Smoque BBQ Review

This place is great has awesome food, I love their brisket platter the place is small and cozy, only thing I would say that's kinda bothersome is that on certain days it feels nearly impossible to find parking close to the establishment especially in the summer the line wraps around the place, but believe me it is worth the wait.

I heard this place had the best brisket in the world, and boy I can believe that! The brisket was perfect: good smoke, bark, flavor, texture, everything. I had the beans and mac and cheese for my sides, and while both were good, the portion size of the mac and cheese was very small. I'd recommend getting the fries, instead. I don't eat coleslaw, but my fellow diners said that was very good, too. And, very importantly to me, they had a fountain drink machine. Next time I'm in Chicago, I'll definitely eat here again.

My wife and I LOVE this restaurant. The food is consistently delicious. The atmosphere is always nice and relaxing, and the staff is always friendly. The restaurant usually has a wait, though. But, if you go around the corner to the bar you get right in and the food is the same! I LOVE this place. Eat Here, Eat Here, Eat Here! A place this good deserves all the business it can get!

Ordered a pick up and had to spend more money for good quality food with small portions.

Ribs were standard and good. Pulled pork was good pork. The Memphis style sauce was delicious. The mac n cheese was my favorite! And I don't like slaw but the slaw was pretty good. Fries were excellent as well. So all in all sides were good but the main dishes were mediocre.

Good Food just make sure you plan your lunch or dinner well. This place can get really crowded.

Definitely lives up to the hype. The mac and cheese goes crazy, brisket is excellent, Texas sausage is great, and the St Louis ribs are just as good. I don't think you can go wrong here at all. Food is a little expensive but worth the price.

I must this place is pretty good! I wish the expand more because this venue is so small to serve all the hungry customers that want to check this place out or come back for some more. The wait is really long but worth the try. I waited 30 min for a table when I was hungry maybe I should have been warned to come in before I start getting super hungry. Everything was good and I will definitely come back for some more!

Best brisket in Chicago. Good fall off the bone ribs as well. Gets really busy at lunch and dinner times so be prepared to wait.

The brisket just falls apart in your mouth, which is a feat in itself. Pulled pork is tasty. Ribs are fall-off-the-bone succulent. Mac and cheese is effing awesome. I think the hype made me slightly less impressed than I should have with Smoque the first time, but subsequent visits have solidified it as top notch. BYOB! Atmosphere is casual and unassuming.

This is good BBQ but it's nowhere near the best I've ever had. I did like it and it's great for Chicago! I do wish they had a KC BBQ sauce.

Very good brisket, Mac n cheese is baked nicely, BBQ beans are good but not my favorite. First time I ordered there my chopped brisket came out cold, I was kinda disappointed but it was still good. Second times the charm, I got half n half sliced and chopped. Came out way better hot likes it should have been. I could have asked them for a reheat but I haven't eaten anything that day so I just said screw if and ate it. Great food nonetheless, I will continue to come back to Smoque BBQ for the brisket and Mac n cheese.
Definitely a place to try out if you love BBQ.

Love love love it! The ribs are out of this world and the pulled pork sandwich tastes great with the Caroline sauce. the corn bread is amazing! The place is a bit small but who cares the food is enjoyable.

Just ordered from DoorDash and was blown away at how delicious every single thing was! Brisket, ribs, cornbread, macaroni, and bread pudding = all amazing. They even threw in a coleslaw, which I don t always enjoy but this one was excellent. I ll definitely be ordering from Smoque again soon!

I had this with my parents for dinner last week and let me just say AWESOME!!!!! I'm very picky when it comes to BBQ and this place hits the spot. We got 1 order of the baby back ribs and one order of the St. Louis ribs and both were excellent. The smoke was deep but not overpowering, the rub was packed with flavor with a nice touch of black pepper. You can tell they slow cooked these as there was practically zero fat on these and amazingly tender, cooked perfectly. They have 2 kinds of BBQ sauces that I tried, both were delicious,I liked the spicy one. Great slaw, beans and french fries, portions were spot on. Definitely get the mac and cheese side, will not disappoint. I can't wait to try the brisket.

