Great service and good food, the terrace is quite enjoyable!

We rented the private room on the lower floor. It was very intimate and the staff was completely attentive and friendly. All of the guests in our party enjoyed their meals. The wine and charcuterie board at the start was also great.

Excellent service, exceptional menu. I highly recommend it.

I went to Social to look for a quiet place to enjoy my night with good ambience and good food to match. I'm glad to say I found what I was looking for in the delicious food and the drinks were a perfect pair. A huge thank you to the staff behind my experience and I'm looking forward to everytime I visit Social.

Good place to gather with friends and actually be able to sit down and chat. The drinks are overpriced and of average quality.

Service was good. Atmosphere was good. Decor was great. Love private spaces they have for groups. They have a few that can accommodate different sizes. So it's perfect for a company dinner or even dinner with larger friend groups.

Rude staff. They push the bill on you. The bartender lady was also not friendly. We felt unwelcomed here.

Excellent food, wine pairings and warm and personalised service in a cozy and cordial setting. The duck confit, steak frites and Pacific salmon were all perfectly cooked and presented. Todd who helped us at the table was welcoming, knowledgeable about the food and drinks and super professional. Bravo!

I have the BEST memories of meals at Social. So we wandered down to the market this summer to recreate delicious dinners that I still think about.

Our meal started well with spicy margaritas. They were perfectly mixed with the right amount of bite.

Our starter salad featured a burrata that tasted like it hadn't been fully formed. The consistency was kind of like cream cheese. It was weird. But the tomatoes in the salad were delicious.

Then our mains came. My guest's porkchop was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and tender with just a touch of pink. The flavours of the dish worked well together.

I had the salmon and it has been cooked to death. It was like cardboard. I would have mentioned it to the server but we hadn't seen her since the first course (a runner brought our dinners).

We finished by splitting the yogurt cheesecake, which was light and refreshing and felt like the only hold over from the restaurant I remembered.

I miss Social. Whatever changes in direction, focus, or leadership that it has undergone in the past few years, I hope it makes a change for the better soon. I miss the beautiful meals that I once had there.

Good service, good food and drinks, upscale atmosphere, yet comfortable. The courtyard patio is illuminated at night. Frequent stops here .

Great spot for dinner in the market. Service was fantastic and friendly. Food was delicious and the menu changes often. Great drink selection as well. My only issue was the price. You pay the "market tax" cause of the location.

Despite the expensive menu, I am still giving this place 5 stars because that is the price you would expect of a restaurant like this. The service was great, the atmosphere nice, and the food delicious.

Out of stock on all their wines. Staff had very poor knowledge ( thought kronenberg was local ). Realized after tipping 20% that they had already added 18%.

They have a great happy hour every day from 3-6pm. The frog legs and calamari are both tasty. There's always a great beer on tap!

We went for lunch and ended staying there for dinner too as the service and food was just amazing. We've been served by Lauren, and she was so lovely and attentive. Will visit again. Also with Covid restrictions we felt really safe with seating arrangement and the service.

Went today for lunch. Asked for two salads: stake and chicken. The stake one had only 4 little pieces of stake, maybe four onion slicea and 2 olives. The rest was lettuce. The chicken salad was served with a rotten avocado. Again, only a few pieces of chicken. Really terrible food.

Wish all the restaurants in Ottawa follow the standards that servers follow went there for my friends birthday and it was the best service I experienced in a long time all the people were soo friendly this is my go to place for cocktail and drinks highly recommended !!!!!!!!!

Staff is friendly and awesome! My girlfriend's friend was having her marriage at the location. It was a bit small for the crowd, but it was a great atmosphere being there.

Very tasty food. Oh my god this food is extraordinary. I need daily this food. I am the fann of this food and taste.

Great little bar + restaurant for drinks and dinner right on the edge of Byward Market. I had the lamb which was a little overcooked for me (i like mine really on the rare side) but perfectly spiced. Drinks were great too and they have a few bottles that typically arent found in your average bar and can really take the cocktails up a notch.

Very enjoyable meal. Outstanding service. Knowledgable staff. Will definitely be back.

Nice decor and good food with a wide menu selection and wine list. Had a great merlot from okanagan. Probably a little expensive for what it is but that might be the dishes I picked.

Had a Ahi tuna salad in their courtyard patio. Very nice. Waitress was busy but rushed our meal to us so we could get to a meeting.

Horrible!!! noisy, slow and the food was less than average! the salmon was so overcooked it was as dry as sandpaper and the lamb was served on a bed of unseasoned lentils. You can get better food at a burger joint for a lot less $$$$

Great cocktails, great ambience, great service, okay food.

