I really wonder what happened to this lovely place...

I really wonder what happened to this lovely place we were in California for couple of months so didn't have a chance to stop by since November. Obviously Either management or owner changed. That blonde lady shouldn't be in service industry for sure. The moment you open the door negativity hits your face. The way she takes order, treats you, that awful attitude on her voice and face is so disturbing. I would say maybe they are so busy and backed up for a moment that's why they were giving horrible service but There was only 1 table when we arrive. She is around mid 50s it might be menopause issue which Nobody should be affected besides her. She was hitting the tables and chairs when she was cleaning and making the place very inhospitable. I don't even talk about the missing item on our order bc I didn't wanna bother to correct that, instead just wanna eat and leave as soon as possible. We were here every weekend last summer, and we live in west New York which is quite a distance. If only management changed is good bc that's solvable cuz I'm sure the owner will realize his mistake but if she is the new owner then this was definitely our last visit.

Give the chocolate cake a try! The most moist and rich chocolate cake I've ever had! Plus, they sell Ayran(just average, but at least they have it).
The charming place about Simit is that it is more than a bakery. The moment you step in, you capture the warm and mellow Turkish vibe. You see the "blue evil eye" jewelries hanging on the wall and other Turkish charms on display(for sell). Though not a big establishment, the sitting area doesn't feel uncomfortably narrow. The male owner is very friendly!

The shepherd's salat lunch special was served after what felt like an eternity. It consisted mainly of a small bowl of sliced tomatoes, cucumbers and onions. No dressing or seasoning (but I could possibly have asked). Ah yes, there were also four pieces of stuffed wine leafs fresh out of the tin. I guess the cook must have had a bad day.

Love the bakery products as well as the sandwiches. I always look forward to dropping by to see what new pastries they have . I also enjoyed the coffee but since they no longer have decaf, I don't drink as much. I especially like the spinach & feta cheese pie. I have not been disappointed with any of their offerings. The sandwiches are different and very tasty. Definitely worth checking out.

I spent a nice sunny fall afternoon with a friend at Simi bakery and cafe. A real jewel in the heart of Montclair. I had a gluten free zucchini/ walnuts cake. Fresh and delicious! The cappuccinos were also great. Mostly, I wanted to write this review to say THANK YOU for the great service we received!! Human touch and good customer service are the key to a successful business!!! Keep the good work!!

I feel peacefull. Actually, I can t say try this or that. Because everything was amazing here. Here is the place that you can t find in anywhere in NJ. Tastes are unique; I mean I ate in many places which are trying to do same food but unfortunetelly they were not the places that I want to visit again. But this place is different, I really thanks to this cafe for smile services, fresh and delicious foods and great atmosphere.

I get lunch from Simit House multiple times a week. All the sandwiches, pastries and bakery items are awesome and always fresh. The service is very friendly. Its a much better option than chains like Starbucks! Keep up the great job guys! Please support small business in your neighborhood. They work hard and make food with their heart!!!

If you like Turkish pastries this is a great place. You have lots of options to decide from here. The Turkish coffee is great too. Don't expect to find parking so if you're shopping in the area just swing by here before you go back to your car. I'm only knocking a star off because the guy helping me was chewing a straw that was hanging out of his mouth.

Do not recommend. I don t know what happened to this place, but staff was extremely rude and my friends and I found TWO MICE (might I add that one had a hunchback ) just running and hopping around. Never going back.
