They just did a big fund raiser to support aide efforts in the Australian wildfires. What a shineing example of how a community can raly together to make a big difference. Great job!

I love Silverstar! They have everything: tubing, skating, fat bikes, snow shoeing, Nordic skiing, bowling, and of course downhill skiing and snowboarding. Renting a house is very simple and can be very well priced if you book a few months early and have a large group. There are several restaurants and shops in the village and Vernon is only 30 min away.
Summer time fun!! What a beautiful view... pretty much everywhere! Lots of things to see and fresh air to enjoy. One of the days we were there, the weather was shifting from hail to sun to thick cloud cover to intense rain... all within 30 minutes! High mountain weather for you, impressive to witness.
Caution: expect high prices everywhere, it s a resort... what else should we expect?! Restaurant prices seem to be around $50 for a couple (plenty closed during the week though), $189.99 for a hoodie (then there s taxes!)... even clearanced clothing is still quite highly priced compared to clothing stores down in the valley. Meh... it s the experience you re enjoying not the deals right?
For the record, I would have given five out of five stars if it wasn t for the high prices everywhere or poor bike rental experience. Glad you asked about the mountain bike experience. Here, let me tell you about it...
The biggest frustration for us was the mountain bike rentals. We d planned to have a morning of riding cross country style but the rental insurance is incredibly sketchy. They kept pressuring us to buy the extra $15 worth of coverage each. Your rental fee DOESN T cover regular wear and tear... according to three of the bike managers/staff nothing covers that. So that s why you need to get the extra, wait... but the extra insurance doesn t seem to actually cover any damage from regular use either! We inquired as to what things could happen to the bike that we d be required to pay for the repairs and we were told that flat tires, chain derailer misalignment (keep in mind, those are regular wear and tear things that happen with normal use) to brakes cables snapping or severe frame bending/damage (carbon frames can snap at a minor defect through manufacturing) were all on us.
Asking for more information about it, they could only show us a picture of a bike with overpriced repairs listed. $30+ to replace an inner tube?
After that discussion (as to what was included/covered with the rental fee to what we would be required to pay for) we were scared to even touch any of the bikes. They basically ended up saying anything that happens would be our responsibility. Even damage from previous uses.
Luckily, getting a hiking pass was free...
First time visiting and it was gorgeous! I was only in the village briefly with my family but I would definitely go back! The only thing I didn't like was the winding drive up the mountain but that is to be expected on a ski hill!
Great mountain but have to fight with parking everytime.
Website was not clear that mountain biking on thursdays doesn t open until 12. Please have something that clarifies that when you re purchasing the tickets.
Other than that, great mountain and people!
Best spot in west CA! Always has snow when Whistler is warm! AND much more friendly than Whistler !
Beautiful ski and resort with lots of condos and different restaurants to choose from. Not all place are open due to covid.
Love it. Great place for kids and adults. Kids program is amazing with great instructors for them. The ripper's program for kids is well worth the investment, my 5 year old has progressed leaps and bounds each week.
Great place. Even if you are not going skiing, it us great to come up in the sunshine and enjoy the village.
Great allround family mountain. Almost no lineups. Skied straight to and from the car. Lots of trees which is great if its windy. Major vertical and plenty room. Useful village with most ammenities but only 25min to Vernon if you need more.
Great Mountain and village.
Too many Flats, they need to groom better. Top of mountain not sloped.
Nice hill, lots of runs, well kept but a lil more pricier then some others.
Alpine meadows lifties blasting profane music at 7:30am have been doing it all season very rude
Half hour drive from Vernon. Friendly staff. Accommodation in the mountain. Lots of slopes with various levels of difficulties great for family. There are also other activities including tubing and skating.
Best mountain bike park in western Canada. Amazing trails with great variety. Staff seem to enjoy working there and want you to enjoy it too. Lift line ups are always decent. Regularly drive 7hrs to ride there.
An amazing place. Its soo pretty. Friendly and easily accessible. Highly recommend
Tough to swallow day pass price but great family ski resort overall
Amazing family resort. Excellent terrain and snow and very little wait in lift lines.
We stayed at Vance Creek hotel for a wedding. Great suite. Had 2 tvs , one in living room and one in the bedroom. Kitchen had everything you need , even a dishwasher. My only complaint is that the mattresses need replacing. The mattresses we sunken in the center and you could feel the springs. Price was reasonable.
World class mountain my ass. I've seen giant turds that look better than this mountain!
INCREDIBLE bike park! Had the sickest day here and enjoyed myself immensely. They are doing their best to ensure everyone still has a stellar time in the midst of COVID. Protective measures in place and the lady with the hose in the line up was the hero of the day. 10/10 I recommend their bike park!
Awesome community up on the mountain! Friendly staff, great instructors, well-trained patrollers. I love the runs and facilities, and especially love that their seasons pass is all-inclusive, covering Tube Town, skating rink, alpine and nordic skiing. So glad we moved near this mountain!
Went to Silver Star to try downhill mountain biking. What a thrill! They help you at the bottom and the top to load and unload the bikes at the chair lift. The green trails are very easy, the blues have a wide variety of riding types and I only tried one black diamond run that had lots of neat challenges with easy outs. I'll be back!
Good and nice good baker you can drink delicious coffee with good and fresh pastries.
Awesome trails, for everyone from skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and skating.
While here enjoy hot chocolate or whatever your flavour. Also there are shops to browse and dazzle you with trinkets to bring home to your loved ones or just treat yourself. You are worth it! Come for a day, and be in wonderland.
Been here a few times mountain biking, love every minute of it!
Hope the new owners clean house because nobody seems qualified locals are nowhere to be found stay away
Best mtb park in BC outside of Whistler. Maybe better since there are no lines and it feels a bit more secluded and relaxed.
