The ramen is okay... But the service is slow and the food is overpriced.
Super impressed! The food was amazing! And thanks to our super knowledgeable and sweet server we knew EXACTLY what to order. Came in today during the snowstorm and can't wait to come back!! The manager even sang happy birthday to my daughter on our way out the door! Our new favorite
Certainly is some good food, but for the price it could be better.
Always a good eat and service. I love how you can see them cooking what you ordered (when you sit at the bar area). They are so attentive to their visitors needs. I love this place and will ALWAYS come here when I'm in the area.
Ricky the server is THE BEST!
delicious but out of my league financially. my usual determiner for the number of stars is some type of quality : price ratio, but i feel like that shouldn't apply to this type of restaurant. it's a place for a special food-oriented night out. plan for $50 per person to really get the most out of it.
Slurp and be as noisy as you want. Delicious noodle bowls and noisy eating are a match like no other.
A little pricey, but the food is excellent as is the service.
We tried the Ahi Poke Donburi, Hakata tonkatsu ramen, and duck fat fried chicken. Everything was fresh and delicious. I recommend trying the molten egg at least once in your ramen.
The seating is community style, with a small handful of booths. Casual atmosphere. Good service.
Worth noting that the bathroom are in the basement.
Always good and fresh sushi. Should probably have given them 5 start but sometimes I'm a New York food snob!
Delicious ramen at fair prices, with a robust drink and appetizer selection to back it up. Staff are very friendly, and the facilities were spotless. Personally I love the tan tan-men with an ice-cold Asahi.
A little pricey, but you get a HUGE bowl of Ramen. Very delicious! The vegetarian ramen was amazing for someone who doesn't like meat or fish.
Parties of two are seated across from each other so expect to sit next to two people you don't know. The slurpy noodle dishes are difficult to eat without spreading drops of soup everywhere. The price is not very competitive with other noodle places in town.
Arrived between the lunch/dinner rush on a Saturday. Dining room was about half full, 3 of us in our party and we were greeted and seated pretty quickly. Waited somewhere between 15-20 minutes before our server even came to our table, I almost flagged someone down but every single worked avoided eye contact. I've waited tables for 10 years, you know when a customer is trying to get your attention. I almost got up and walked out but it was my nieces birthday so I wanted it to be a fun lunch for her since she picked the place out. Anyhow, by the time our server did arrive we were ready to order everything since we had waited so long. Our server didn't write any of our order down which scared me but I thought maybe she had a great memory so I just let it go. Well our drinks were wrong she forgot half of them (never brought the tea or lemonade) and then never brought out the appetizers...at all and I was dying to try the bao buns. Hysterical in fact that when we finished our meal I asked about the appetizers and the server looked at me like I was crazy. She said "oh I didn't know you still wanted them"
Well when I ordered I specifically asked if we could get them before the ramen and if that would be a problem. I'm chalking it up to her not writing it down: she did apologize but considering it was her mistake it would've been nice to have had it taken off the bill and maybe offered something else. Apparently you can't order sushi during "lunch" time but we watched a lady at the bar area order a plate of 3-4 sushi rolls. When j asked the server about it she said "well you can't order sushi rolls at lunch" so I asked The lady ordered a special and She just shrugged it off and said "well I'll ask the sushi bar but they probably aren't going to do it " ok never mind
The way she handled it made me feel sorry for even being a customer.
The ramen broth in all three of our dishes was decent but the noodles were inconsistent, they tasted fine to me but the noodles in my boyfriends ramen were chewy and hard.
They literally sell Meijer sushi here with inflated prices. 14$ for one roll and my roll was half missing! I did a carry out and they literally told me to leave and they would call me. It gets better, they never even called. I went back 40 mins later and they literally gave me the first the bag they saw. They should shut this trash down.