We went as a group of 4 on a slow night. Our server was attentive, kind, and knew the menu and drinks. The cocktails they had on hand were delicious. I can't say the same for our food, which seemed to be unsalted. 3 members of our group got the same thing and we were disappointed with the taste. The 4th person got something else and she seemed to enjoy hers. I'd be willing to give Social a second shot.

Social is by far one of my favourite restaurants in Ottawa! It is where I go for all my special events. Social has a beautiful atmosphere, personable staff, and a huge selection of drinks and food! I love that every time I go there is a different dessert and drink special and new rotation of beer and wine. Most people go to Social for dinner to get steak or pasta, but do not underestimate breakfast. This restaurant has the best hollandaise sauce in Ottawa. I still dream of those breakfast potatoes. The managers always look after their guests like family, I would recommend it to anyone visiting Ottawa for the first time or celebrating something special. You will truly get royal treatment.

During my two previous visits to your restaurant I always had my dog with me (in his bag) this time if I was asked to place myself outside on the terrace so that my dog is outside the room. terrace. We then have a table in full sun with the marble tables very very hot. We then asked to be placed in the shade when a table became available. 5 minutes later we asked to change places and told us again to take a table so that the dog is outside the terrace (the dog is still in his bag) too much is enough I remind you the name of your restaurant ???? Went out with a friend and had a delicious meal but was astonished by the service from both Lauren and Ben. These guys were outstanding and are on the top of their game. I had the lettuce for an appetizer along with a burger and fries for my main. My friend enjoyed yellow fin tuna and salmon. Everything was excellent.

It is quite apparent when a team works with synergy and the folks at Social had it down pat. Even though they had two massive parties totaling around 100 people, we could have been out of there in a hour tops on a Friday night. The place was bumpin.

Maybe I am old school but it seems nowadays the service aspect of dining takes a back seat while industry service staff still expects tips regardless of their performance. It is pretty obvious when someone hates their job or does not want to serve you/be there. I can honestly say that at no point did I feel this at Social. Way to keep it old school.

The food was incredible, even though we were waiting almost 3 hrs to be served they stepped up and offered amazing compensation and went above and beyond to accommodate us and the delay. Would come here again for sure.

They have an amazing cocktail name Sashay Away. Need I say more.

Brunch was a major disappointment. Service was slow and the food not very good, especially for the price. For example the Eggs Benedict came with no sauce. The peameal bacon was tough. And the advertised 'wilted greens' were two small pieces of overcooked kale. To fill the plate, some fresh strawberries and raspberries and a huge mound of not very good 'home fries'. No salt or pepper on the table. Oh and mediocre coffee at $6 a cup.

This place had a nice ambience and the staff were friendly. The waiters were fairly attentitive and pleasant.

However the food was terrible! I had the ribeye steak which tasted burnt on the edges which ruined the flavor (picture attached). Paying over 45$ for a steak and having it burned sucks. The house fries were not special, the sauce was okay at best, but I preferred ketchup. I tried each of their desserts and they all had issues. The brownie was probably the best.

Very overpriced for a place where the food lacks quality for sure.

Beautiful venue. Unfortunately the service was slow and half my group of 17 didn't love the food they got. Overdone pasta, dry salmon, burned goat. The duck was very good. Overall, would not recommend.

Great food and service. The atmosphere was so so as there was a large group just behind us. Without that it would be a great place for dinner.

Ate here as part of a work function, therefore that's how I'm intending this evaluation. No comment on the regular menu, as we never saw it. We had a group of fewer than 40. The restaurant offered a fixed menu, with entree choices of steak, fish and chicken. The room we were seated in was decorated in reasonable fashion, if a little bit of an echo chamber. The service was fantastic, with knowledgeable and helpful staff.

My appetizer was the mushroom bisque. It was delicious, and the highlight of the evening. The food was served together (which is a difficult trick) and was well-prepared, if unexciting (I tried the steak and fish options). The dessert was over-chilled (couldn't get my spoon through it without fear of launching it across the table) but tasty nonetheless.

My main complaint, however, was the (techno/house/trance) music played through the evening in our dining room. It was loud enough to be distracting, and at some points loud enough to cause us to nearly shout in order to be heard. A strange choice by the management.

Social was an amazing restaurant, the charcuterie board was not the best for the way it was platted but all the meat, cheese and sauces went extremely well together. As for the main course I had a nice tenderloin rare there was nothing special about it when I went but it was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was nice a quiet with a classical low volume background music. Definitely a place for a first date. Nice, fancy, quiet, great food but not overly fancy, and romantic.

