The Resort is conveniently located and has breath taking scenery. The staff is beyond phenomenal. EVERYONE is friendly and goes above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable and have everything you need. HIGHLY recommended!

Had a great honeymoon!! Stayed in both beach and overwater bungalows. Loved the overwater one but both were nice. Lots of Sex!!! But no warm water (besides the ocean) can't wait to return!!

Exceptional staff, great coral garden, very good activity desk. Renovation is ongoing, so the somewhat tired facilities should soon be better.

the most beautiful resort has never been calm beauty of the sea then the over water is something indescribable the possesses then to take the canoe and go to the sofitel motu another paradise I hope to return with the family as soon as possible

Excellent service, very friendly staff, what I like most are the details that are included in the cost of the room, such as free frigobar and coffee capsules.

Rented a small boat from the Sofitel Hotel. Great activity and no issues with the rental.

Do Not Book this resort!!!! They are closed and still accepting reservations!!! They will leave you without a place to go. They did not notify us of the closer. We just happened to check back with them and found out they were closed.

For half of the holiday we had cockroaches in the bed ... otherwise the place is nice, but the beach is very small so the sun disappears too early. But we still couldn't forgive for the cockroaches, too bad because the food was good. This used to happen in 2011 now I don't know if they fixed it.

Couldn't have picked a more beautiful, serene, clean, quiet, peaceful location for our honeymoon. A short swim from our bungalow and we were surrounded by thousands of colorful fish and gorgeous coral.

Cozy but slightly dated bungalows .... with magnificent views.
Friendly and welcoming staff.
The pool bar offers good fish dishes.
The restaurant is very nice ... where it offers different types of food.
Good and plentiful breakfast.
Possibility to take le.canoe ... or take a ride on the catamaran if anything to see the sunset ..... fantastic

Went there with friends and thought that Sofitel has always exemplary service. Absolutely service from the Restaurant is totally a crap. I will not recommend it nor going back there again.
We considered it as the reputation of Sofitel back home is excellent.
Apparently not all the hotels holding the brand has the same service.
The money is not worth it at all.
Waiters don't even know how to properly communicate with the guest and easily get irritated when they didn't understand what they are saying (of course you cannot expect everyone how to speak in French)
Suggestion: At least they should know how to communicate well in English and bear smile to your guest. Plus internet is so slooowwww.

Absolutely breath taking. We had a great time there. We stayed in the overwater bungalow it was well worth it.

this place sucks, food was awful, service peoples were salty with me, and there ended up being only one bed after i booked a three bedroom house.

It is in spare. It is very nice and with good bar service and restoran. The attention is impeccable.

Spent some of our honeymoon here over Christmas 2016. We had the best time. The resort is definitely showing signs of age and is in need of some renovations. In the end we weren't there for the hotel room, we were there for the view and it can't be beat from the Sofitel Marara.

Magical place, the attention of the staff is exceptional very warm people, the Buffet very complete and a beautiful view.

Sofitel Private Island surpassed my dreams of a perfect south pacific holiday.

The hotel treated me very good. They upgraded my room free of charge, offered nice tours and the staff was friendly and caring. The food was good and the entertainment fun. Although not the cheapest, I definitively would recommend this hotel.

Every evening a little attention in the room in the form of biscuits or chocolate.
The soft drinks and beer was included in the mini bar, which is a sensation on Bora Bora.
The transfer by boat to the main island for free, which makes every other hotel in Bora Bora expensive to pay.

Hotel Sofitel is located on the south side of the main island, close to the famous Matira point, considered as one of the most beautiful beach in the world. The hotel situated only 10 kilometres away from the main city of Vaitape, offers you a breathtaking view on the lagoon, but also on the impressive Mt Otemanu and Pahia. Hotel Sofitel is on the inner island and not the Motu s surrounding Bora Bora making tourists access to restaurants easy compared to an expensive water taxi. We haven t stayed here as was one of our stops during our island private tour but location is placed in an unbelievable location which could be anyone s holiday dream looking for a special place surrounded by turquoise water and beautiful coral gardens!

Great place! Good cabins (furniture could be more modern), great varity of activities to do. Very friendly service.

From 1pm there is little sun so it is recommended to walk to Matira beach.

Always a truly special and wonderful place to go to. The staff is so welcoming and attentive. The location is the best on the island.

The sun ends at 12:00 pm, the internet is very bad, the bar service leaves a lot to be desired and the worst of all are the keys to the room never lock .. and the price is more than u $ s 300 The night nothing cheap

Great hotel, private beach not the best of bora bora but with all the services.
Being surrounded by nature do not worry if there are insects, geckos, cats and small doves.

A beautiful island housed in a beautiful hotel with friendly staff

Iaorana, I stayed here for 3 nights and it was just grand. You have to live it to understand it. an exceptional lagoon, a wonder for the eyes, a warm welcome and Polynesians of great generosity and very smiling. everything was perfect from beginning to end. Not to mention the romantic dinner prepared by a great chef, a delight ... I do not regret the many hours of flight because it's worth the detour ... an experience to do once in his life. Mauururu

Excellent hotel, excellent location, excellent attention of the perasonal. On admission we had difficulties with the reservation and the management resolved the problem very favorably. Breakfast an absolute 10 with a variety of options and excellent dinner. There are buffet twice a week and show included. Food suitable for celiacs available. There is internet in all the facilities and it works perfect. They offer water without charge every day.

I went to 2005. The room was clean and the furniture was broken.
The service is normal. Dinner was a hotel on the other side.