The Duck Fat Fried Chicken and Chahan with Ribeye were my favorite dishes. You can't come to this place and not get these two dishes. My third favorite dish would be the DFFC Miso Ramen (has the Duck Fat Fried Chicken in it); it is definitely something to share with another friend if you've ordered other dishes. The Shrimp and Grilled Chicken Bao's were not too good, the steamed buns were too overpowering and I wasn't able to taste the protein. Lastly, the Dancing Shrimp Roll was very average, wasn't nearly worth the $16 I paid for it; very bland and tasteless.
Shout out for giving a free birthday dessert, very tasty!
Duck Fat Fried Chicken - 10/10
Chahan with Ribeye - 10/10
DFFC Miso Ramen - 9/10
Edamame - 9/10
Bao's - 5/10
Dancing Shrimp Roll - 5/10
Service - 7/10
Ambiance - 8/10
Awesome atmosphere and the food is amazing. One of my favorite places to eat.
Really nice, modern interior. Delicious bao and ramen!
Had an amazing experience, the food was incredibly delicious and the service was wonderful. Our server made sure to help with some dietary restrictions we had and made some great recommendations. One of the best Ramen locations I've ever been to.
I'd made a large order of sushi, etc. for a corporate party - everything was wonderful and very nicely displayed. Working with their event coordinator couldn't have been more easy, great communication and care for our needs. Highly recommend!
Decent place to have some Ramen. The place is packed so be prepared to wait if you came on a Friday or Saturday. I had a maki roll and a bowl of Ramen, both taste good but not amazing. The portion is on the smaller side as well, so make sure you add in extra noodles if you came hungry.
There are three parts for ramen that are most essential. The noodle, the meat, and the soup. Slurping Turtle has nice noodle, passable meat, and disappointing soup (for ramen).
We had a variety of items on the menu and were happy with almost all. My friend didn't like the chicken in his ramen as it was way too overcooked. I ordered the veg red curry ramen with tofu and loved it. You get humungous proportions of ramen so most times we have to take leftovers. The place was very kid friendly and service was good too.
Crowded but good. Could be a bit cheaper, but wasn't horrible. We had a few things from the menu and they all met our expectations. The brussels sprouts were excellent!
All around great experience! Go there an check it out!
My friend recommended this place for their ramen and I was not disappointed. I got the Spicy Miso Ramen and we got also got the duck fat fried chicken to share. The spicy miso ramen broth was perfect! I used to live in Japan and the quality of the dish was certainly comparable to a legit ramen joint there. The duck fat fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Very tasty! My only complaint, as I have seen others voice in their reviews, is that the prices for this restaurant are a little too high. You can easily spend over $40 for a meal for two which seems pretty ridiculous for a town full of college kids. Other than that, ramen-wise, this place is great and I highly recommend coming here at least once!
Great noodles! The broth was decent but wasn't as flavorful. I would still recommend to a friend!
I was there for lunch which happened to be during their happy hour. I ordered a sake flight and my friend ordered a California roll. When we received our bill we noticed the half off discount was not applied. When we asked the waiter he said we actually had to be seated at the community table, no mention of that before ordering. The ramen was good but the service was poor :(
Food was great, best ramen I have had yet. And the beverages were yummy!
Food was delicious! Service was great. She helped us find some sake that matched our palet. It was busy but the environment was still enjoyable, not too loud. Food could have been hotter is the only miss. Will definitely make this a regular stop.
Really great food. Went for a work dinner, so we had the entire area downstairs for our group. Had a set menu. The duck fat fried chicken was amazing. Raven and savory mochi were great too. Service was good. Overall great place. Will go back if I'm ever back in ann arbor.
Everything here is good, all the food, the service and bot too pricey. Never had anything I didn't love. One of the best restaurants you will find, provided of course you like Japanese food!
Must have the deap fried chicken wings, great food specially appetizers
Had a special menu for this event gathering. Didn't really like the rice dish, but everything else is great! Love the pork belly bao!!