This place is a cute little place right off the byward market. Love the social hour specials. Great service, and a beautiful setting.

We go to the social on a regular basis. At the end of the day its an easy place to unwind...dark and cool house music :)

Celebrated my 24th birthday at Social and it was amazing! We were a group of 13 people and everyone loved their dinner. Would definitely come back here again. Location is so close to everything. Thanks for making my birthday extra special!

We were really satisfied with our food! Very freshly made and delicious!! That one, I am giving 5 stars. BUT on the other hand, we didn t know how much tip we have to give to the server, we didn t know we have to tip at least 15%, there were no options in the machine as well, so, we just entered whatever percentage we could afford to give, as what I ve said, we have NO IDEA what s the minimum % of tip to give. So I gave 5% tip, and my mom s friend gave a tip as well (i m not sure how much tip she gave her). And then, our server went BACK in our table just to tell us how much tip we have to give next time, and she looked very upset. Which I have to disagree by the way she acted, aren t you supposed to thank us instead of complaining? At least we gave a tip right? And don t you understand that a tip isn t something you have to ask for? I worked as a server before as well, if I get no tip, then it should be fine for me. I DON T HAVE TO SCOLD MY GUEST AND FORCE THEM. It should be given whole heartedly. I get that it is mandatory now, but you don t have to be upset. Not even sure if she deserves that tip anymore because of the way she approached us

The cuisine is as fine as the decor. Service was impeccable. Most importantly, the restaurant bathed in a hushed atmosphere. Quite relaxing.

AMAZING FOOD & SERVICE! I can't explain enough how tasty this place is along with service that makes you feel at home. They treat you like a friend that you haven't seen in ages. They take the time to go over the food and wine menu along with checking in at the appropriate times. I would highly recommend this place, five stars on food, atmosphere and especially service!

Whenever I have an occasion to host out of town guests, or to provide advice to friends asking what restaurant I could recommend, the Social is always my choice. The friendly, professional service, the warm atmosphere, and the best steak in town always results in return visits.
My guests and friends always agree that this restaurant is excellently managed. Thanks Social for for the good times.

Sitting on the patio right now receiving the worst possible service. Server says he's super busy but I count maybe 7 tables served by at least 3 staff. Not coming back.

Service was poor despite relatively few customers. Food lacked depth of flavour although I did like the textures in the beet salad. My tuna was overcooked and over a bed of vegetables dominated by flavours of artichoke and the oil it is stored in. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant when there are others in the market that cost less, serve better tasting food, and have good service.

Good food, good service, I like their oyster appetizer. There is no significant weakness or negative point of this place. However for this price I think there are better choices.

We had THE BEST dining experience here. Dining tables were appropriately distanced. Never felt squished in or rushed. But the food....incredible! Every single bite if our 3 course meal. We even got a sneaky wee upgrade to a large booth just for the 2 of us, which made our night even better. Cozy. Delicious. Great cocktails. Excellent service. Will definitely be going back.

Like I said on Yan s review, I can totally understand that accident happened all the time. It was bad days for all of us. And I was going to get over it. But what terrifying me is Lauren Topley s dishonest, immature and unprofessional way of dealing this, as a GENERAL MANAGER representing this restaurant. I won t take any solutions from her until she tell the truth.

None of these one-star review was written by me. What I did is just post my experience online. I didn t write any review under any false name. Yan was one of the victims of this incident, the reason why I use Yan s account to write review is because my own review was invisible.

Also, all your replies to me have been thoroughly documented as well.

And could you please tell me which of my review or sentence showing that I accuse you made my review invisible? And why would you deleted your review to me at yesterday? Why don t you just leave it here? And keep thoroughly documented?

I m sad to give this place 3 stars because it actually has so much potential. I was at the patio a couple of weeks ago for brunch; and while the food, coffee, and cocktails were great, to say the service was slow is an understatement. We waited about an hour for our food; ran out of coffee and the server promised to come back with more and never did; we asked for salt + pepper and again, never received it. It was a celebration brunch that sadly turned out to be underwhelming. I absolutely understand that everything takes a bit longer nowadays, but in a restaurant like Social we shouldn t be lacking coffee refills or be abandoned by our server for a whole hour. The food delivered great flavours, but the poor service will make me think twice about ever coming back. I ve gotten more attentive service at restaurants that charge half the price for their food.

Nice venue although a little dated. Food was OK, not overly warm and there was some confusion as to who ordered what. Service was OK.
