We booked a table for 5 people but on arrival realised there would be 6 of us, they happily changed our booking and offered us a lovely table outside under the heaters, even though it was a wet October evening the shelter from the courtyard More

Really cool use of an old filling station, with pretty good food. Great atmosphere on a summers evening with plenty of space to drink outside. The food was OK, not the best softshell crab burger I've had but good nonetheless. Don't bother with the coleslaw - it's very dry and basically a salad. Good cocktails too.

The soft shell crab burger might look like something out of Alien, but it really did taste fantastic.
I like the great location and vibe in Shrimpy's but I feel parts of the menu are overpriced for the size of portions you get.
If like me, you don't like paying extra for items that should already be part of a main dish (sides!), maybe give this a miss.

Peaceful tucked away location, fantastic food and wonderfully attentive staff. One of London's best hidden gems - will definitely be going again!

Food was what was expected - soft shell crab burger was not mind blowing, slaw was fresh & flavoursome and pud was wonderfully balanced and not sickly.
However, one of the front of house girls needs to lose the pretentious nature. As a customer, when you're told that your table is ready, you're not psychic and will know where exactly your table is. It's generally a given that the hostess should AT LEAST point you in the general direction instead of just walk away then make you feel stupid for not knowing. Bit too much bother for her. And it was not very busy at all.
As a result I will not go back here. So many other amazing places to eat in the area.

The "beef" torta was barely edible, full of gristle and cold. I tried the veggie option which was pretty nice on the other hand...
Didn't take cash which was odd.

The Filling Station @ Bagleys. For all you ex-clubbers who ran down to the BP Station behind Kings Cross to pick up chewing gum & bottled water before your evening entering the club @ The Cross & Canvas began. 2 year pop-up restaurant from the team @Bistrotheque. Try the Soft Shell Crab Burgers (not for the faint hearted!). In the way that old diners and drive-ins in the US are sometimes reclaimed and made cool, this gas station has been given a makeover by architectural firm Carmody Groarke. Using the existing, 1960s prefab canopy, forecourt and shop, they have enhanced its modernist look by shielding it from the road traffic with rippling sheets of translucent fibreglass using pink & green fluro neon to make it look like an art installation. Over looking Regents Canal they now do slices of the best outside of NYC Pizza you are ever gonna get in London with a Mojito.. Go see before it disappears as a distant memory into the sands of time. Bring a date!!!!

The crab and avocado burger is delightful.
I even got to listen to an authentic mariachi trio!

It's the middle of May in London and my American cousin and her boyfriend are over from New York for a short visit. They want to go out for 'casual' dinner and drinks on Friday night and none of us can face the Soho. So I suggest going to More

Tiny little restaurant on the canal that is just fantastic! I had the soft shell crab burger and a side salad. We sat at the bar for dinner as we didn't have resos, but that meant that we were able to see everything that was coming out of the kitchen. The steak looks absolutely incredible, as does the chicken and lobster mac and cheese. Basically I just wanted everything on the menu because it all looked so good!

Unique location and interior that takes you back a bit in time. Luxury dining experience without the stuffiness. Had the soft shell crab burger and was very flavorful and fresh. Would definitely recommend Shrimpy's to anyone looking for a new dining experience.

This is a great little restaurant. I went to this restaurant on a week day and it was not easy to get a dinner table around 8pm, I would advise anyone to book because the restaurant is small and very popular. The staff were very friendly both in the welcoming at the restaurant as well as throughout the meal serving and helping out with the menu. The restaurant is quite small and can be quite loud at time, the buzz is very good but it is not for everyone's taste. The food was amazing, I tired the Pork pozole which was very tender and also the Humita. I must say the portions were very generous. Definitely a place to return and somewhere I would recommend.

Great idea, executed just OK. Shrimpy's is an ex-service station with a small restaurant overlooking the canal and an outdoors grill. The menu at the grill has 4 items on but the staff still couldn't describe what a torta was.."like a More

There is no better place to sip Prosecco in the dying sunshine on a summer's evening. Head there early after work to get a sunspot. The Filling Station shares a stripped down approach to outdoor drinking similar to Franks and other east London hubs. If you're meeting a group there be sure to check early in case they are closed for a private party which they often are. No cash allowed.