Awesome place...take advantage of the mountain host
Rented a gorgeous house up here last winter, will definitely return again!
As far as a place to ski, Silver Star has a very decent mix of terrain. There's also a large number of places to stay, many slope side. However, the village is a joke. Hardly any stores, and not enough restaurants. The market doesn't even qualify to be called a 7-11. Choosing between Sun Peaks and Silver Star, I'd pick Sun Peaks.
Silver Star Ski Resort was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Going during the off season you can expect most of the restaurants to be closed but almost all the other attractions and shops were open and welcoming to tourists.
My favorite local resort. For experienced skiers, I like it better than Big White. More challenging terrain and they'll have a gondola for night skiing starting 2019 ski season
Excellent staffing. Great skiing, even though the season is over it is just getting ready for the summer mountain season hiking and mountain biking.
If your ears easily bubble, the drive up and down the mountain may be a pain, the rooms were quite nice and spacious.
Fun place to visit, great slopes, good meals, gorgeous sun!
I grew up on this mountain, it has grown quite a lot. We will see what happens with the new owners from United States
Great family ski resort with lots of activities even if you don t ski.
Loved the skiing at SiverStar, Deer Park Run is a black Diamond glade run will slide you through rolling terrain. The top winds past the snow ghost walls then a rollercoaster ride through the evergreen forest. Not too steep with plenty of bumps and easy to find fresh powder. Even on family day, lines were short. All other days were fully open. If you're a beginner, some of the green runs might catch you off guard. Only negative is that passes are day specific therefore if you are there for 5 days and only want a 3 day pass, you have to decide before hand what days you want to ski. If you decide not to ski on one of the days you have purchased a lift ticket for, they will not refund or transfer the tickets. Not the fairest system.
Great place, great village, lots to do. Restaurants, bars, accommodations, rentals, skating, tubetown, good parking.
Beautiful place , friendly staff, powder snow just fantastic. The mountains is stunning
Always a huge fan of Silver Star. Bike park is awesome. Great village as well with restaurants and shops.
Wide open runs. Great for skiing or snowboarding. Tons of cross country options. Numerous ski in ski out options if you can afford it. Neat little village next to the main lift. Not crowded. Some of the passes can be tough to get through during the winter if you're not local. Much cheaper lift tickets than the more well known spots. Highly recommended.
Had such a good time riding here.. if you mountain bike, this is a must do! Great trail network with lots of good flowy trails. The village is fun and lively in the summer as well.
Wish I could give 0 feeling stars. My brother went mountain biking here today, and he adjusted his bike seat from his rental bike while riding it. The bike seat thing broke. There was no line that showed where there was a maximum adjustment. Silver star is asking for 700$ even though my brother paid for a damage protection fee. Apparently their insurance is not really insurance... My family of 7 and all our extended family has been going to silver star for years, we buy ski passes every year, and they are losing all of our business because they re refusing to apologize and take accountability. We are reviewing our legal options to take this to court, on accounts of negligence and insurance fraud. This was really really bad and stupid and I am happy to share more details to anyone who is curious. Thank you silver star for ruining our day. Be thankful no one was injured next time and say sorry for giving us fake insurance and scamming us out of money..
Great mountain and fantastic staff. Smaller village but big enough!
I used to love skiing at Silverstar, I grew up skiing here. But the price of a day pass is outrageous and way to expensive. $115.00 for a day of skiing is sickening. I don t understand how a family or a group of friends are suppose to be able to afford a day here? Disappointed...
I will happily be spending my money at Revelstoke this year, where you get 5x more terrain for way better price vs worth.
I really enjoyed the snowboarding, great mountain. The ticket office was a bit of a mess. Attempted to buy a pow pass online before getting there and got an online error. Called in to make sure my card would not be double charged to the ticket office. Still got double charged. When I was there attempting to pick up this pow pass was met with long lines and confused staff. There was about 5 staff people telling everyone to do different things, which ended up with some people getting their pass immediately and others waiting in a couple of lines to get their pow pass. But they did have 4 staff members handing out hot chocolate... Staff members were hit or miss for helpfulness. Other than the few issues getting a pow pass which is a great deal, I had a pretty good time riding for 3 days.
I actually booked a room here not realizing it was a mountain bike/ski resort cause the price for the room was better than any nearby hotel. It worked well for this purpose. All the other unique, non typical hotel stuff around made it a fun experience and I'll go back to bike soon.
Great range of terrain and small lineups. Friendly staff and some good food on hill available
The kids loved the Tubing, kids snowmobiles, skating and skiing. It really is nice and close to vernon. Great little village and activities. Tooney tuesday is great for the family as well.
New gondola is a treat to ride. Great food at descent prices. Friendly staff.
Great snow, great steeps on the Putnam side and cruises on the front side. Family oriented style area, it's expensive for the lift tickets but accommodation can be reasonable
Had an exceptional time riding at Silver Star Resort (biking). Friendly staff. Good on resort food at the local restaurants. Ask for Hayden at the Bike School if you need a lesson!
Great mountain for families, loved everything from the variety of runs to pond hockey and tube town. Great kids ski school. Plus some fun extra activities.
Smaller resort with excellent family amenities and activities.
Great place great views..its has a very home style feel to it...if you have never skied before or snowboard its a great place for lessons for the whole family..
Lessons are about 2 hours at a time gives mom and dad some free time from the kids..lotsof great places to eat after a day of ski or boarding..
Also there is a fantastic tubeing area and you go very very fast!! Our kids loved this the best!!
Haven't had a bad experience yet. Staff are top notch.
Great terrain with lots of variety and great snow. Almost no lift lines.