Great atmosphere, Ramen on point, sushi that's well made and REAL Wasabi.
The food and service is pretty good and the interior of the restaurant is not bad with long table/bar seating as the primary form of seating. However, the restaurant is more expensive than other restaurants around it which makes their stuff a bit overpriced so I wish they would lower their prices a bit.
Sooooo good!!! At first I was like Duck Fat Fried Chicken ... why??? Then I was like BECAUSE FRYING ONE BIRD IN THE FAT OF ANOTHER BIRD IS APPARENTLY AMAZING!!! Thats why.
Good noodles. A bit busy, so set some time aside if you're looking to go.
The food tastes great. I have had many things and the fried chicken duck fat tenders are amazing. Its worth a try for sure
So good and the staff was amazing. We walked in around closing time, but they graciously invited us in for a late dinner anyway. Most cordial and professional staff we have ever seen. The food was just as outstanding.
Everyone in the restaurant were pleasant to converse with and gave excellent recommendations for future visits. On top of that, the food was
Love this place. Daughter enjoys and it feels so special. Healthy, nutritious food. Comfortable.
Freaking love slurping turtle. Place is always awesome. Food is great and staff is great.
I've eaten at Slurping Turtle for quite a few times, alsways a pleasure. You can choose to sit at the sushi bar or at a booth.
For appetizer, their pork belly bao and takoyaki are pretty good. For main dish, their ramen are made in the store freshly. The miso broth is rich, and the vegetarian option is also good. For desert, definitely try the sesame icecream and green tea puff.
Mmmm. Not only is the food good, but they take food allergies very seriously. The owner's extremely nice, and I'm blown away by The courtesy in friendliness of the staff.
Very expensive for what you get. They even charge extra for the egg, which is probably the most standard item in ramen. The soup broth is okay and the noodles are pretty good, but not wroth the $14+ for it.
Good miso ramen, taste delicious. The tan tan noodle taste a little bit weird. I have to wait 20-30 minutes when there are like 30 spaces in the whole restaurant and I am in the third place of the waiting list. The pork belly bao is great. Pork belly is juicy, however, I can't believe that I spend 4 dollar to eat 1 piece pork belly in a bao and can't taste them when I almost ate half of the bao. If this is the first ramen restaurant I visit in United States, I might never went to any ramen restaurant in this country. I don't think these foods worth the money I spent.
We had a great time here last week. My dear has a shellfish allergy, such they took very seriously upon first mention. The sushi chef kept great company while we ate at the bar. They make great dishes and keep wonderful company!
This is the standard for ramen. Do yourself a favor. Eat here. They also do sushi. It's good.
Food is a bit over priced, but the service and drinks are great.
Good soup choices. Had the red curry ramen. Delicious
it actually tasted really good, but I got the worst food poisoning of my life here. I ate here, got home, and continued to puke every 2 hours for three days
One the most aunthentic taste of ramen in Ann Arbor. Pretty decent price. Love the ambiance.
Amazing ramen and sushi! Got a chance to talk with one of the sushi chefs and he was absolutely fabulous. He tolerated our endless questions and made us some amazing sushi off menu. Absolutely delicious and great. We'll be back and request to sit at the sushi bar.
Best sushi I ever had! Also, very allergy friendly! Server and kitchen staff go above and beyond on the side of caution. Thank you for that!
So freaking good.
Came for my brothers birthday was not let down. They have seating outside in the street. Deffentaly going to come back sushi was super good
Ramen was tasty and they even sell their homemade noodles to take home. Price point for pretty much everything else on the menu was pretty high though. Don't bother with sushi, other places around town are way better values.
Excellent home made ramen--and the pork belly bao was yummy. Very friendly and excellent quality, fresh food. I will be back.
One of my favorite places to visit. Definitely try the pork bao
Great food but my server was a little unattentive.
It was a little over-hyped in my opinion. The food is pretty good. My favorite is the duck fat fried chicken.
