

Awesome staff and the food was sublime, the surroundings and decor are a little dated but nice.

Friendly, well run hotel with great pool. Have stayed here multiple times, always a good stay.
Hotel does deals with nearby Paulton's Park (Peppa Pig World) - you can book weekend breaks through Paulton's with included hotel. Definitely recommend the Solent for this.

Beautiful place, had an amazing and relaxing weekend. Staff were the best ever.

Fantastic!!! You can't fault it, the staff or hotel in general. Lovely hotel, clean, foods good and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Exceptionally friendly staff. 5* service.
We came on a great secret escapes deal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. On arrival, we were made to feel comfortable and welcome by the reception staff. The stylish room allowed me to finish off some work before the weekend could begin. We strolled down to the well-appointed spa where we were met by another friendly team that helped orient us to the facilities. Dinner in the stylish restaurant was a real step up from hotels of a similar standard, and there were plenty of reservations from non-guest diners. I am not a fan of buffets, but the seafood on offer made me forget my ambivalence and tuck in! The cuisine fully deserving of its AA rosette. We enjoyed a decent bottle of wine and didn't feel rushed by the friendly waiting staff, who give the hotel a relaxed identity kitted out in a cool striped 'uniforms'.
Breakfast the next day was served again in the terrace restaurant (which sadly the weather denied us the opportunity to eat al fresco). We were encouraged to order the butterfly smoked kippers special, and that was a real treat. The kitchen was clearly not interested in peddling congealed egg under heat lamps.
The hotel was hosting a wedding and 40th birthday party, but at no point did we feel the staff were conflicted or under-resourced.
I felt comfortable staying in and around the hotel all weekend and, except for dinner on Saturday night, that's exactly what we did. We left feeling refreshed and relaxed. Congrats Solent Hotel!

After booking myself and my husband in for a full body massage last week for my husband's birthday treat I'm afraid I cannot recommend this as value for money. I was told it would be an hours treatment. We were taken into the treatment room More

A very nice hotel, big bedrooms and excellent breakfasts.

A pleasant enough place with a nice gym, but several details were disappointing. No hairdryer in the bedroom drawer labelled 'Hairdryer;' a long queue for breakfast; being made to wait for half an hour despite having a dinner reservation.

Great food. Undergoing refurbishment around the Bar area at the moment, but plenty of places to have a quiet bar snack

Comfortable and comfortable rooms. The single bed, a bit narrow but comfortable and with two pillows. It has a pub at the entrance to eat and drink. Full bathroom, with separate hair dryer, but no magnifying mirror. Anti-fog main mirror. Price according to the site and benefits.

Needs to seperate the Spa from the hotel to make it a relaxing spa day. Aerobics and kicked out the pool is not what you would expect. Great facial and food, spa staff very helpfull.

dirty cups in room and used cleaning gloves left in the bed, could not fit us in for dinner or to use the pool even when calling 4 days prior to booking. Room was rather tight for space, we booked a family room and it wasn't very family friendly seen as there was a step in the room that the children constantly trip over. Every time we called we got different info regarding breakfast and when we did get it, it was cold. Overall a bit dissatisfied.

Haven't been in a few years. And so looking forward to have a night a way. As I had respite night from my disabled daughter. 17/08/18. Well disappointed is a understatement. Wait 30 mins for the room to be ready. And this is because we approach the receptionists again. (She had forgotten about us!) Was very happy with the room in till we sat down and relaxed. And the place away so dirty with thick dust it was untrue. Upon having a bath I then found so much ground in dirt around handles of the bath and drainage ring. Which I could scratch off with my nail.(I soon got out!) Tried to call front desk to complain but after a hour and no answer we gave up! Also all the small extras that make a 4* Was no more. Ended up going to the bar to order food so we could take to our room. For them to inform us they do room service. We thought they had stopped due to no info in the room let alone a menu. Satf nice enough. But slow, Unwelcoming. Apart from taking order. They wouldn't talk or make a conversation. Was going to book for the meal and disco on the 7th September. But put off by the way things have gone down hill. P.s small things matter.

I'm always happy staying at the Solent. Rooms are always clean, large and have fantastic food in the restaurant.

Very nice hotel, it's amazing inside and not what I expected at all. The food in the restaurant was beautiful, and the staff were excellent. Highly recommended.