Given some reviews I thought worse to be honest. Not up to par with other bora bora resorts but overall a good experience. Good breakfast and dinner at the restaurant, although not very varied with appetizers composed almost exclusively of raw fish.

Beautiful overwater bungalows ... every tsg be filled up for drinks ... Unfortunately the food is not worth the expensive prices ... prefer to overflow to Maitai ... there we ate great ... in Sofitel Ravioli ordered fpr 35Euro ... .4 ravioli on a can of stick sauce ... where the gold stings please ... urgently learn to cook again ...

Best month of my life!
I originally planned to stay here for one week. ended up staying for a month! it was the most incredible time I've ever had in my life, peaceful and quite. Just what I needed at the time. I stayed at the club Med which is no longer there but the entire island was where I actually felt I was.

Took a jeep tour through the jungle, talked to the locals spent time in little tiny grocery stores along the side of the road and never felt more at home.
At the end of each week I kept calling my travel agent and requesting one more week please!

I arrived after spending a few weeks in the Caribbean. as much as I love the Caribbean for their diving and snorkeling you can't beat Bora Bora. If it's on your bucket list please move it to the top you will not be disappointed.

Network Resource of relatively affordable (up to 1000 per night). Everything is very dignified and had no regrets.

Simple room, with a mini fridge. Drinks in the fridge were free of charge and in the evening they bring macaroons to your room. Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere.

We had an amazing experience in the Sofitel Bora Bora Marara. It was my partner s birthday and PiPi our server in the morning prepared an birthday cake for her. Awesome start to her birthday.

Located on main island of bora bora, very close to vaitape, which is the downtown and hub of good restaurants. Hotel is good but old, wear and tear is quite noticeable. We had mixed experience with staff. Few of Them were quite rude. This place is also close to sofitel private island, you can kayak to the famous coral reef and snorkel but you cannot go and venture into private island without a day pass.

Superb ... a dream location where everything is perfect

The spectacular landscape is incomparable can not be described with words. Very good service and rich food. The only bad thing is that booking says they speak Spanish and it's not like that but we still understand them

We had a great time kitesurfing and staying here. The staff was nice and the breakfast buffet kept my stomach full until dinner.

Great staff and a very pleasent space to enjoy the amazing ocean's shades of blue and green... the pool bar is also good. Bungalows are spectacular; very quiet and perfect to relax! a place to never forget!!!

Absolutely beautiful place! Everyone is super friendly and happy. The little beach huts were just so precious. I loved the showers- very spacious and good water pressure. The bed was heavenly. One of the best sleeps I have had. If it wasn't such a beautiful destination I would have curled up there the entire time.

We also saw the show the one night and it was out of this world. Definitely a must if you come to this side of the world. It's mind blowing the way they can move their bodies. The traditional food cooked that night was also excellent. Seconds were a definite.

The hotel offered free shuttles to the islands restaurants in the evening for dinner which is great if you are adventurous with cuisines.

We also got a boat trip to the private island which is also postcard perfect. And they have a really cute little beach set up.

The only let down was the breakfast every morning. It would run out and no one was really there to replenish. Probably due to under staffing with the renovations that are ungoing. The manager received the negative comments well and immediately looked into the reasons behind the problem. He was extremely approachable and apologetic.

All in all though. It was a phenomenal little peace of paradise. I would definitely come back. Looking forward to seeing all the progress with the renovations

Arrival by plane, pick up your suitcases and access directly on the boat of the hotel is magic.
The bungalows are clean and comfortable.
The staff is at the small care as in all Polynesia.

Pool small and poorly placed between the bar and the restaurant: shame.
The sandy beach has sunbeds but disappointing. We expect better at the edge of the lagoons.
Beautiful beach 10 minutes walk left out of the hotel.
Cruel lack of animation in the evening and nothing around. Lying 21h.
Watch out for stray dogs.
Small grocery store 5 minutes walk.
Negotiate the price of taxis to get to the city, quite expensive.
Avoid the tattoo artist near the hotel.

The Hotel Sofitel Bora Bora Marara Beach Resort is the perfect place to relax and have tons of fun. We stayed there on our last trip to Bora Bora, and I cannot think of a better place on the island: great beach, snorkeling, easy access to motus, beautiful garden rooms, fantastic food, and much more.

We stayed at the private island but we had access to this part of the hotel too. Pool was great, staff was friendly.

Awesome place. From the moment we arrived on the boat to the time that we left, we had never felt more taken care of. Greeted with coconuts, we stayed at an overwater bungalow for a few nights. Overwater bungalow is amazing because there aren't that many on Private Island, and they feel so secluded. Views from deck were amazing, and the ability to snorkel from your room is amazing. Room came with snorkel gear and flippers. Paddle boards and kayaks were free to use at your disposal to move around the lagoon.

What's great about the private island is there are so few people, you can really get away. FYI, to go to stores or anything on the 'main island' you need to take the boat back and forth.

Couldnt recommend more, loved our stay here.

This is the island of wonders, where everyone would like to be at least once in their life, and my wife and I had the privilege of going on their honeymoon in 2012. A dream place, the photos don't do them justice. I often dream of being able to return.

Heaven in Earth is barely a description! There was not a piece of trash anywhere and the local people were all happy and seemed content. They realize that they live in heaven.

Do not book at this Resort!!! They are closed because of renovation it would be nice to let the people that are booked their know that they don't have a place to go to when they arrive I booked there months in advance and with no notice on their website and they're actually still taking bookings very deceitful. I had to scramble within 24 days before my arrival to find something else on Bora Bora I ended up spending thousands of dollars more to find something with such short notice.

Excellent hotel good to enjoy a good holiday in Bora Bora. The breakfast is great.