Absolutely terrific ! I love it so much! Their pulled pork is insanely juicy and their Carolina and spicy Memphis sauce is so good! Their baked Mac and cheese is is to die for, as is their coleslaw and many other sides. They have this new gumbo that is so good as well! Excellent! You NEED to check it out! Especially you out of town folks visiting !

Overrated, but if you crave some BBQ it's will satisfy

The beef brisket melts in your mouth. The St. Louis ribs are to die for! Your meal is not complete without the Pecan Bread Pudding!

Awesome BBQ joint that gets some of their meats from Texas.

Top gun BBQ. Brisket was some of the best I've had outside texas and the ribs were equally delicious. The fries, slaw and mac n cheese were all excellent accompaniments to the main event as well

If you're from Texas, you will likely be disappointed. Kinda flavorless, moderately dry, and no potato salad or green bean sides? Really nice/friendly people though.

Not the best tasting, not the worst either.
Will try again soon to make sure I have had enough of the menu before I call it a hole in the wall.

Best cornbread on the north side, excellent service, and brisket to die for!

Line is always out the door, so prepare for that, but the food is worth it.

Best brisket in Chicago hands down. Meat is super juicy and tender. Customer service is also amazing. Walked in and the employees made arrangements for our seats right away. Highly recommend this place for any BBQ lovers.

We had actually had a large brunch but were temporarily in the area and a local recommended Smoque. We had a taste of the brisket (great bark on the outside and super soft - split immediately when touched with a fork!), Two housemade sauces they offered with it, and the PHENOMENAL bourbon pecan bread pudding they had as the flavor that day. OMG, if we lived closer we would be in so much trouble with this place! Anyone we mentioned Smoque to across town knew of it, even if they lived on the other side of the city.

Got brisket, ribs, and sausage and everything was delicious. I don't usually like coleslaw but even that was good. Nice cool crunch to go with the warm food. The Mac and cheese was outstanding especially with a little bit of the baked breadcrumb crust. Not a big fan of the beans. That was the only thing we didn't finish. Had the pecan bread pudding that was on special and it was like heaven in a little cup.

Had Smoque BBQ for the first time, and I have to say it was fantastic! We tried both types of ribs, brisket, mac & cheese, brisket chili, fries, and the slaw. The food was well-priced, well-cooked, and the atmosphere was laid-back. Will definitely go there again!

Best BBQ in town. I love pull pork sandwiches and beef brisket. Amazing chicken here. Best coleslaw in the city. Fast friendly services no table service but really organized place. Street parking and pretty hard to find the spot.

Don't know if you can find better rubbed baby back ribs or pork brisket. Pulled pork was also good. I wasn't a fan of the baked beans or Mac and cheese.

I had the chopped brisket sandwich w/slaw, mac n cheese, and caramel pecan bread pudding. Awesome food! Prices seemed great for the quality of food. The homemade sauces are a plus to the already perfectly smoked meat. Juicy and not overly smoked! Definitely a must try!

We got Take out, it was like a glorified food truck in there, not the best value for the price due to the amount of food you get, but rhw taste almost makes up for it. It's the most decent (and only) bbq joint around this area. Get the Mac 'n Cheese as a side!

Easy street parking nearby and I think they have a small lot too. Always busy and always smells delicious!!!! Fair prices and huge portions. Best BBQ on the block. Easy to see why they made it on tv. Cornbread was dry

Quality and quantity of food combined make this a great spot for lunch. It is a little pricy but not too bad for Chicago.

Smoque's BBQ Sauce....that just about says it all, in my opinion! This place has long lines for a reason, but the staff are very organized and will have you seated and fed as expeditiously as possible. The ribs, brisket and pulled pork are the likely stars, but the leaner half-chicken should not be underestimated...it is juicy, delicious perfection every time. The signature coleslaw is amazing, oil-and-vinegar dressed (not creamy). Closed Mondays.
