This is a letter of acknowledgement of truly superior customer service from one of your Loan Servicing Agents, Miss Lauren Mondell. I have reached out to her several times because of our positive initial interaction. When I find a truly helpful person with a company, I try to get in touch with them if I have further inquiries. Lauren is one of these special persons. I am a business person and frequently call companies for assistance. Being "old school", am totally frustrated by all the Push 1 for ..., then Push 3 for ..., etc. By the time I reach a human, I usually have to apologize for being in a confrontational place and ask for patience until I cool down. This brings me back to Miss Mondell. First, she's patient and listens to my question. Then she answers directly. She doesn't jump off and spout some canned reply. She has proven to be very knowledgeable and has fielded a variety of questions over the past couple of years. We sold the property, so won't be dealing with Socotra Capital any more. I must say, interacting with Socotra thru Ms Mondell was a breath of fresh air among my dealings by phone with numerous companies. I wish Miss Mondell the best of luck in the future. Bill Benton

The worst lending organization I have ever dealt with. They lied to me about a loan and had a newbie, Nichole, work with me on a fixer loan, and she had JUST got her license. She tried to get escrow to hurry and get the purchase closed before the REO had even signed the contract. Obviously she did not know what she was doing. She and her sup hooked me in by saying I was approved for one amount (not putting it in writing to me) and came way down later on approval amount, but I would not have any funds to fix it up. She did this after I was in a non-refundable auction deal. I had to start all over with another lender and almost lost the deal because of her lies. Not only that, but she required I used one of their appraisers who ended up not appraising the home for as much as she verbally told me it will appraise for after seeing it. She had done the preliminary work on it also. I believe they work together on this. PS, I did find it in writing to the seller as far as an approval of the original amount. This company likes to do things verbally, so things are not in writing.

Socotra has two sides to their business; lending money out and investing money in. I have never borrowed money from Socotra but have invested in their fund for a while. Having tried to do hard money loans myself, I realized the risk and complexity of these deal. Socotra manages those processes and risks, making it a great way to get into hard money lending without the headaches. The team is extremely professional, manages expectations well and does a great job of communications. This is a stand up team, provide a great solutions on both sides. Matt Yu and his team are life savers! I m a real estate agent and was representing a Seller when I had the pleasure of working with Matt. The lender the Buyer was originally working with was unable to close the loan after repeatedly assuring all parties involved that it wouldn t be a problem. Fast forward 50 days, the Buyers were in jeopardy of losing $48,000 due to their original lenders poor guidance and were introduced to Matt. Within 7 days of meeting Matt, he got the loan closed.
